2024 Free Agents
They had the pull of going back to their home state. The money was the icing on the cake especiallywith Jackson and potentiallyPetty. The pull was strong with those two. Weitering and Taylor don't in this case. Weitering is no way at all going to another Victorian club that is also contending for the flag when his own club is going through similar pathway. If you can name me the last big name player that went from one big contending team to another in Victoria then maybe, but it's an absolute rarity.

2024 Free Agents
Considering both Weitering and Taylor are right in the Premiership window there is no reason why they will leave their perspective clubs. Weitering would be their next captain and Taylor is not only settled but plays at a footy club that plays a fast and exciting brad that clearly stands up in September. GWS are just scratching the surface.

Issac Cumming
Very good footballer and exactly the right fit in terms of outside skill set. Have always rated him highly.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
Well hang on, this factually incorrect. Doesn't hurt to go back over time and see where other premiership teams and contenders have conceded huge amount of scores in games. Collingwood and Brisbane 2023 Geelong and Sydney 2022 Richmond 2017 Happy to add more if you'd like? These just small examples. What does this prove? Nothing.. Just because you're a contender doesn't mean you're vulnerable to conceding big scores. Sometimes it's a good thing to have games where you do concede big score because it gives you the opportunity to reassess your team defensive structure. Not even a bad thing if Carlton failed whatever test you're thinking of. Geelong are just a bloody good side with a strong offensive and forward structure. Simon Goodwin has been on record in stating this over the last few years.

Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?
Daniel Turner has filled that void just perfectly.

NON-MFC: Round 07
Can't help but admire bloody Geelong. After last year I thought they were going to start rebuild mode but not.. here we are again. Incredibly well drilled and disciplined as a team. They stick to their structure and back their system in and always number off around stoppages. Have enjoyed watching them this year.

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
Yes, whilst I get that, both Jordon and Brayshaw were bigger bodied mids around the 186cm and 188cm tall. We need depth in that area. There's a difference between wanting mids and wanting the type that we are lacking which is the mid to tall midfielder that the like of Harmes, Brayshaw, Jordon and Dunstan have left in terms of depth.

Harrison Petty
The start of the firsy quarter he was playing as a roaming CHF which I don't think is his strength. Few times earlier in that quarter he got onto a few long leads towards the wing and unfortunately we tried to honour him but butchered the kick instead. After that he looked gas for the rest of the game.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
I pretty much said this last week and got howled down for it. Body contact in ruck contests isn't his thing. He hasn't got the physical attributes that you want in a second ruckman that can chop out Gawn, especially if he has to go up against the like of Grundy, Briggs, Jackson, Draper, Goldstein who'll just monster him physically. This is why they have trust in JVR because at least he competes hard when he chops out. Similar to how Cam Pederson use to be when Gaqn went down back in 2017. He's a tall mobile 200cm forward flanker who can push up the ground and perhaps be use as a link up between the two halves using his athletic ability. Still think Verrall can still play a role some stage this year as a 2nd hand Similar to how we use Jackson.

Why did my text style get bigger??

AFL Mid-Season Draft 2024
Not sure if a 179cm midfielder in Murray is a need for us. I wouldn't be surprised if we go for a developing talk ruckman/forward. I like the prospect of Joe Pike from Geelong Falcons. 203cm ruckman who's a big lad that gets around the ground winning possessions and has got good follow up work. His ruck craft if also pretty impressive and certainly gives his mids first use. Jasper Scaife is a 19 year old 198cm tall forward from West Perth who's kicked 8 goals in 3 senior games so far this year including a bag of 4 against Perth Demons. Would be a good forward depth prospect especially with the uncertainty around Pettys future and Jefferson not coming on as we would have liked.

Hit on Clarry
Wait, what? What exactly is the comparison between an off the ball incident on a football field to the recent domestic violence matters, especially as these latest incidents have been from perpetrators who have breached numerous apprehended violence orders in place? I've missed something here...

Best team quarter of the season
He's loss is very underestimated among supporters. I'm a huge wrap for him and I think he was going to be our designated elite distributor off half similar to as you you have already said in Kiddy Coleman. His ability to pick out the right options up the field amongst the chaos is elite. If it was me, I wouldn't even have him go through the VFL when he's ready to go. Straight unto the AFL side for me.

No way is Petty getting dropped. Troy Chaplin was interviewed pre game and said that they are aware he's down in form but will back him to the full to find that find at AFL level. He went on to further explain that he has all the attributes of a key forward that they're looking for in terms of his work rate, defensive pressure and ability to hunt the ground ball. Similar was said about Turner as well.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
After the the past two ordinary performances, this is the kind of game I see us winning. We'll be the underdogs and I think that plays into our favour. Petty was pretty bad last night. His not moving 100% so we flip McDonald and Petty? McDonald to me seems like he's moving really well again and I think having the extra talls such as JVR and Turner will help. It's a big risk because McDonald's form down back has been super lately. Woey down back is a concern for me but I also understand they have no one else to bring in. I prefer him as a rotating midfielder similar to how we use to use Jordon and Harmes. Too many many times he got caught just ball watching and not going at the man, his intensity at times was lacking. Though, I did like his tackle on Dusty though.. Maybe Marty Hore comes in for him?

POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
Thought Rivers and Lever were far more deserving of the medal. Max had a good game but under immense pressure I thought these two were the ones that really kept us in the game after Richmond were coming hard with their forward entries. We know individual awards really is a midfield award and stats wise Max had a good game but in terms of influential on thr game I really thought Lever and Rivers were my two standards with May a close third.
