PODCAST: Rd 04 vs Adelaide
Q: The SA plan was executed so perfectly you have to wonder if it wasn't 6 months in the making. October last year did we come up with this double header idea and pitch it to head of AFL fixturing, given we had Harrison Petty wanting to be closer to family with a supposed interest in a trade, before being convinced to stay. Perhaps his contract honoring came with a promise from the club to do their best to get him extra time with family in-season? As well as a team bonding exercise for all again bubble style, it's ended up a stroke of genius. Our performances the envy of the competition. Plan or happy coincidence? What do the think team? BOnus Q: In the media there was talk of a rotation of teams playing Port and Adelaide in the proceeding years, for fairness given its a tough road trip at the best of times. Would the club want a match v Port/Adel in gather round again next year if given the oppurtunity? Make it our own locked in fixture? And another back to back over there? Or an SA team then Neutral Gather round opponent? Could we be so lucky? Or would the club prefer to go back to fixturing randomness? Get out with the two wins and not push it! I can imagine other clubs wanting to play there a week earlier now. Maybe the AFL should only give clubs the week earlier match in SA IF they play Port/Adel in gather round. For fairness. - Edited more at 11pm as the fixture variations are a bit complex.

When are the media going to come out of the woodwork and call the Lions "A wasted Dynasty that even got off the ground/won a flag"

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
Agree. We keep Brown until he needs a rest or hits a rough patch (Prob in wet weather) - Petty comes in for SA games. Its not out of the realm of possibility we go with 3 talls. Or that JVR gets dropped on form, before both. No one can predict what the best forward line mix will be come September. Roll with it!

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
It's way too early, but It just seems that there are a bunch of teams like Geelong, Adelaide, Freo, Port, who have a tougher underbelly and are gearing themselves towards adding pressure and defence with their attack. Those attitributes should help them leap frog the Dogs, who are stuck in Bevo Land and need a fresh start - they just can't learn to defend territorially. Then you've got the northern academy teams who are sure to feature heavily in the finals. Leaving Coll/Carl/Melb probably up there too as the big Vics. I just can't see a reason for the Dogs to get out of the bottom 6. Talent doesn't get you beyond that anymore.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
Personally I don't believe that. On the small sample size of the weekends form: Freo and GCS have probably gone past the Dogs and their lacklustre defence of our ball movement in the middle and forward line. Essendon and the Dogs are about the only teams that are 1 step up from the North/WCE/Hawk level. Bevo will be gone by years end.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Just Imagine how emotional Robbo would be if it was Zack Merrett. Not only back then, but 6 months later now when discussing this media retirement topic. Instead he's cold and dispassionate (for once) to the suffering Gus has gone through. The bloke gets his knickers in a twist about anything else. Could say the same about the rest of the media. If it was Daicos taken out and medically retired, how is McGuire arguing about whether it comes out of the cap or not, today? He would've erupted then and would still be erupting, flushed like a red tomato. Lloyd and Merrett? L Mathews and Lachie Neale. Kornes and Rozee, Caro and Dustin Martin. All of these pr1cks would change their tune about the suspension and the cap talk, if it happened to their own player/club. Instead it's remarkably quiet. Very Elephant in the Roomy. You'll have to excuse me, I saw the incident again and saw that thug veer towards him. Roused me again into anger.
