  1. CFC 2021: 1972 points against. 500 more than the top 3 teams. Only one team gave away more - the wooden spooners. "Make Grundy elite." "But boss, the numbers don't--" "I said, make him elite." "Well, I'll try, but no matter how I put different weightings on things ..." "I had Darren Millane's poster on my wall as a kid. And Nathan Buckley's as an adult. Grundy's elite. Make him elite or you'll be doing the stats for synchronised swimming." "Yes boss."
  2. "Hmmm .... let's think ... we're too old? .... no, we are too old. Melbourne got lucky? Nah ... umpires are terrible ... nah, that never flies ... Corona virus? But we've all been tested. .... hmm .... virus ... we got hit with a virus ... Got it. We were affected by a mysterious virus. Measles? Malaria? How about good old gastro? We got hit by gastro. Several of our players were affected pre-game by gastro. Okay, I think I can make this work."
  3. Tell any coach they've got the entire league to pick a team from. Who gets picked first as ruckman? Ah ... so he stands out when he's got the ball. Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way!
  4. Oh, hell. Max Gawn not elite. What a blow to our flag chances. And the season hasn't even started. Shockwaves at Casey tonight. (Ask the Cats what they think of Gawn?) Crikey, I dunno how we scraped past the Dogs in September. They've got seven (7) elite players. Meanwhile ... Saad elite. Right. Who would you pick if you had the chance, Saad or Walsh?
  5. Looking forward to our next game against them. It's good to be on top.
  6. If he felt like that, he could have taken out his frustrations in a socially acceptable way by watching replays of us kicking Cats 3 times in a season.
  7. If we don't pick Dunstan to play in our match against St K, we're mad. "Howz yer perception now, Ratts???"
  8. They'll be too scared to go, after what happened on Sep 25
  9. Same last week. Game was alive with 5 min to go when it should have been iced at 3/4 time. If we miss a flag this year it could be down to loose goal kicking.
  10. +1 Jontee! I would watch Giants games just to watch Hogan playing well. He's a rare talent. But the sliding door can't be slid back. All the best, Hoges. GO DEMONS!!!
  11. One thing I enjoy very much about D'land is the connection between people who got on board in the Norm Smith era, in the dark years, the Northey years, the Daniher years, and the dark years again, leading up to now. I like that everyone got on at a different station but we're on the same train ride. GO DEMONS!!!
  12. I think half our guys on 186 day had pulled a heart muscle before the start of the game. After the interview, they went out for drinks, went dancing, got soaked in a sudden rain shower and laughed their heads off about it, cuddled in the night bus on the way home, and I won't tell you how the night ended.
  13. He went looking for "comfortable". "Comfortable" and "elite" don't go together. All the best, Hoges, but you'd be better off in the ammos killing it every weekend and having a few beers and laughs with the boys.
  14. They were so incapacitated they didn't even activate the emergency player. [censored] happens. They're not the first or the last team to have some players not 100%. Or look at the Suns. Whatsit King has done his ACL; shattering, but are we going to hear any whingeing from them? No. Are we going to hear Dew saying "I'm not making excuses but we didn't have King all season"? No. Scott's losing the plot. Man under pressure.
  15. "Nah mate, you're not the coach in the firing line this week. It's that other [censored], the one who shoots back, that we're after."
  16. I think this is likely it. Huge ructions amongst their supporter base about their game plan that wins on the mortadella shaped home ground, but doesn't stand up in finals.
  17. It's the aged care residents that Scott's talking about! You are correct. But it can work. And it didn't stop Clarkson from trying. Reminds me of the days of Sheedy when he was practically a one-man official rules committee.
  18. It's more than the skillset of Hogan. It's the mindset. Watts was moved on coz he didn't have the head for finals football that May, Viney, Sparrow, etc etc, have. Hogan similar. He went hard when he wanted to. Not all the time as Goodwin requires. Garlett also comes to mind. Goodwin's shaped the list as a bunch of ferocious goers and we saw in the finals what an unstoppable force they are when they're on. Hogan would be out of place in this team.
  19. Ha ha! We let down our hair and took off our glasses and the high school quarterback suddenly realised: holy cow ... she's the 2021 AFL premier! and asked us to the prom.
  20. Yep. It's a "player managers are fascinating and valuable people" ad for an upcoming TV show. Bit like the real estate sections of the newspapers, where the reporters just take dictation straight from the offices of real estate agents.
  21. It was also vindication that Robbie really belonged up there with the elite players.
  22. Goodwin looks like a dead man walking premiership coach about to have his contract extended.
  23. SOO on the pre-finals weekend off, players from clubs not in finals. Or on the pre-GF weekend, if the AFL are determined to keep on with that. Or curtain raiser to the night GF which the AFL are sneaking into position in plain sight. Alternate between Vic v WA and Vic v SA as WA v SA doesn't seem to get crow/groper blood pumping. Curtain raiser Qld v NSW v Tas (some combination). If those states get good they can challenge WA or SA for the right to play the Vics.
  24. Coaches like sheedy & Malthouse devalued it by refusing to let stars play. WA and SA got teams in the national comp and got their jollies by projecting state loyalties & vendettas on to them. "West Coast" Eagles. That'll show those "East Coast" guys. And Adelaide just happened to choose state colours for the club jersey.
  25. To turn it around, what are the fans saying to Hinkley? I can't be bothered to do a "what they're saying down at Alberton" opus, but if you check out the Port sub forum on bigfooty, you will see the natives are more than restless. Makes Goodwin circa 2019 seem like Barassi/Hafey/Sheedy/Clarkson combined.
