  1. I'm aligned with all who question the severity of the hit given the lack of immediate medical oversight, and symptoms surfacing in the rooms afterwards. i wonder if Rowe drove home from the ground, or whether his doctors advised him against it given his "condition"
  2. I'm surprised that the MRP haven't given Max 15 weeks for something or other, Jack Viney half a dozen for just plain being aggressive. But I do agree that having a go behind the play isn't smart. However, I strongly believe that the AFL with the gazbillions of dollars they make through TV deals have a DUTY to (a) make the game explainable to foreigners and not open to interpretation from an umpiring perspective (who knows if the umpires are on the take given they're not full time) and (b) protect the players, but (c) remove any ambiguity from the sanction process. Mark Evans was on SEN this evening explaining the MRP have multiple means of grading any incident to achieve the outcome they're looking for - i.e. the ambiguity is inherently built in. This dictatorship approach only falls apart once WADA become involved and the AFL can't self govern any more.
  3. I'm sure the MRP have a spinning wheel which decides the penalty, so they won't know either until the wheel stops
  4. I see this quintessentially as a champion team vs a team of champions discussion. We all have strengths and weaknesses; a great team cover each other's weaknesses and collectively prevail. The work rate shown in the last 3 qtrs last week demonstrated to me that this team plays for each other (I see no howling about Lewis's 6 clangers, for instance). Players will work on their own areas of weakness, but it's the team acts that win you a flag (Johannisen won a NS medal despite average possessions).
  5. I feel like I've been reading threads for the last 5 years on how crap we were. Now the sun is shining, and I'm still reading these threads. Bails was definitely a gentleman in the truest sense of the word, and is missed. Breakfast with Bails is a great read if you haven't read it. Time for positive (with constructive criticism) threads about a winning team and culture.
  6. How slick was your canteen lady at handpassing the sausage rolls?
  7. Nah, not quite there yet. Need to win a flag...
  8. I'll just bring this thread back to Jason Taylor. I must admit on 2015 draft night I was surprised when I didn't see Parish picked up then looked up Clayton Oliver's highlights package and specs. Was even more surprised to see a heavily built player but liked his contested possession highlights. It's a credit to Taylor + recruiting team that they looked deeper into whether he had the mental strength to condition himself for AFL (he had done some work prior to draft night, which would have provided confidence) and an even bigger credit to Clarry for the work that he's done between then and now to get to where he is now. God only knows how good we'll be if he keeps working at the same rate. I've just got a warm fuzzy feeling all over at the moment...
  9. Reports now confirming Bernie has accepted the one match ban. Have a look at the vision in the attached article - he's hit him with his armpit in the upper back. FMD. Don't want to lose him for two games though.... http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-03-28/mrp-vince-varcoe-offered-bans-fines-for-catsdockers?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News
  10. I love the feigned looks of amusement from those around him. Priceless.
  11. I was looking at your hashtag and it reminded me of goody two shoes. Maybe we need to send Alan Richardson some #goodytissues
  12. Clearance and Max included in this week's team of the week. Nate Jones unlucky to miss out. What odds would you get that Max will make the team every week this year? http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-03-28/team-of-the-week-round-one?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News
  13. I'd be happier with Frost in the backline over Oscar at the moment. I think Oscar has a long future in the backline, but needs to hone/perfect his craft at VFL level. I also think Frost is a better intercept/rebound defender. Not sure how Frosty's toe is holding up at present.
  14. Just been released - 2 weeks for striking (intentional), low impact. Down to 1 week with an early plea Casboult got a fine for rough conduct (careless), low impact. Not sure how these muppets operate
  15. I don't know - ol' f..k works for me
  16. Who's the most opposite of Saty poster on this site?? That'd be my guess....
  17. The other factor I haven't seen discussed is that it's an away game for us and as such I suspect we'll be wearing that awful white away strip. NBG.
  18. Hopefully Cripps is more than a week away. I'd be happy enough with 2 weeks away at this stage.
  19. If he's an 80% chance to win a 50/50 ball, then in all probability we're between a 50-100% chance to win the game. take it to the bank.
  20. There's some elements to this team selection that I really like, some elements I'd do differently - but what I'm really pleased to see is that Goody in picking his first up team hasn't gone safe. He's honouring the guys who have pre-requisite fitness through a hard pre-season and it gives the squad clear evidence that there's a spot in the team for you if you continue to do the right things. We have a good team on paper this week, and our depth understanding that they've got good future prospects given a match committee who fully considers all options. The only way is up.
  21. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I SAW THE PICTURES FIRST UP....KB; the horrible house elf.
  22. I took that one literally Biff (because I agreed with the sentiment) - then I worked it out....
