  1. Hale's value has hit an all time high due to the interchange rules being changed. He is not worth what hutchy said (especially considering whoever trades for him must eat 400k pa in their salary cap for the next 2 season). Sad thing is, he will actually sell for more than he is worth due to ruck shortages.
  2. Not surprised he got a gig. Shame it wasn't with us.
  3. Doggies are biting on Sherman hook line and sinker. I think he is a decent sort, but we essentially could have equal if not better players in Blease/Gys/Tapscott who have yet to really have a crack at our best 22. He wants to be a doggie, so unless he publicly comes out and says he wants to be a demon then we should move on to other targets.
  4. Not long retired, and was well regarded at the saints as having a good football brain. We could do a lot worse.
  5. The 2008/09 demons were dreadful. Did they tank? If anything, they tanked ONE game during this time against the tigers. And even then, they were not guaranteed to win that match. The truth is those football teams were inept, and incapable of beating most teams on any given day. The 2008 demons were the worst football team I have seen in my days of following the AFL. They were not even competitive for most of the games. If we do win the flag, the tanking argument will come out. But if we win a flag, I couldn't care less what we get accuses of, because we will be premiers! Oh, Collingwood did tank- Congrats to them, because it led them to a premiership!
  6. I think his lack of pace is his only glaring weakness. The problem is that speed is hard to get. Some people just can't get quick no matter how hard they work at it. I like Fetta, but it is very clear that next season will be his last if he cannot crack that lineup and stay there for more than 2 weeks.
  7. If Bruce did not want to be at the club he would have formally left already. Word on the vine is that he is unhappy with the amount the Dees offered, not the length of contract. He may very well be talking to a few clubs, but I would think his preference would be to stay at the MFC. Many clubs would not be looking to sign a player who has hit 30, as it goes against any clubs rebuilding process, which half the teams in the league are in the process of or have started doing. GC17 may have an offer on the table for more money, but to pack up your life and move from Melbourne to the GC for 2-3 years is a truckload of work just for 50k-100k per season. Not to mention learning a new system to be coached in, gaining the trust of new teammates as well as acclimatise to a city. Given how many contracts have been inked at this club in the past 12 months I get the impression that players have been offered fair and reasonable compensation for their playing services. The club obviously isn't blackballing anyone. The fact that Bruce has not signed may come down to him wanting more than he is worth. He has been paid well over his career, I would have thought he would want to retire here even if it means giving up a little less in potential earnings. I still think he will stay, and I do hope he stays. We will wait and see as the draft approaches.
  8. Can't see Choco becoming second fiddle to anyone, let alone Bailey who I believe used to be Choco's second fiddle....
  9. AFL has to be the most mismanaged sport in the world. Rule changes every year! I don't see the harm in keeping it the way it is. This rule change will hurt Spencer's career prospects. I don't see a future for him. Unless you are a dominant forward, there is now no room for a 2nd specialist ruckman. Does this now mean David Hale becomes top proroty, or do we allow Dunn or another part timer take over from the Russian?
  10. Amazing when you think Bartram and Jones are only 22yo. Feels like they have been around for ages. Some good signs with these 5 signings. Clearly Grimes knows he will live his childhood dream and Captain the MFC. Blease must have shown something post injury to get a 2 year deal. The club has invested much time into his recovery, i dare say he needs to repay that faith and push for a spot early on next season. Big preseason needed from Blease. Beamer was never going anywhere!
  11. I bet most of us would give our right nut to play AFL for a living. I just cannot get over the fact that these guys can make such huge judgement errors. As an AFL star you have a target on your back, why let yourself get into such a situation. If someone can profit from it and drag our name through the mud, god knows they are going to do it to you. Yet a sexual/assault scandal comes up every half calender year. Guilty or not, s&it tends to stick.
  12. Pah, I could look cooler in a pair of Village Cinemas 3D glasses!
  13. Can you hear that? It is the sound of the Demons rising! Collingwood are now the team to beat, hands down. The Aints and the Pussys are finished. Collingwood stand atop the mountain waiting for a challenger. A rising Demons outfit might not scare them now, but times are a changing, and we are on the rise!
  14. Nope! He has 1-2 good years left. We are 1-2 years away from being a top team. Pass.
  15. Collingwood are primed to win a few more this decade. We must also become one of the powerhouse teams of this decade and also finish of the 2010's with a couple of flags.
  16. Wow, I did not see this coming. Good Luck to Millsy. I bet Pia would look great in yellow and black.....
  17. I am wondering what peoples thoughts are on the value of Matty Warnock Vs Chris Tarrant? Tarrant has asked to leave, so naturally offers come to those who are forcefully on the move. But I would have thought that Matty Warnock would be worth a tad more to a side like Hawthorn/Carlton and so on due to his age and ability tp play as a featured back man. Tarrant is solid, but ultimately he will cost a it more and has less years left in his legs. As for Grigg, he will find a place and Carlton will get decent compensation. He could be partnered with a Walker or a Jacobs to help land them a first round draft selection.
  18. GC are being handed the keys to a very promising team in the next few years. Whoever comes to us at pick #12 must be a player that is going to help us win going forward. We do not have the luxury of stuffing that pick up. Lynch/Darling could be pick #12 it seems.
  19. I heard his Moe can do Karate.
  20. Would be nice if we could get him, but he won't be on the board when our second pick roles around. IF we trade some players, we might get an earlier pick to use one him. At the moment, he is bound for somewhere that is not Demonland.
  21. Something is not right down at Carlton. That is the 5th player to ask to be traded. I understand why younger guys want to jump ship from Brisbane (5-6 requested to leave) being that they are in for some dark years, but the Blues made the finals and are still a top 8 team. Something is really wrong down there, and I think it may have something to do with the coach...
  22. Most Aussie kids don't even get once chance to live their dream and run out and play AFL. This guy has had two, and for whatever reason could not pull his head in and adjust to life at AFL level. I just don't think he wants to play AFL. Let him walk away from the game so he can play monopoly with his mates if that is more interesting to him.
  23. Outstanding year form Jordie. The start of the season was full of talk about Scully/TRengove/Tapscott/Gysberts and how they were going to make a difference. Who would of thought that it would be Jordie that made the biggest impact on this side in 2010? I will put my hand up and say I didn't see it coming. I was high on all of the new draftees, now I am all about Jordie's great play.
  24. Hale was my pick. Not in love with his game but he appears to be the most attainable guy on the list outside fraser who is just plain awful. Hale will be dealt, and I think of all the talls he could be had for a 3rd round pick. 3rd could be passed on by the dees depending on how many players stay with us (ala jones and Bruce contract talks) so there would be little harm in shipping it off the the roos for Hale.
  25. For a 4th round pick he would be worth a flyer. Might blossom at a club like the dees with strong indigenous roots. I am not in favor of chasing him hard. If he comes cheap we will have a look, because the truth is Tambling is anything but a star, or even good player at this level. He is now a fringe player that needs a change of scenery damn quick. 4th round pick deal, anything more then forget it.
