  1. Couldn’t care less who he supported growing up. He’s a passenger & we need to move him on.
  2. I’d say it’s a hard no on Dylan Stephens. Shades of Toumpas. Good luck to him. From inside the roos I’m told he is very weird unit & they don’t think he’s anywhere near worth what it’d cost for him to return 1st round compensation. Surely Brad Scott would be aware of this too from his time there.
  3. Useless bloody Suns couldn’t hold onto their lead, but the umpires did help to drag the blues over the line. Pick 4 will still be ours as long as the Suns can knock off roos and the hawks can take care of Freo.
  4. Goldcoast now playing like they’re tanking. Hard to believe they could be this incompetent.
  5. Goldcoast & Richmond doing their bit for us so far. Hang on tight.
  6. Harmes. Get rid of him.
  7. I’m guessing it’d be Grundy for Ladhams & change.
  8. Love the look of O’Sullivan at a time when we really need to be mindful of succession-planning for May. I imagine it’ll involve Petty returning to the backline with Lever to guide a young tall. COS fits the bill for my liking.
  9. Surely they’re both. Abysmal overall, but managing the result when needed, so as to not let themselves be “punished” by the rare inept performance of an opponent who has mentally prepared for a bye week.
  10. That doesn’t sound like something Pert would do... However I’ll absolve him of all past sins once it lands.
  11. Of course there’s some tanking involved here. Imagine being this putrid, but then also letting Essendon’s ineptitude rob you of pick 1? There’s no other way to describe Simpson’s aggressive instructions to not have additional defenders to maintain their slim advantage with seconds left.
  12. Never seen him play live, only watched some short compilations, but just haven’t seen him do a lot overhead. Doesn’t mean he’s not good. Buddy was the tallest flanker ever.
  13. Not mutually exclusive though.
  14. Buckley went down the same path when WC lost to Essendon by a point, questioning why Adam Simpson was dictating that they specifically did not put a spare man in the backline to hold a late lead. I did wonder if Bucks holds some resentment towards the team who stopped him from winning a flag as coach.
  15. Eesus. Melksham as our main target? That’d be why we lost the match.
  16. Is he that good? Tall but plays like a flanker.
  17. Honestly, if we had 4 & 5, I think I’d rather keep them than trade them for 1.
  18. Someone would need deep pockets. I’d think the facility naming rights would be a lucrative component for us to exploit irrespective of where the funding comes from. Mind you - does Casey have such a deal? Or is it too heavily controlled by the council?
  19. I’d say your mail is good, but so good it is far from ready for announcement. When I asked my friend who would have some insight, his response was simply “Something in the media?” Then went on to reveal knowledge of discussions between the club and the trustees, that it would be a great result for the reserve (unaware of how good it would be for us!) but also that state govt currently has no budget to develop the land. It may be much too early for a reveal, as it sounds quite a bit of water needs to go under the bridge with securing significant funding for any sort of development. I’m not privy to the inner workings of these things, but it seems a bit chicken or the egg. A big commitment for us if no funding eventuates, but a development probably needs the profile of an AFL club to attract such funding. I’d say an AFL club that has just won another flag would be ideal, but maybe one that just had another strong finals showing is enough.
  20. Good mail redleg, I’ve had confirmed that we are “being considered as a tenant” but nothing official. This coming from an existing tenant. Long time coming. I may be singing the praises of Pert & Roffey once it lands.
  21. Barrass to stay - bodes well for our chances to secure pick 1. At the same time, it increases the premium on key defenders, as McKay prepares to exit North. This might bring compensation further into play and if we are to keep our earlier picks.
  22. Don’t worry mate, it’s not a hole. It just has limited obvious appeal to a dumb kid. But we’re talking about footballers here, so not many Rhodes scholars among them.
  23. I think you’d be missing the point. Goyder would enjoy having 1 extra vote up his sleeve to control the board, and what better puppet than a bloke that grossly overestimates his own smarts & charisma?
  24. As I said - I would agree now! Changing tastes. Just a lot quieter than I liked at that age, but then again I was a fan of the big cities that don’t sleep. How to derail a thread in 3 easy steps... I see Brad Scott has been caught waxing lyrical over Harley on 360.
  25. I think the narrow view you speak of may be more appropriate than your own, considering the demographic and company I kept would be very similar to what Harley would find himself in. And no, I didn’t venture to Freo, Cott or Scarborough then (on a Sunday at least) but I did 4 years ago & there wasn’t much change. Each to their own.
