  1. Latest score Will 9.11.65 Casey10.9.69
  2. It appears that Casey Radio 97.3 fm and also online are calling the game from 1:00 pm.
  3. Being Monday and a Public holiday, I'm not sure what would be open after the game. The club has a restaurant, but I am not sure about after game meals. The Rifle Club hotel is right next to Nth Willy station two stops up from the ground, you can definitely get food, - can't vouch for the quality. The best viewing is from the Grandstand, shouldn't have trouble finding a seat.
  4. BBO, I've been baffled by Pedder's omission from teams since 2015. This year apart from injury, I can only guess it's also because Goody is aiming to challenge for a premiership in 2019 / 20/ 21 and he is focusing on the players who he hopes will be a part of that push. I always had a higher opinion of him in games than clearly the selectors have had.
  5. It has to be a massive hit to what would have been budgeted for if we don't get a BOJ sponsor. No way the club planned not to have one. I'm not really sure, but I had the impression BOJ sponsorship was worth $500K.
  6. Don't disagree that the way Watts plays he is probably not suited to being a key forward, but completely disagree it is because of lack of height and spring. He is 196 cms, - taller than both Weideman and Hogan. In fact he is the second tallest player in the team this week and equal second tallest last week. He has shown on a number of occasions his high marking abilities, and he certainly displayed a pretty good spring when rucking at the centre bounces last week.
  7. But what does "go all out" mean, in respect to increasing membership? I know the club and volunteers already do contact former members to encourage them to re-sign. What more can be done? The only other factors that come to mind are club success and an increase through family and generational growth. If we can get to 42,000 this year, that will be a pretty good result. We can hope for more, but it's hard to see where they will come from.
  8. Wow there pardners, I'm simply pointing out that we don't have a goto ruckman if Spencil goes down. I'm not critical of the club and it remains to be seen if it becomes a problem, (though I am worried about Spencil's durability). As for other clubs, either by design or good fortune few fall away so far after their second ruck. Just to be on firmer ground I quickly looked up Richmond, St. Kilda, Essendon, Geelong and Nth lists - you can check for yourself, they all run 3 deep. In Nth's case just by good luck, from the reports on the first three rounds Preuss is now virtually 1st ruck. It's just bad luck for us.
  9. Incredibly, our next in line available ruckman has only recently returned to football and has not even played a VFL game yet. (If I remember correctly, even the injured Mitch has yet to play a VFL game).
  10. I have always been very hopefull that Jake would become a very competent player. He is aggressive, has good second and even third efforts and can even tackle effectively with one hand. His downsides are, can't read the ball, hardly ever have I seen him even win a tap, let alone get it to our advantage and his marking is not a strength. But his biggest weakness is a propensity to injury. Look at his history, it has been ravaged by injuries. We'll be lucky to get 4 weeks in a row out of him. But I'll keep fingers crossed.
  11. "39,255 How good is this? Less than 1,000 to 40k!!" Wiseblood has corrected his post, the figure was 38,255 and today at nearly 5pm it is still that number. (Just so we don't get over excited). DIG, 45K is a long stretch for a club that reputedly had one of the lowest supporter bases 10 years ago and of course not much good news since then to boost it. I won't hold my breath, (mainly 'cos I worry I will jinx us), but 42K, should be possible this year.
  12. Well not that long ago, - since the last round in 2016 against Geelong. So that makes it only the worst display since two (AFL), games ago. Nearly everything else you wrote I agree with. (Not sure about didn't run for three quarters).
  13. From the AGE - August 2016 St Kilda and Sandringham will officially join forces next season in a new alignment that will see the Saints extending their move back to Moorabbin with a second bayside headquarters at the Trevor Barker Oval. Abandoning plans for a stand-alone reserves team, St Kilda's strategic change of heart comes after months of sensitive negotiations that will see the Zebras VFL side wear the Saints colours in up to three home games at Moorabbin from 2018.
  14. Yeah, I wasn't attacking your conclusion, - because he really looks different.(Hope we don't jinx him). Just comparing that to our bleak previous history.
  15. The recruiting over the last 5 years has been marvelous, the only really big miss has been Toumpas, (and maybe Dawes but he wasn't a draft pick). But good starts to careers in the previous 4 years proved to be mirages with many of our players: Cale Morton: averaged 23 possessions in first 20 games Blease: 20, 17 and 28 possessions in games 2, 3 & 4 Strauss: 20, 21 & 17 possessions in games 3, 4 & 5 Gysberts: 21 & 27 possessions in games 1 & 2 Tapscott: 19 & 23 possessions in games 1 & 2 I'm pretty sure there were some Rising Star Nom's that went along with these performances as well.
  16. Agree with this, I thought he played his role, albeit there was less pressure for the defenders after quarter time. What's more if my memory is correct, Oscar played quite a few games in the 2nd half of 2016 where he performed really well, even overshadowing Tom on one or two occasions. So I can't understand why some are talking about him as though he's just there as a work experience boy. Sure he needs more development, but he was clearly preferred to Garland last year and I would have thought would have been this year as well.
  17. For sure he is bound to start slowing down, but are you predicting it will be this game. What's more who will even bet that it will be this season, or even this decade! When did Boomer slow down? he was a lot older.
  18. Isn't it amazing how one clear thinking poster can cut through all the angst and handwringing!
  19. i've generally listened between 7 and 8 each morning since Jan 30 to the breakfast show. I have no idea what some of the baggers here are talking about. I've enjoyed some humour, some serious conversation, some news breaking and some pretty good interviews - Clarko yesterday and today with Jordan Lewis (heard on Audio), are examples. Bob Murphy is really terrific, Mike Sheahan hasn't grabbed me yet and i'm also still waiting for Sam Maclure to hit his straps. Hamish, just goes, but with Watson not coming in until 7, he is there to start things off. In any case I don't feel the need to love everyone and everything to enjoy a program. I find it hard to believe that the breakfast show hasn't attracted more listeners. We'll see with future ratings results.
  20. Are you guys being fair to Lyon? I presume you are both aware of his mental health battles in 2016, - some memory, (or knowledge) lapses in that context don't seem deal breakers to me. In the context of the questions he was asking when referring to those games, (knowing what to expect from the team, win or lose and Hogan's mindset), they make no difference at all. By the way, in the SEN interview he said " nearly beating West Coast", - so he corrected himself.
  21. I found this post in a quick search on Demonland, it suggests that he did get an additional two years rather than three. poita replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons ...Really disappointed that the club has not come out and justified theTerlichcontract either given that one year contracts are in vogue at present. Why wasDean given two years on the back of an underwhelming 2014 season? How many memberships are covering the cost of hiscontract? PS. I actually li... October 28, 2015
  22. Because it is the off season and in the interests of accuracy, this is what I recollect about Terlich and his contracts. Terlich was in the top 5 in the B&F in 2013 - his first year. In his second year he dropped off quite a bit in possessions and was dropped from the team about two thirds of the way through the season, - maybe after suffering a concussion. (His disposal and especially his decision making were of course always questionable, but his courage was not). He received a two year contract at the end of 2014. This greatly surprised me at the time, particularly when he was not picked for any AFL games in 2015. However I think the club knew that was probably going to be the case, but they wanted players to stiffen up Casey,- which lacked hardened bodies and had a very poor and demoralizing year in 2014. They certainly wouldn't have wanted to subject Crossy to a year of VFL football, as well as Terlich being a lot cheaper. So I reckon there was method in the madness of the muppets who gave him that contract.
