  1. What’s with everyone’s hard-on for Stafford to get it in the neck?
  2. The uh... second half of the season that he mostly missed due to injury? Expert appraisal.
  3. I do wonder about the condition of Petty’s Lisfranc. I also believe Thilthorpe has been left out of the Crom side from time to time, which surprised me considering his lofty rating. The height fits our desired profile.
  4. Yeah fair enough. Just seemed like a very confident statement about a bloke who spends considerable time discussing trade rumours for a living at this time of year! I agree, he is not like Kane or Hagdorn. But he might be prone to repeating something from a source with an agenda.
  5. “Given he’s probably getting his info from the people making the decision I’d be surprised if he’s wrong.” It will be interesting to see...
  6. Who would’ve guessed? Albeit not confirmed yet.
  7. RE: Rory Lobb, can’t remember where exactly (podcast?) but I heard it from Gawn’s mouth that when we initially introduced Gawn to the idea of recruiting Grundy, he was told we had someone unexpectedly available lined up to replace LJ, and his immediate response was “oh, please don’t tell me it’s [censored]ing Rory Lobb.” Cant take the suggest seriously but scared of the proposition at the same time.
  8. 2017 called, it wants its thread back.
  9. He was an assistant at Hawthorn, then coached at Moama (?), then an assistant at Adelaide, before returning to MFC. So far off.
  10. I recall hearing this too, some time later, although I doubted it’s veracity. Having said that, Viney may have taken ownership for the decision and responsibility for informing the family, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the decision was in fact his or his alone.
  11. Company line. My recollection is that Todd didn’t initially come back in a list management position, and that the list manager at the time was one Tim Harrington.
  12. Yeah, but you’re giving up pick 13 to shuffle pick 10 up by 3 spots. It’s not about unders, this would be idiotic. This is like Carlton giving up pick 2 for Liam Stocker level ineptitude.
  13. Absurd since we already have picks 5 & 13. Might as well just say we might acquire 10 also.
  14. I think as a supporter base in general we underestimate Jimmy Jordon’s ability and scope for improvement. I dare say if he didn’t find himself in the (for him) fortuitous situation where he is an “early” FA, he would not be moving clubs.
  15. I’d hope his age will be a mitigating factor in returning us a 2nd round pick. https://www.afl.com.au/about-afl/free-agency Compensation A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL. The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on: 1. The new contract of the free agent; 2. The age of the free agent. Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period. Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places: • 1st round • end of 1st round • 2nd round • end of 2nd round • 3rd round In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.
  16. Depends on the contract he is leaving on. Could be for no return.
  17. Without knowing the inner workingS my expectation would be that when a player changes clubs in this way, the contract agreement would be novated to the “new club”, and a “new contract” created between the “old club” and the player for the balance. Collingwood must be of the belief that the terms of the “additional contract” for the balance must include reference to the “new contract” with the “new club”, and if that agreement is to be terminated (by being novated again to a 3rd club) then the additional contract would also be terminated (or would maybe require their acceptance for a 3rd club to be included). Regardless, it appears that their strategising on this is being done by someone with a poorer understanding of contract law than even I have.
  18. Considering he went for pick 1 last year, what would GWS expect us to pay to get him? And why? They’re not going to replace him as a future KPF option this year and the only way they’d entertain it is if there were serious Jesse-Hogan-like red flag issues we’d have to ignore.
  19. Makes sense. In my brief appraisal of the tall forwards on club lists, these 2 stood out for Westcoast as desireable cheap options for us (discounting Oscar Allen as a possibility). Bailey particularly with his ability as a forward ruck.
  20. I think this is what is confusing most. To my understanding Collingwood aren’t trying to get out of paying Grundy their component and making us pay it. Instead they are campaigning to have the component of Grundy’s salary they are paying to be removed from their salary cap. No?
  21. Having a look over playing lists, there’s a few that seem to have excess tall forwards. Looking for a bargain... StK - Cooper Sharman? Coll - Ash Johnson? GCS - Burgess? Chol the obvious option. McLaughlin? Adel - Fogarty? Gollant? WBD - O’Brien? Port - Lord? Scully? Haw - Ramadan? Freo - Corbett? Treacy? Kuek?
  22. Curtin wasn’t overly impressive from what I saw of him in this game, but that’s not to say he didn’t display tools that could lead to him being a very capable AFL player in time. He’s not there yet though.
