  1. The dees drafted size, and given Troy is touted as having blistering speed for his size we may very well be looking at another Frawley type backman. At pick #50 this presents excellent value to the dees if Troy can develop to a Frawley type player. This might spell the end of Matty Warnock though.
  2. I blurted a big "WTF" when this pick was announced. I am still scratching my head as to why we would burn a second rounder on a smokey. There must be more to this kid than people are letting on. 102cm vertical leap is amazing, but what else is there that spurred the footy department to take him at #33? Very interested to see what happens with Howe. At 20 years of age his body could be further along that some of the 18yo kids, and if he puts in a good preseason we might get to see what all the noise around Howe is about.

    Lucas Cook

I was actually surprised by this pick, but not disappointed. Cook fills a glaring need, and now we just have to wait until he is ready to contribute. I trust the football department, and I am guessing Cook's character and potential outweighed that of Jack Darling and other vying for the pleasure of becoming selected at pick #12. Exciting times ahead, and almost every article seem to support the dees selection of Cook.
  4. Condolences to you and your extended family.
  5. Nothing pisses me off more then when the "American" tag gets thrown around in sports. Does anyone remember the North Melbourne Giants in the NBL? The Giants have existed in Australian sports before, yet it gets canned because people want to jump on their high horse thinking they could come up with something better. Have a look at the AFL. "Power", "Dockers" these are not exactly great names, yet they seemed to go pretty well under the radar because they were not "American". There are no "Giants" in West Sydney, and there are no "Demons" in Melbourne so it is not a stupid as you might think to name your team after something that does not exist. Even if the "Wolves" had won, I am sure the same people would be calling out the name as "Americanized" because it has been used in professional sports before.
  6. Expectations for Blease are low enough for him to really turn heads. With Bruce gone, there is a spot that has opened up and some games could be had for Blease to show why he was drafted in the top 20.
  7. Pass on Neagle. Wouldn't draft Anthony, but would have no problem putting him on the rookie list if he was keen.
  8. Hahn will get a look at another club. He will be fine. Unlucky to be shown the door, but that is the way football is going.
  9. Robert Eddy might not be many things, but one thing you can't deny is his toughness. The guy played through multiple injuries and still managed to chalk up a few games for one of the best teams in the comp. I think he is still only 22/23 years old. Eddy is far from a star, but I have no issue giving him a rookie list spot. There are far worse players out there.
  10. Cam Bruce leaving the red and blue is straight up sad. This is one of the last nails in the coffin of the Daniher era. He will be missed, but there would have been some conversations with Club and player that we are not privy to, and with that said I will leave any judgement i might have for either side alone. I wish him the best, and hope he can carve out a few more years elsewhere. Time will tell if it was the right thing to do for Bruce. The club is down a leader, but now some playing time has been freed up for another kid. Our premiership window is not open yet, so it is really hard to say how this move will effect the group this season onwards. I think there are enough developing leaders down at the club to cover his absence. I do expect the dees will draft the best available player having now lost another midfield player in Bruce.
  11. Yze_Magic is moonlighting as Batman in his spare time. Saving lives in Gotham City is hard enough without having to log on here each day and post something ground breaking. Seriously though, I was MIA for about 6-8 months on here due to no internet access, and nobody seemed to notice. Many long term posters go into slumber then reappear, but never once is there a "Where is Wally" thread posted in their absence. Interesting thread topic america de cali.... that is all I have to say about the matter.
  12. It was only a few seasons ago where Anthony was touted as the pies next big forward. Has fallen out of favor with player and coach, and his form certainly had dropped off last season for whatever reason. Anthony certainly will be drafted. As for the dees, I would look at him as a rookie list candidate if he is available. He is still skillful enough, and young enough to carve out another 50-100 games at this level.
  13. To be in the coaching game this long you need to know a thing or two about coaching. Royal should bring some new thinking to a relatively young coaching compliment.
  14. Impossible to tell who will be drafted where as many of the draft decisions come down to how the young men interview in person. I tend to think the dees will go after the best available at pick #12, and having not sat in on any of the interviews I really have no idea who the dees think that will be. As for mock drafts, they are just on persons opinion. No such thing as a perfect mock draft, nobody can get it 100% right. So why bother fighting over what is pure speculation and fantasy? I still tend to think Darling is going to be selected at pick #12 despite his apparent character flaws.
  15. He has a few solid outings for the Tigers but he hardly set the VFL on fire. Would not be surprised if he gets a look during one of the drafts. Our ND selections will determine his value. If we get the big bodies we want, he might not be so valuable. If we don't, Thorp becomes an interesting rookie investment.
  16. If anything it is a sad reflection of the clubs performance over the last decade. Remember, that these Johnsons/stones/stons were comprised of a number #1 draft pick, a father son selection and a trade to WC for a player selected in the first round. So much promised fallen by the wayside. It is easy to shrug it off now that we have rebuilt the list, but the reality is we may be posting a similar thread about the "Jacks" if we can not manufacture a flag in the next 6-8 years. I certainly hope this is not the case.
  17. Always encourage new threads/suggestions, but I do have to pass on Hansen. Hansen has always had the tag of "prospect" over at the eagles, I would now down grade him to "just another player" which we do not need at the MFC. If the eagles have cap pressure, it does raise some serious question marks over their football department.
  18. Leave it vacant for a year. Next big up and coming player can have it. #7 and #23 are available and would be filled first I would think.
  19. PJ might get a look with the new ruck changes. Tommy might get a look in at a few spots. The upcoming drafts will be the best chance in years for players to find spots. Everyone is in a stage of rebuilding in some way or another, and with the GC team scooping up much of the talent it would seem that clubs will look at some tried players rather than draft unknowns. Both players could find themselves on a rookie list somewhere as insurance for other picks that do not pan out.
  20. There will be a stack of kids picked in both drafts, and he is a dead certainty to get drafted. I would not mind taking him in the rookie draft if he is around. I guess we will have to see what happens in the ND. Pick #32 might be a tad early.
  21. Lynch would be superb at 12, but I am warming up to Darling who will be available at #12.
  22. Anyone remember Scott Simister? Was built like a brick shithouse and could kick a goal. Didn't seem to click at AFL level. Went on to play 3 seasons in the SANFL to top the goal kicking for his club 3 years running. He was a massive unit. Thought he was going to be the FF for the future, no idea what happened. He was a monster in the reserves, only played 3 senior games and then went to plan in the SANFL. Unusual career. The biggest disappointment for me would have to be Martin Pyke. Was shocking for us, and went on to carve out quite a career for himself at North and the Lions.

    NFL

Hey Guys, I am a monster NFL fan. As for the Eagles, I think losing Desean Jackson for a few weeks might upset the apple cart (big hit by Dunta Robinson for the Falcons- ex texan so I don't like him naturally). Any Reid is unsure of who should be the starter, forget Vick as Kolb has torched the last 2 games. I think they will stick with Kolb, he is the future and could hold the starting spot barring any further setbacks. Eagles are 4-2 and are in a tough division. Lucky for you guys the cowboys are 1-4 and were a "sure thing" going into the season. Cowboys are now a "sure thing" to miss playoffs. Big Texans fan myself (self proclaimed biggest in the country, and when i met some of the texans fans over there this year they agreed) and we are looking pretty solid going into our bye week. (also 4-2) It has been a great season thus far, with some big names (Vikings, Cowboys,Chargers) misfiring and some lesser rated teams (Texans, Bears, Cardinals, Falcons) firing. Great to see Randy Moss traded back to the Vikes! Dust off those old #84 jerseys!!
  24. The only professional athlete i know by the name if "Chris Johnson" plays for the Tennessee Titans. Would be very surprised to hear there was an AFL player by the same name, as I did not see him play in the big leagues over the past year or so... Seriously though, serves him right. If ever he would be given a chance to prove himself as a player it was going to be at his dads club. Instead he gambled with his career, and it has ended as a nothing player at Carlton.
  25. He needs to take weight gain lessons from Kenny "F#$king" Powers!
