*BUMPETY-BUMP* We have a winner at last! Not altogether surprisingly, it's Mazer Rackham who has taken home the goldware, and I have suitably congratulated him by return PM. The silverware and bronzeware is still available. Although I'm still hearing crickets, I ain't gonna give up on getting rid of it. So, to help, have a look at my first sentence for a 'clue' (or, on another view, not?!😉) My next clue after that will be a current Power player who you might have thought would be one of the first picked (you'd be able to guess who, @Mazer Rackham?)

My uneducated two penn'orth: For a team already demonstrably very good, how likely is it that one player - actually, less than one, being only the difference between that player and the pick 13 player - will make the difference between a premiership or not, or even in final ladder position? Whereas a generational 2023-draft group would forge their careers together - 'the whole is greater than the parts' - as our current one is (and it'd overlap nicely with that current group, too 🙂) And there's such expectation on unicorns, whereas a group of mere thoroughbreds will share that load. Unlike me to stick my head up on an actual footy discussion...

Continuing somewhat off topic (and answers will no doubt be dotted elsewhere around 'Land): As a 50s child, blessed with a 50-year-MCC-member grandfather, I am in awe of those who managed to choose, and rust themselves onto, the Dees of that sorry score of (scoreless?) years from the mid 60s to the mid 80s. And I'm curious as to why they did! Got a story, TFA? Anyone else? (p.s. I presume yours is a confident post-25/9/21 username, not a wistful pre-? 🙂)
