CASEY: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
Yep. Have been advocating for this for a while now. His forward craft is very similar to Jack Gunston. We are screaming for natural forwards, give it a shot i says.. Nothing to lose.

CASEY: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
I've been a staunch supporter of Howes but after the North game the idea to bring him back him after he was dropped due to poor form was absolutely mind boggling. Having watched the full replay this morning, I can't say I agree with you that he was okay. For a guy that isn't a lock down defender, he had 9 disposals, 1 mark and 3 turnovers for the game. I'm not exactly sure what he adds down back. He looks completely bereft of confidence and I feel like with each game his confidence gets zapped out of him. Adams would have at least taken a Walters or Read and maybe that releases Petty or McDonald a bit more. I don't know, but right now Howes isn't working down back.

Missed the boat yesterday by playing a completely out of form Blake Howes instead of Jed Adams. Would have been perfect replacement for Lever.

New coach prospects
Rare unfortunately. If you had heard the Brad Green interview prior to the game then you'd know he's very cushy with Goody as a coach. Spruiked the same rubbish around 'love' and 'culture'.. Something feels very toxic inside the club me thinks..

Time to go Goody?
Whilst Green is in the seat, Goody is safe unfortunately. Green is just as part of the problem as Goodwin is.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Geelong are well known for taking unders and Hawthorn in their glory days as well took unders to keep all their stars. We on the other hand just give out these long term contracts on ridiculous money like its hot cakes.

Up there with one of the biggest list blunders we've made. It really didn't need to happen.

Goody on Unfiltered
There was certainly contradiction from Goodwin last night and another good lesson why you take everything he says now with a grain of salt. We heard him and Pert say in a SEN interview in October 2023 that we have the best culture in 40 years, but yet last night he admitted that we were dealing with internal player issues around that time. In a press conference last year after the GWS defeat towards the back end of the year there was a question posed to Goodwin regarding Oliver trade speculation. He openly said this: "He's a Melbourne person through and through. He's not going anywhere. "He's a proud Melbourne person, we love him, we love the work that he's done. "We'll get his footy right, and he's going to be here for a long, long time playing some great footy." Then last night he admitted there was discussions around Oliver in whether he would be best suited elsewhere and other options be assessed but unfortunately that got out to the press before it actually got to Oliver first. I'm not sure it was going to eventuate but clearly the club had circled his name around trade discussions.

That is true.- Media Madness
I feel like the Paul Roos and Neale Daniher days were probably the most stable we had been from an off field perspective, certainly in my time supporting the dees. There were a lot of board issues during the Daniher years but the Rev did an incredible job in keeping the players united and not caught up in all the jargon. The only behaviour issue I can think of was David Neitz getting a bouncer in a headlock at Crown Casino? Roosy was highly respected within media circles and obviously his reputation probably played a big part in that. Fair to say he also kept the players in line with his standards around culture and behaviours.- Goody on Unfiltered
Watched it last night. Most of you have covered it off fairly well. One thing that stood out to me and a good lesson to be learnt for the usual suspects on here that continue to sprout how good our environment and culture is on and off field. Matter of fact is, it hasn't been.. Goody actually confessed that there were a lot of internal issues going on inside the club with players and staff from about late 2022 to 2023, which then spilled into last year. Its why as he said, "Petracca didn't feel loved" His last answer to the question was awkward only because i do take into account it was filmed weeks prior to round one. Hamish asked, "what do we expect from Melbourne of 2025?" And Goody said something along the lines of 'Players being happy out on the MCG, smiling and loving what they're doing'. There was no reference whatsoever to change in game plan or adjusting our ball movement etc etc. My immediate thought was obviously seeing the complete opposite last Sunday with players looking completely bereft of confidence and dejected. I'm actually annoyed with the timing of this being shown last night instead of a few weeks backs. You seriously couldn't pick a worse time.- Trade Targets
