  1. My boy (typically) lost his membership card on the way home from the QB game. I wrote to the club to get a replacement, promising he hadn’t cooked it in the microwave. ? But somebody found it and sent it back to the club, they’re now posting it back to us. Your post plus the kind soul who returned my boy’s card just reinforce my belief that there’s some fair dinkum good people out there still.
  2. If the 4 umpires equates to 2 field umpires and 2 additional goal umpires, then I’m all for it.
  3. New interpretation of holding the ball
  4. I’d give us a B+ for (finally) belting teams that we should. It would have been a B- if not. I’d have given us a A if we’d had close losses against the better teams, it’s the nature of these losses which is the most concerning, we seem to lack some answers at the moment.
  5. I was thinking no, but you’ve swayed me Red with irrefutable logic.
  6. The flag might have helped those numbers a bit (tigers, anyone?)
  7. I agree with the sentiment that the decision on Pert will have involved a process of his impressing the board with his vision for the club moving forward - how to improve revenues (aligned with club direction on no pokies), higher memberships, his experience on building a state of the art training base (with social facilities). Having a seasoned professional who's seen it all from the perspective of taking a club from 38,000 members to 75,000 will have more upside than downside. If, however, he re-introduces Whiteboard Wednesday, I'll spew and firebomb Glen Bartlett's car myself.
  8. Don't forget Andrew that he dropped himself as well. Never seen that before (or likely to again).
  9. I hope he responds in the third person.
  10. This place is unrecognisable with all this optimism. Dees by 15 goals.
  11. It’s my second favourite Jack Viney moment (Mav Weller tackle #1)
  12. This is a rippa interview. Really impressed.
  13. Would you rather have the best crop of under 25 talent in the league, or a paragraph in the story about a young player going alright for you in an overall mediocre squad, in the story to add “balance”? Our footy does the talking now.
  14. This thread, despite its uplifting title, seems to be regurgitating past pain for no apparent benefit. last night, I was channel surfing in bed and came across a Ch44 show called That’s good for footy, or something similar. Low budget weekly show with 2 AFL guest players doing Q&A (really good). Last nights show had Maxy and Jesse on. They were great club ambassadors, only two questions stuck but I thought I’d share: 1. What do you think when you see a kid at the footy wearing a jersey with your number on their back? Max: That we’ve got great club history and Jimmy Stynes is well remembered Jesse: I feel sorry for the kid whose dad couldn’t afford to get the extra 1 to put on the jumper 2. What’s the one word that comes to mind when you think of in playing for Melbourne? Max: Honour (emphasised the club history, oldest club etc) Jesse: Privileged Listening to this show, it dawned on me that these guys are starting to see themselves as a unit creating a modern legacy.
  15. Happy that Melksham is named in the starting 18, big in. i reckon the bench is Nibbler, J Smith, Pedo and Garlett (for Hannan, inj)
  16. I read this thread and I’m just thankful I’m not an opposition coach trying to defend the overall forwardline fire power. If he’s the weakest we’ve got, I’m in heaven.
  17. Should be set to Benny hill theme
  18. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet
  19. And we get done for tanking...
  20. I’ll never forget the noise erupting from the punt road end when Watts kicked the sealer. The look on my boy’s face was priceless
  21. If it was picket fence, then nothing to worry about
  22. Keep the ball in the forward line Im not having kittens about this, as good as Lever is. We defend the whole ground well (how often do you see either TMac or Hogan back during a game) and both Nev and Hibbo are strong intercept marks. I hope they give Joel Smith a crack, but I don’t think our season, or even next weeks result, is hanging on the choice.
  23. His tv show would be called How to get away with murder - Razor style
