Sure, Boland took 6 for 5. But then he got carted. Gave up 2 more runs while not taking any more wickets. However, he's a Vic, so I hope he keeps his place and can pull his weight in the next Test.

Our household has spent the morning in quiet reflection, thankful for the appearance of the saviour, who gave so that we may live, and thereby has saved us all. From 57 years of misery. Unfortunately schisms have appeared over whether the saviour is Max, Tracc, or Goodwin. However I expect by Easter (the annual rebirth of the home and away season) that we will unite to declare holy war on the heretics (Collingwood, Essendon, etc).

Saturday Morning on Demonland (12)

These are the spoils of victory. They're not the only good things about being winners again, of course, but they're definitely on the list. -

DETECTIVE SERGEANT CHRISTIAN PETRACCA: in my deep cover disguise as a professional football player, I have secured an on-field position in a football team and have tracked the killer to Perth. I have reason to believe he could be here in --- wait ... THAT'S HIM! THAT BLOKE: Oh Christ. What's he doing here? Is he looking at me? Don't panic. Act natural. Cover the scars with your hands like you're just ... oh Christ. It's all on camera too. CURSE YOU, DETECTIVE SERGEANT CHRISTIAN PETRACCA! -
Can't you save this wonderful treat for Christmas day? I feel cheated.

What they're saying down at Moorabool Street

Hmmmmm .... let's try out all three and see which sits best. Might have to do each one two or three times to be sure. -

You would know if they had -- they'd immediately look 20 years older -

That will explain why they slammed the ball over the line when it was already going out, and why they left Max on his own in the last few seconds when all they had to do was punch the ball away. Mass idiocy caused by tummy virus. Definitely not panic induced by shell shock. -

Tonne is the name for the metric unit. Ton was (is, in some very limited parts of the world) the imperial unit. It's not out of the question that "tonne" is used as a synonym by some fancy pants recalcitrant avoirdupoirists in the same way that "programme" became differentiated from "program". (Program was the original English spelling, then the first Jesus freaks went to America and took the spelling with them. Some time afterwards the English decided to Frankify their language with fawncy spellings, such as "programme". For that touch of class. Same word, different spelling.) -

Not to mention the smug superiority we can indulge in, as these "experts" reveal the paucity of their knowledge about our team, and we can laugh at their predictions no matter what they are, unless they consider us a slam dunk for the flag, in which case maybe they know a thing or two. Season 2021 was great and it's still not over in my mind, but it may be time to start salivating about 2022. GO DEMONS!! -

This is good news for Clarry and Max who get pummelled regularly and with impunity. -

St Kilda vs Fitzroy, VFL Park, round 11 1985. St Kilda 8.11 d. Fitzroy 5.13. I think Fitzroy kicked two goals in 10 minutes and Peter Landy made the instant classic comment "bang bang". You'll never regret having that to watch over and over again. -
Not just footballers. Anyone in the public eye can struggle with the attention. If anyone remembers the teenage heart-throb David Cassidy, he was on top of the world but thoroughly miserable because he couldn't deal with being in the spotlight all the time. He wouldn't be the only one. Look at Billie Eilish.

These boys actually did it. Crikey. Melbourne premiers. They actually did it.
