That is brilliant Six6six. Love that action photography and as mentioned by Dazzle it really shows the player’s muscular definition and I am even more buoyant about our kids coming through. I also loved the Easy Beats on the sound track they were a favourite of mine back in the early - mid 60’s, they did a stint up in Mildura I think at the Murray Moon dance hall and a bunch of friends and I got to meet them and have a smoke out the front of the hall with them. We were all very young at the time. Great memories.!!

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 19th January 2024
DeeZone replied to george_on_the_outer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks WW for reminding us just how good Nibbler really is. -
Agree 3165 but he is not one paced, he uses his pace when it is needed he is a 93-96kg bull that knows how to find space and exploit the opposition players. I do not compare him to ANB, Eddie Langdon, Lachie Hunter or even Kozzie’s ability to gut run all day.
-
I only missed one home game last year and was at both finals as well, did you notice that when Trac comes out of the centre square with ball in hand he is rarely run down, he has pace agility and brute strength. Watch the granny in ‘21 they couldn’t lay a glove on him.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 19th January 2024

That is true Jeremy and that is where Billing’s, Kozzie, Laurie, Woewodin, Salem and Rivers will help maintain the rotations with Trac, JV and Sparrow until Clayton gets back to business. -
PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 19th January 2024

Confidence is a wonderful thing, we have seen what it can do to a players performance, we have seen how our senior players influence and lift the spirits and performance of our younger players and how that escalates their development. Why is this now going to stop? We have seen Petty, Sparrow, JJ, Kozzie, Rivers, Jacko, Bowey, JVR and McVee rocket up the charts. Now we have Laurie, Woey, Turner, Howes searching for a spot in the side and we are seeing positive signs from AMW, Verrall, Adams and Farris-White, plus we have our new group of Windsor, Tholstrup and Brown finding their feet at the club. On top of that we have bought in McAdam to bolster our Fwd line, Billing’s to add class to our mid/fwd and Fullarton a youngish ruck/fwd to support Max and yet we have supporters that see our demise as a force in the AFL. We can’t fit them all in the side but given our success rate they will be ready when and if we need them. Have some confidence in the club. Plus Oliver Sestan and Marty Hore. Can’t believe I left out Jefferson airplane. We really are loaded aren’t we. -

Agree with some comments re Nibbler but as Binman and others have pointed out numerous times he gut runs up and down the ground all game, pressuring, supporting, kicking, marking, hand balling and tackling opponents and sometimes when he gets to the end of his run he is running on empty when he takes that last kick, is it any wonder that some go askew. I now appreciate nibblers role in the team and cut him some slack. I still grimace but understand his dilemma. -
Take a look at the latest Trac review on the MFC website, he has pace to burn when needed.!!
-
Could have been divine intervention by parent or sibling, from my experience they aren’t that smart(but don’t quote me).!!
-
I am expecting a lot more of Tom Sparrow in the midfield with Taj Woewodin taking on the JJ/ Sparrow bits n pieces roles required by the team. Laurie should also get some time in the middle and expecting Riv and Howes to provide some extra run through half back and midfield to open up the corridor with their height marking and run and carry. Everyone needs to step up because Windsor, Tholstrup and 38 could pass them by at some point in ‘24.
-
Agree LITD the two teams outside the eight that will be pushing for finals are Crows and Suns, there is a lot of talent in those teams but will depend on injuries, Crows had a great run in ‘23 can they do it again this year.?
-
Jake Lever is another of our great defender’s and club leaders who is entering the prime of his career. Jake is a great mark and interceptor, we need Jake fit and firing if we are to lift the cup in ‘24.!!
-
Steven May just seems to get better and better, premium defender that hates to lose let’s hope that Maysie can maintain the rage for another 2-3 years and celebrate another couple of premierships.!!
-
Gus was having a great season until taken out by that dog Maynard, a fit firing Angus Brayshaw makes us a much more talented and better team. Good luck in 2024 Gus.!!
-
I’m thinking Brayden Maynard.

An injury free Jack Viney is a sight to behold, he played inspired footy in 2023 a real dynamo. Good luck this year Jack you deserve it.

2023 Player Reviews: # 5 Christian Petracca
DeeZone replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I must admit that I love Christian Petracca our outright best player in 2023, let’s hope that he has another huge year in 2024 and he gets back to finishing off the majority Of his opportunities.!! -
Thanks Werridee that is a lot of research on the other 17 clubs, just looking through the lists there are a lot of ageing stars and you can only wonder which teams are going to be struck down by the injury gods in 2024. Also I would have Shane McAdam in our best 23.😁
-
Ha ha Cheap Seats I think Nibbler eased himself out of the chair whilst we were distracted by a number of other non performing players.!!
-
Agree with Gator, Webber and you pose some interesting possibilities binman, I am definitely the glass half full when it comes to our squad. I see McAdam replaces Jake Melksham, Billing’s covers James Harmes role whilst the Kolt and the Duke develop and Woewodin comes in and replaces JJ’s role in the team. He looks ready to go and should get plenty of opportunities particularly whilst Clayton is out. I am also hopeful that Laurie, Howes and Disco get plenty of game time early in the season.
-
Agree Rod was a shame for Nev Jetta, Nathan Jones and of course Jayden Hunt they were all great servants of the club.
-
Thanks WCW, Waynew, startibart, Kev, Sydee and all other posters great reports from Gosh’s today. I love the reports and special comments they have made my day and such a crappy start to the day as well.
-
Did you see the latest interview of Jacob van Rooyen on the MFC website. How impressive and refreshing is this young man, when asked about the new kids coming through he responds with - love seeing the new recruits as we will be playing together for the next 10 years. Those sentiments warm the cockles of the heart.
-
The way we were - 2013 preseason. Annus horribilis
DeeZone replied to Six6Six's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks 6six6 that is great footage nice to see some footage of young players such as Gawn, McDonals, Watts, Jones, Jetta and Davies running around we expected so much and received so little, we certainly were hampered by serious injuries and inept player management.! -
According to Ch7 the aFL have made the move so that players won’t be “Fat Shamed”, what an absolute load of garbage. Oohh I am so Woke I can’t stand up straight. Lol.!!!!
