  1. That's going a step too far. The club imposed an in club suspension, no doubt accompanied by some serious talking to by the Coach, Mahoney and the team leaders. I have no reason to second guess that. I see this incident as most on here do, - as a serious and very puzzling breach of discipline and club rules. I do wonder whether Kent, Kennedy and Spencer may already have decided they won't be at the club next year so not much to lose. Although you would imagine that there are monetary penalties of some sort associated with an internal suspension.
  2. Do me a favour Mr Steve, go back and read my post, I didn't say this - "I think you missed my point if they'd have kicked straight it would have been 100 points". How did you manage to attribute it to me?
  3. If that's what you meant, then I did. It's this line that threw me "but you think it was an even playing field?"
  4. Did i say an even playing field? Did you not read this? "These games happen, and all the reasons why this happened to us have been pretty fully explored in previous posts." So what are you on about?
  5. I notice no 'Likes' for your reply backing up your earlier statement Steve. What you have said is a fact. Apart from the score line it was like a game which we could/would/should have lost by a much larger amount, (arbitrarily - up to the 15 goals which you said). We were really outplayed, with perhaps 10 minutes out of the 100, when we were on top in general play. Because of their inaccuracy, I think most of us held hopes until early in the last quarter that we might fight back and make it a closer game at least. But if they had kicked more accurately from the start, all hope would have evaporated by mid 2nd quarter. These games happen, and all the reasons why this happened to us have been pretty fully explored in previous posts. Most certainly it was not for lack of effort. (Allowing for the the impact of the successive 6 day breaks). On another matter, one post stated that last night showed Pedersen, amongst several others, wasn't up to it. I think most serious football watchers know that when a team is overwhelmed, many fringe, (and other), players will look poor. Hunt and Oliver were amongst those yesterday. No one would suggest they are not AFL standard. How then does Peder's get dissed like this having proven himself for about 10 weeks, - after one poor game in a team that was statistically thrashed?
  6. There is of course the (admittedly really remote), possibility that the FD might know what they are doing and have chosen the replacements they think will do the best job against the Swans. Just sayin'
  7. Maybe a bit earlier: Round 14 plus 5 = 19, hopefully returns for round 20.
  8. MT64, you're mixing two games up, - if I recollect correctly. The game where Garland was moved forward was in 2012. It was against the Bombers alright and we won. In fact I think it was the first win of Neeld's tenure. Garland only kicked two goals, but he was a match winner in a very low scoring game. This though was well past the so-called tanking years. The tanking accusations involved a game in 2009 against Carlton. Bails moved Jamar forward and for this move, the club was accused of tanking. Never mind the fact that he kicked 5 goals. We were really crucified with that tanking rubbish when Demetriou went on leave and whats-his- name? took the opportunity to initiate an investigation against us, but ignored what other clubs had done.
  9. Whilst not disagreeing with you fundamentally, there are a couple of other trips which we make: Perth 2721 Kms - Alice 2260 Kms - Darwin 3148 Kms I'm more concerned about the after effects of the Darwin trip. (Not the distance of course but the conditions).
  10. Do you mean Percentage? Guess what, our Percentage is 6th highest!
  11. Well done BRFE, it's great that you have taken the trouble to check this out. I was at the game and listened on the radio as well, and there was no mention of this tag. Then in the post game thread, out of the blue, a post claimed that Melksham, had tagged Pendles. That post without elaboration or substantiation changed the conversation about Melksham. I really want Melksham to succeed as a great get by us, but I want that to be based on facts not fiction. If you are correct, he had the poor day that most of us thought we observed. I don't think I can be bothered, but it is almost worth looking through the Post game thread and asking the poster who made that statement where that idea came from.
  12. I don't remember the details, but I seem to remember that the plus side for Collingwood in giving us the home game on Queens birthday was something like this: 1. Collingwood avoided having to play a home game at Etihad, (As every other MCG team had to) 2. They kept more 'blockbusters' against the BIG clubs, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn. Nevertheless, whilst it is not 'Charity' it is still a good thing for the MFC and I have no idea why people want to find a reason to slag Eddie for this.
  13. Surely, they saw something to draft him and having played only 5 quarters of AFL football, it would be amazing if the FD thinking is, he has no future at this stage. On top of that, as you mentioned he is a rookie. As for his age he's a lot younger than Podzy was when recruited by Geelong. At this stage he gets my vote. Wayne, surely you don't imagine King is anywhere near taking the Senior ruck position in 2018 if Gawn was injured again! If Spencer goes the club will definitely recruit a mature and mature bodied ruckman. Maybe if the FD thinks we are a real chance in 2018, they will do that even if Spencer stays.
  14. Why is this too soon? Are any of the thoughts which are posted here going to impact on the team, the future of any players, our chances of playing finals? What this thread is really about is a current assessment of a part of the list. The bottom part. If we were just ranking players instead of talking about delisting how would that be different? As Nasher said, its interesting to compare thoughts at this stage, with thoughts as we move further into the season. Finally the FD makes the decisions irrespective of what is said here.
  15. You sure about this? Does the name Brock Maclean ring any bells? Prendergast was gone from early 2012. Jason Taylor was appointed about July that year, but was held to his contract until the end of the year by Eddie at Collingwood. The 'Tanking Enquiry' was commenced later in the year after Macleans appearance on a footy show on which Roosy was a panellist.
  16. Whilst what he says isn't wrong, it is a strange comment for a guy who played with GWS for two seasons when they won a total of three games and for Collingwood when they won 11, 10 and 9 games in the last three years. It applies as much to himself as Dunn. What's more it is hardly the case that Dunn is playing for a successful club this year, (so far).
  17. JKH reported to have had 47 disposals on Casey Twitter
  18. You might have had a point, but you must not have noticed how well we've played at th G this year?
  19. That site is showing the Apparent Temp as being only about 20.5, due to quite a low level of humidity and a strong breeze, - gusting up to 32 Kms. Temp is not going to be a problem based on that and a lack of talls might be an advantage.
  20. Thanks for the correction. I went by the countdown clock on the MFC website yesterday and at about 4:00 pm it was showing 24 hrs and 5 mins to game time. I assumed it was Eastern Standard Time.
  21. I'm sure you already know Chook, but just in case you don't, the game starts at 4:05.
  22. I can name some for St.Kilda, but only because I have a friend who barracks for the Saints and from what I hear commentators say. These are those players - Luke Dunstan, Jack Billings, Jack Newnes , Sebastian Ross, Acres, Gresham, Steele and they still have high hopes for McCartin and Goddard. I don't watch those clubs enough to have formed opinions about many players but more about the team performances. Certainly on Sunday, I saw the young Kangaroos prove that they had enough talent. There is a contradictory stat that you have brought up. That is that you think top 10 draft picks are vital, but then point out that the Bulldogs had only 4 in their Premiership team. At the same time, of the six Melbourne players you mentioned Viney was pick 26 and Hunt much further down. ProDee, I am of course, not insisting that you are wrong, only that it's easy for a supporter to see the best in our players and simply not know enough about players in other teams. I really hope you are right.
  23. That our list is superior to those two clubs is probably more One eyed optimism than objective reality. North delisted 4 veterans and lost another to Collingwood. They have a lot of young players like us and have performed about the same as us, with several narrow losses. The Saints have plenty of talented youth and two first round picks in the next draft. It does no harm to the club's performance for supporters to over rate our prospects, we are just kidding ourselves.
  24. Petraccattack, - you need to count again, it's six days! leehow, - whilst I don't necessarily advocate change, there is the logic that a VFL game has a far lower intensity than an AFL game.
