  1. What's the final siren?
  2. I thought that too, but the tone of today seemed more stand offish. I still expect them to ask for more than that. Whether it's an extra pick in the 20-30 mark I don't know. Look at the Gibbs trade. 10 & 17 for Gibbs and a 2nd and 3rd coming back. Could be something comparable.
  3. Why would GCS not hold onto May and keep a probable 2019 compo Pick 3? We'll need to offer a little more. Lots of pick swapping to go under the bridge.
  4. Well the thing with Dangerfield was that im pretty sure they agreed to a good faith trade that was outside the RFA/FA system. I'm not sure how applicable it was, but I think that's where i was aiming the gaff/hogan thing. Just a gentlemans agreement to sort out for a way to get him over here. I was thinking he'd take 1.05mil, to play with a closer team to a premiership, but maybe its fanciful.
  5. You're correct, This idea is operating under the assumption that Gaff will change his mind and pick the Dees out of a sense of duty to get Hogan to WCE. We're so far off from that happening, but stranger things have happened. Anyway, happy to put this idea to rest and let it play out.

  7. Said this to a WCE fan that thinks Gaff for Hogan is fair. "If we don't want to give you Hogan, then you're left with whatever you get for Gaff from the NM trade either a compo pick, or what Nm can trade you if you match. Therefore our bargaining chip is that all we have to do is give you what NM can comparatively give you. I think Hogan satisfies that end already. Now you need to give us a better offer than what Freo will have to give, to make us want to give you Hogan. We're asking two top 10 picks. Gaff may be a high quality player, but as an RFA he doesn't really come with that much value as you're not exactly going to get that much from NM if you match. So as we're ontrading a top 10 pick for Steven May in the Freo deal. What we need are picks from you that can get us Steven May. If we get Gaff + May then that beats Freo's Pick 10 & S. May. That will make us want to come on board and get Hogan to WCE. Free agency sucks for the clubs, but thats what the players association won."
  8. Ill confess my ignorance on the matter of picks and clubs salary caps. Im just curious if WCE's admission of interest in Hogan can shift the landscape today and get us Gaff somehow. Perhaps its too fanciful.
  9. Is it not possible that they pay 150-200k per year and allow us to match the NM Gaff offer, we give Hogan for their pick 20 & 21? Gaff just needs convincing to join us on our 1mil per year offer (1.2m after subsidy) What are the drawbacks that im failing to see here? Seems a win win. Matching NM and getting their pick 10 doesnt seem that great comparatively
  10. I thought they needed 1.2mill xap space to match? Thats why i thought it served their interest to pay some of gaffs salary at MFC in exchange for us accepting their pick 20 & 2 for Hogan
  11. On his spud gun. Pick 20 & 21 !! No, but seriously, convince gaff to join us and pay some of his salary to reach NM's figure and then we'll talk picks for Hogan, Simmo
  12. Thats the most gumption Richo has ever displayed.

  14. Well yeah thats the modus operandi, but i do think there is an underlying bias towards wanting big fan base vic clubs v interstate clubs contending every year. For a team thats already a contender (without the player theyre trading) to get two top 10 picks, well it might be unpalletable for media commentators who are fans of a few of these clubs. As the poster said above, i just get the feeling they're trying to shape the narrative and soften us up for the "briLliaNt TraDe IdEa" theyve (McCLure) come up with Bit of an illumaniti hot take, but so be it.
  15. One fella said it earlier on forum, theyre subconsciously trying to shape the narrative and keep a smaller vic club and prelim team from getting two 1st round picks and becoming a force.
  16. Im no psychologist, but maybe jesse would thrive more under a grumpy dad figure that makes instructions simple, stubbornly rigid and authoritarian. Perhaps Goody is more of your younger big brother entrepreneurial leader with a more innovative and player-entrusting ethos that probably didnt resonate well enough for him or provide enough scaffolding to stay interstate after his unfortunate personal circumstances. i could be wrong though
  17. Hilariously a big WA paper has conveniently referenced an obscure data analytic footy website (HPN) to evaluate Hogan as pick 8-10 https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl-trades/afl-trades-2018-what-is-jesse-hogan-actually-worth-ng-b88979434z Although saying that wont get done is accurate. They've suggested the likelihood is: "If Melbourne are stuck on receiving two first-rounders, the other option would be for the Dockers to trade a future pick and bank on improving or perhaps swap an early pick this year for two late first-rounders, staying in the draft and satisfying the Dees at the same time."
  18. Are we all pretending this wasnt a trade based on nothing more than GCS needing players who want to be there? Im all for demanding more than pick 4, but the inflated value of Weller shouldnt be the new value guide for the AFL because Nek minnit gcs want more than pick 5 for May
  19. I wouldve asked for Taberner, but i think Preuss negates the need for a third forward. I think Brayshaw would be a fantastic get, i believe disposal out of defence is the bigger determiner of spread and speed on the wing, and our small forwards can provide up ground coverage. May, Omac, Lever, Hibb, Salem, KK. We would be elite. So we could then have a player of Brayshaws & Fritsch class and footy iq on the wing, with a small time in middle for development We would obviously have to give back a pick i think. 2nd round ?
  20. Which player fits our club and is a realistic possibility?
  21. Mahoney said its may or hogan cap space wise. How on earth can we have Hogan, May & Gaff in the same team?
  22. Media wankers doing their best to tell us we're better with May than with Hogan r1, therefore a straight swap. I dont think i can listen to this [censored] for two weeks. Club's fans know that these commentators dont have any specialized knowledge on their individual clubs, and really only have a broad view. Whats the point of listening and rolling my eyes!
  23. Suffer in your jocks Lloydy
  24. This reasoning is a bit black and white. Does that mean a top clubs delistees are all relist-able? The SOS rule.
