  2. Maybe Clarko will have had enough at North Melbourne by then and they'll ask him to come back.
  3. Wasn't sure if the singular supporter was intentional, but gees it cracked me up.
  4. I'd have Stinga and Flower on my two wings, which would be a problem as they both wore #2.
  5. I don't mind the sub rule. I think the AFL recognises that you can't have massive benches (4 max is about right), as (i) it's a game of fatigue and (ii) they need to try to maintain parity between teams with varying sized injury lists. It allows a selection committee to actually give an untried kid a go, on the basis he'll play less than a half of footy and get a feel for footy at the highest level without compromising a full time rotation. It allows us to get veterans up to milestone games at the club, and use their footballing talents in a short burst for maximum effect, where we would otherwise have picked someone younger, fresher and less banged up. Otherwise we're picking 5 athletes who can run a marathon at high speed every week.
  6. The season is a marathon. His job as coach is to come up with a game plan and condition his players to survive and thrive the season rather than tinker with the rules to suit how youโ€™d rather do it instead. Nobody else making noise over this. He should stay in his lane, particularly as another poster observed, he had the power last year when working for the AFL to make this change but didnโ€™t.
  7. Donโ€™t disagree, but I reckon this thread is as much about the journey as the destination. Enjoy the scenery on the drive!
  8. I might be wrong, but I donโ€™t think JVR has missed a shot on goal yet. Loving his assured kicking for goal.
  9. We had a team of fringe players for 10 years and it didnโ€™t work for us. Sadly we were very predictable.
  10. Came straight here for a laugh after seeing the result and havenโ€™t been disappointed๐Ÿ˜
  11. Iโ€™d be โ€œrestingโ€ Riewoldt too. As good as heโ€™s been over his career, unfortunately I reckon he is a passenger in the forward line this year, hasnโ€™t done anything particularly memorable and should have retired last year.
  12. Goody is big on respecting the competition and our opposition, but I hope heโ€™s also big on ensuring we send a message to the league that weโ€™re ruthless and will stand on the throats of weakened opposition. Bring your absolute best against us or fear the consequences.
  13. https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/kysaiah-pickett-will-play-in-demons-midfield-in-return-from-suspension/news-story/98bb527fd0b27f8d2bb33764c4f3ed60 I concur - sounds to me like TMac, Kossie are ins. BBB stays home. I'd say on the basis it's a midfielder dropped for Kossie, that Milkshake out and JJ/Tom Sparrow to tactical sub.
  14. After 35 years. That shows you don't really hold too much of a grudge.
  15. Hopefully the pies struggle in the conditions tonight which will help me rationalise why we were so bad.
  16. Now he's seen Goody moving the magnets, I bet he wants Petty's place in the forward line and is auditioning
  17. Completely agree with this. im glad I canโ€™t get done for umpire dissent, but I donโ€™t write it down. Generally because Iโ€™m too busy cursing.
  18. Spoken like a true educator Adam! Hope fatherhood is going well for you mate
  19. Still love the commentary โ€œMax pulls out the driver, sets sails for homeโ€ spine tingling
  20. We could do a 3k time trial around the trackโ€ฆ.

Plus you need time to get back to your seats to actually watch the game.

Great thread this one. Thanks for sharing!
  23. Who is VDR? Darth Vader?
  24. I thought Buddy played in several instances outside the rules, and is starting to impact his legacy
  25. Who does get demoted then? I saw 22 players that contributed strongly, but we canโ€™t leave Kossie out.
