  1. Jon Ralph. Fremantle star Luke Jackson told his management only days ago he wanted to play in the club’s first premiership despite a new relationship that will see Victorian clubs asking about his services. Melbourne-based clubs have not given up hope of luring Jackson home despite five more seasons on a contract that will pay him over $4 million in that time. Given the trade period is seven months away anything could happen despite him being traded from Fremantle three years into his career. But Jackson is understood to have told his management across the weekend it was a lifestyle choice to come back home which he wanted to see out. He was aware of murmurs about his future at that stage. But he is chasing Fremantle’s first flag (he was part of the 2021 Demons premiership) and is largely happy at the Dockers after moving home three years into a career that started at Melbourne. His preferred position is to play first ruck or around the ball as a modern-day rover rather than spending his time predominantly as a key forward. He lives in Fremantle, has two properties in the west and enjoys the beach lifestyle that is part of being a Dockers player. Jackson told the club on Sunday he was content at Fremantle and he has a deal through to 2029 that the Dockers would not release him from. Jackson, 23, is in a relationship with former Australian Diamond and Fox commentator Kelsey Browne, who is working with the West Coast Fever in media and commentary. Fremantle would never consider a trade for a player with 10 more seasons to play at the Dockers, with five years remaining on his current deal. So while Jackson might have been open-minded about moving to Victoria he will see out his deal at Fremantle. The Dockers have the option of sweetening a contract that is incentive-laden and pays him extremely well but not in the top echelon of AFL players. Just as Essendon’s Zach Merrett was able to use rival interest to ensure his contract was one of footy’s most lucrative, Jackson could also cash in. The 23-year-old’s deal doesn’t give him the guaranteed money that many of the game’s stars have been able to secure. He is able to earn over $800,0000 a year if he hits incentives, but as the Herald Sun revealed last year there will be as many as 60 AFL millionaires by 2027.
  2. I'm calling it now.. This game never happened. It was just all a figure of our imagination. It's Monday night and and we've heard absolute diddle squat.
  3. In a poor year. The small forwards is a target we have attempted to address through the draft/trade period. I know for a fact we were red hot on Joe Berry last year for the Murray bushrangers which to me shows its still a need for us and then there was obvious talk that we were interested in Matt Owies. I suppose in a way it's probably a reason why we have signed Henderson as well. I like Chandler as a person, he's a solid citizen, but there is no way he would get a game for Brisbane, Sydney, GWS and the likes. Reeeally keen to see how Mentha goes this year.
  4. I've never rated him one bit to be honest. I'm pinging my hope on Henderson becoming a handy little player and maybe Spargo gets back to form so that we see less of Chandler.
  5. Jefferson has none of that. Embarrassingly kept getting out marked last week against North and has no second efforts or physical intent. You keep banging on about how well he trains or how good hes been, yet the MFC coaches beg to differ otherwise he would have simply played today or at worse named as a emergency. He was neither. That's damning for a 3rd year key forward taken as a first rounder few years back. What does it say on him when the coaches prefer a guy that's toiled away at VFL level and can come in today and already look like that he belongs at AFL level and yet he's only been at the club for 5 minutes.
  6. Yeah I'm all for Henderson for a round 1 sock selection. Certainly couldn't be any worse then what Chandler has dished up the last two weeks. Not that I think he will play anytime soon, but I am intrigued to know how Ricky Mentha went on the weekend.
  7. Troy Chaplin just said that JVR will be fine for round 1.
  8. Jefferson wont/shouldn't be in round 1 contention. Last week we ran with the 3 talls in Turner, JVR and Jefferson. There is no way looking past it, Jefferson is counted as a tall with his height and reach. With JVR back being an uncertainty and Turner going completely missing for two whole practice games other then junk time goals then AJ will simply get a round 1 gig.
  9. Okay that's enough from me..
  10. I saw more intent and physical application in AJ then I have in Matt Jefferson the whole time he has been at the club. Just an absolute brute of a forward. Once he gets some experience at senior level, him and JVR are going to be a good physical combo. Could have easily kicked 3 tonight. Round 1 debut awaits.
  11. It may not happen. See Wade Derksen last year. Freo have every right to hold him to his contract.
  12. Yep. Our skills are woeful.
  13. We've made zero adjustment with our ball movement. It's the same as 2024. Look at the way Freo transition off half back compared to us. Another year of slow boring football.
  14. 1.8 in nearly two quarters. Not only is that woeful but who the hell is our goalkicking coach??
  15. The effort and intent id certainly there. We should be three goals ahead but it is what it is. Liking Jed Adams and Howes down back.
  16. Due to the heat expected to reach 35, does that mean we'll be able scrap the subs so that both teams can maximise rotations?
  17. I'm not entirely sure what exactly are you talking about? If you're asking if todays game is televised then yes, it is.
  18. Aaaanyhow.. My number one wish to come out of today's practice match is simply no injuries. Still gutted for AMW after it literally happened with minutes to go at the end of the game. I've been watching all the practice games over the last few days and it's been absolutely carnage with all the injuries. Fingers crossed.
