Green - captaincy weighing heavily Jones - good first half Bartram - always under pressure Watts - showed some class Gysberts - couldn't handle flight Bennell - was poor again Frawley - performance to forget Trengove - never stopped trying Morton - played without passion Sylvia - couldn't handle checking Dunn - had no influence Grimes - a poor game Garland - our best player Moloney - couldn't get going Jurrah - was raely noticed Rivers - probably on field Wonaeamirri - provided almost nothing Martin - taught a lesson Tapscott - tough but loose Davey - gave no drive Jamar - was well beaten Bail - very rarely noticed

Green - pleasingly found ball Jones - difficult to assess Bartram - was always determined Watts - again showed nothing Gysberts - surprisingly fumbled often Bennell - clever but limited Frawley - some occasional glitches Trengove - terrific all day Morton - effective when required Sylvia - fantastic second half Dunn - couldn't find ball Grimes - not as prolific Garland - was he playing ? Moloney - continued stellar season Jurrah - exciting when required Rivers - was rarely noticed Wonaeamirri - slowly finding feet Martin - has been better Tapscott - backs himself well Davey - some forward success Jamar - dominated as required Bail - never stopped running
-
Green - had limited influence Jones - an important contributer Bartram - solid all day Watts - nothing to commend Gysberts - fluency and energy Bennell - had limited involvement Frawley - sound and safe Trengove - was surprisingly hesitant Morton - had little affect Sylvia - quieter than expected Dunn - only in cameos Grimes - not as prolific Garland - reliable all day Moloney - prolific and effective Jurrah - one brilliant quarter Rivers - defender of old Wonaeamirri - will be better Martin - a solid contribution Tapscott - skilled but loose Davey - was easily tagged Jamar - superb all day Bail - excellent tagging role
-
Green - needs one position Jones - tries but limited Bartram - tries but limited Watts - maturity desperately needed Bennell - hardly gave whimper Frawley - will obviously improve Trengove - gave a damn Sylvia - classy but overdone Dunn - continues to underperform Petterd - given a lesson Grimes - possessions meant turnovers Garland - gave it all Moloney - one trick pony Jurrah - too easily outmuscled Rivers - endeavour was pleasing Martin - continues to excell Tapscott - should be nominated Davey - gave early drive Jetta - showed limited ability Jamar - was great early Bail - stood out throughout

Green - just a game Jones - looked painfully slow Bartram - tough but mistakeridden Watts - needed more involvement Bennell - one thrilling passage Trengove - excellent decision making Sylvia - thrilling in bursts Dunn - just a game Petterd - super sub epitomized Grimes- prolific but wasteful Maric - little to commend Garland - important second half Moloney - outstanding second half Jurrah - thrilling but lacking Rivers - often looked lost MacDonald - not his best Martin - career best performance Tapscott - a wonderful debut Davey - we needed more Jetta - some important touches Jamar - terrific all day Bail - was rarely noticed

Green - lead by example Warnock - stand up now Jones - provide the grunt Bartram - dispose more efficiently Watts - reputation becomes reality Gysberts - continued steady progression Bate - must make statement Bennell - versatility and consistency Frawley - rock of defence Trengove - continue to impress Morton - reappear and amaze Sylvia - become expected superstar McKenzie - bravery and dependability Dunn - continue the reinvention Petterd - deserves some rewards Grimes - path to greatness Maric - continue sublime pre-season Garland - maintain the reliabilty Cook - build a body Moloney - lead by example Jurrah - consistency and excitement Rivers - fitness equating performance Macdonald - aggression , reducing clangers Scully - see Watts' comments Wonaeamirri - excitement and fitness Martin - performance mirroring effort Tapscott - strength and flair Davey - skills and flair Gawn - taking the step Howe - making early impression Jetta - attitude reflecting improvement Jamar - demanding the attention Davis - too little known Spencer - finding his place McDonald - too little known Bail - continuing the revelation Blease - deserves some luck Strauss - kicking to succeed Fitzpatrick - putting on weight Campbell - finally making impact McNamara - getting a chance Lawrence - too little known Nicholson - too little known Evans - too little known Johnston - too little known

and why would Scully be any more mortal than Ablett ? $6m is $6m , and for a 19 year old it would be more attractive than a game of football on the MCG .

Yes Warnock was present but has fined down and was subsequently unrecognizable

There was nobody that particularly stood out, IMO, but training generally was of the hard running, continuous motion type of movement that we should come to expect this year. Rather than just speak of the flowing ball movement that Scully, Trengove, Tapscott and the like performed with such aplomb, I will concentrate on the more aesthetic aspects (strictly from a heteoresexual point of view) My votes for most impressive physique: 3 - Moloney (as expected) 2 - Sylvia (as expected) 1 - Tapscott (awesome potential in this category) My votes for most impressive tan: 3 - Garland (a real surprise having come from such a long way back) 2 - Moloney (obviously not averse to running with bare torso) 1 - Jamar (makes him appear even more frightening) My votes for most improved physique: 3 - Watts (obviously had a lot of work to do and will appease his detractors) 2 - Bartram (showed signs last year, and has become quite imposing) 1 - Spencer (will not need to take a backward step now - his body has arrived) My votes for best trainer: 3 - Scully (doesn't look like a machine - he actually is one) 2 - Sylvia / Moloney (tied for second - neither leaves anything left undone or unsaid) My votes for the ' coolest ' movers: 3 - Jurrah (smooth as baby's tush) 2 - Davey (nothing new here) 1 - Watts (may be a surprise but he flows through almost nonchalantly and the job gets done) My votes for captain, based on presence on field at training: 3 - Moloney (is almost demanding the leadership with his vocal and physical presence) 2 - Sylvia (unlikely to get the nod , but his attitude and approach are impeccable) 1 - Rivers (always the leader down back and often directs the moves) Having given these votes though, Green WILL get the job.

Hot,windy, and overcast as I'm reporting live via IPod. Obviously no Frawley, Dunn walking laps, Watts running laps, Campbell looking extremely unfit but enthusiastically running a handball drill with some newbies. Wona , Tapscott , Petterd training with main group, whilst interestingly Spencer and Blease were paired up for centre bounce work.

an attacking on baller , without the defensive mindset that categorized Bailey's unsuccessful use of him 2 years ago. He is confident , clever , a great kick ,experienced , and possesses the ' bigger engine ' now that will let him play a Barlow - like onballing role , that appears to be how his training is being geared ,from my observations .

Regular readers of Demonland may recall my glowing pre season training review 2 seasons ago of Sylvia ,and the certainty I had that the forthcoming season would be his 'coming out' year , well this year , and based on my attendance of 4 pre season training sessions, my 'certainty' for the forthcoming season is ( drum roll )................ Dunn . He is training with purpose , confidence , maturity , and poise , with the knowledge , based on an impressive second half season last year , that he is more than ready to mix it with the best on-ballers in the league . Whilst not decrying the pre season training performances of my standout players ( in no particular order ) Sylvia ,Maric , Bail , Frawley ,and Bennell , Dunn has excited me because of his presence - physically intimidating , and his maturity - willingness to lay the extra tackle and shepherd when necessary . Dunn will be a force this season - I have spoken !

We want tough , uncompromising ,and dedicated backmen who encompass the teachings of their mentor - Glen Archer #1. -
Possibly the most inspirational 1 hour ever produced on a tv programme . The world is a much better place with Jimma in it .

Obviously too much random time on your hands Redleg. Go for a brisk walk or jog instead - you'll feel better in the morning .

I personally think our last memory of Jones will be from the last game against North when he was seen languishing behind a rampant and aged Harvey along the Southern Stand wing , and soon after being crunched into oblivion . I think these images reflect how he was undone - his lack of speed ,and undoubted courage.

Interesting to hear Hird's negative comments about Bruce during Sunday's game , in the light of Chook's comments . I thought the comments had a particularly ,and untypically ( for Hird ) personal agenda attached to their criticism.
