  1. Good mail redleg, I’ve had confirmed that we are “being considered as a tenant” but nothing official. This coming from an existing tenant. Long time coming. I may be singing the praises of Pert & Roffey once it lands.
  2. Barrass to stay - bodes well for our chances to secure pick 1. At the same time, it increases the premium on key defenders, as McKay prepares to exit North. This might bring compensation further into play and if we are to keep our earlier picks.
  3. Don’t worry mate, it’s not a hole. It just has limited obvious appeal to a dumb kid. But we’re talking about footballers here, so not many Rhodes scholars among them.
  4. I think you’d be missing the point. Goyder would enjoy having 1 extra vote up his sleeve to control the board, and what better puppet than a bloke that grossly overestimates his own smarts & charisma?
  5. As I said - I would agree now! Changing tastes. Just a lot quieter than I liked at that age, but then again I was a fan of the big cities that don’t sleep. How to derail a thread in 3 easy steps... I see Brad Scott has been caught waxing lyrical over Harley on 360.
  6. I think the narrow view you speak of may be more appropriate than your own, considering the demographic and company I kept would be very similar to what Harley would find himself in. And no, I didn’t venture to Freo, Cott or Scarborough then (on a Sunday at least) but I did 4 years ago & there wasn’t much change. Each to their own.
  7. I was in some fancy hotel in the city with a bunch of footballers including some then-soon-to-be AFL players and a former Brownlow medallist, funnily enough. Also spent some time in Margaret River on that trip.
  8. I’d say this is fairly obviously a primer, as to take this at face value it’s preposterous. Gil & Goyder would have pontificated on appointing Dangerfield to the board upon retirement, lamenting that it’d be widely seen as too soon. How do we make that more palatable? Propose doing it while he’s still playing. It’s absurd and would never eventuate, but framing it in such a way makes a quick transfer once the bails have been removed far more acceptable to the masses. Can’t stand the suggestion though, the bloke is a pill.
  9. I agree with him, but doubt I would have at the same age. Each to their own, but I wouldn’t be going there for the bars. And good luck finding anything open on a Sunday.
  10. Just facts darling. The point is, the prevailing attitude from the residents was there is bugger all to do in Perth.
  11. I recall being in Perth for the first time about 20 years ago (around the same age as a young AFL draftee), and when we asked locals of the same age bracket what there was to do around town the common response (particularly from females) was “have sex and do drugs, not much else to do here.” It was like it was a tourism slogan, but it definitely seemed the case from a young persons point of view. Cant imagine it has changed that much.
  12. I see a bit of Toby Green in him. Running is exceptional, just keeps following up to stay involved. Hits targets, great evasion, stands up in tackles. A lot to like.
  13. My primitive understanding of the Lisfranc would indicate Goodwin was telling fibs when he said the previous injury was a Lisfranc, considering the turnaround time on the injury. Unless exceptionally minor.
  14. Some in the media seem to have made a case that if Grundy were to go to another club, then Collingwood would be absolved if their obligation to pay a portion of his salary. I can’t see how this is correct. It’s a terrible clause to allow to be written into the contract, if that is the case. Bordering on a sackable offence. The implication being that we’d then need to negotiate paying a portion of Grundy’s full salary just to move him. As unlikely as it is, if it is in fact somehow true, this would make us much more unlikely to agree to a move away.
  15. I would, I’m just nervous that my uneducated opinion is probably wrong. I’d think pick 4 & 7/8 would do it. Thinking we’d get 7/8 from GC for a collection of 2nd rounders. I think giving up much more might be a bridge too far.
  16. Would probably save us from ourselves if it were the case. Could easily live to regret parting with the requisite picks once the potential is realised for the eagles.
  17. I stopped reading at “Jon Ralph.” Seriously, that’s like Port’s haul of Rozee, Butters & Duursma in one fell swoop. Or even our own Jackson, Pickett & Rivers.
  18. Also so GC’s pick slides up to 6 or 7, making it more realistic for us to attain.
  19. My uneducated concerns with HR are that he’s a man playing against boys, and the tank/willingness to run hard both ways. I do like the look of Duursma, but his performances this year have been lacklustre. He gives the impression he could go on build up his body & exclipse Reid in a couple of years. He could also be Cale Morton. Hopefully we get this right.
  20. *cough* a précis would be welcome
  21. Tentatively on an extended interchange, at that.
  22. Gresham would spell trouble for Bill Laurie. Questionable disposal at times & has exhibited some very selfish behaviour at times (or self-preserving) but his agility & evasion can be elite. I think he’d cost more than we’d want to pay however.
  23. Not sure why anyone seems to be worried about Gawn & JVR against the Roos. It seems to me like a relatively risk free opportunity to test JVR against a decent ruck opposition. Gotta find out if he’ll be up to the task against quality opposition in the finals. I still think Grundy will have a part to play in the run at a flag.
  24. Makes more sense. At least it’s within their own framework. A freak occurrence of backtracking on their new-ish NGA rule doesn’t make much sense.
  25. I won’t care if we get pick 1. A lot of water to go under the bridge.
