The rookie draft was the perfect opportunity to grab a mature age ruckman which i was crossing my fingers for. I was pretty disappointed that we went down the pathway of grabbing another skinny project ruckman who had only played 12 months of footy. This is nothing against young Filipovic who i think is a fine young man, but he is 5 years away from at least making any sort of contribution at AFL level. Right now he is playing development league football. Even young Oscar Mcinerney would have been an ideal selection (currently playing well in the NEAFL for Brissy) as that mature age ruckman. I few on here last year voiced this exact concern as some didn't see Spencer as an ideal back up.

Preuess and Tom Nicholls would be two ruckman that i would push hard for. Matthew Flynn is a big 201cm and 101kg ruckman who is dominating the NEAFL. We put a bid on him and they matched it. That pick then was used on Mitch King. Might be someone we will be still looking at come end of year.

Because he is a skinny 200cm 95kg beanpole who has had 12 months off and rucked against a country footballer standard ruckman on Saturday night. He would then come up against Matthew Luenburger who is no slouch at all. He would blow up at half time and struggle to barely raise a gallop. This is why our main priority has to be Steven May because McDonald isn't a number 1 defender at all. He is better suited to that floating 2nd or 3rd defender. A big solid defender like a Tarrant or May would make McDonald a bettet player.

Dont know what to say.. We had good luck with injuries last year and now its our turn to cop our wack.
