  1. We are so fortunate to have so many 'once in a generation' players in the AFL currently. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  2. I wonder how many of the 2024 All Australian team will be wearing Richmond jumpers next year? That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Richmond traded at least a couple from the 18-24 bracket for future 1st round picks and use them to poach top level players next year. They are going to be an interesting watch.
  3. Not sure the AFLPA will come at that. In a combative, high injury risk sport, I just believe clubs need to be protected from themselves. The salary cap is designed to produce a (supposedly) level playing field, so the only bargaining tool clubs have is to offer a longer contract than their competition. The AFL don't like long contracts, so won't offer protection past the first couple of years. A retirement invoking injury to a long contracted player will harm a club for many years. It's bound to happen.
  4. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/10/13/lions-footy-boss-open-to-cap-on-six-year-plus-mega-deals/ I have finally found something that I agree with Corn on. I'm not sure of the legalities of it, but implementing a 5 year max on contracts makes a lot of sense to me. More players than ever before are retiring on medical grounds (eg. concussion). The AFL currently may help with annually decreasing Salary Cap relief, but we, for example, need to factor in Gus' wage for years to come. Other health and attitudinal changes can also come into play and hurt a club for years. It will largely curtail the more ridiculous carrots being dangled to players from other clubs and bring a sanity back into player transfer and recruitment. Thoughts?
  5. 11 weeks would be my guess
  6. The only part of your post I disagree with. ๐Ÿ˜–
  7. You haven't read enough posts here then.
  8. Welcome to Demonland Ricky D. Despite making your points logically, fairly and respectfully, you were attacked relentlessly. Unfortunately, it happens a lot here. Ironically, I believe most here think the club should be having an independent review for bleedingly obvious reasons, but they were either not on-line or disappointingly quiet. You should have started by attacking the press. that will always get you on-side. Really, who outside the club knows the whole story? What we do know is that many things just aren't right on and off the field, and haven't been for some time. Under pressure, the club finally conceded that, but chose to self audit. Great for job security, but not transparency. I fully support your stand on what should have happened, and still needs to. This club leaks like a siv and I expect those particular individuals will survive the process, for it's self-preservation and importance that drives them, not what's best for the club. I will always support the club, but accept we have a habit of self destructing every so often (watch the Norm Smith sacked topic from 13 Sep). You have already been accused of being a journo, using a pseudonym etc. I'm sure more theories will come. You'll get a laugh from them, believe me. But, If you stick around, you will get to read posts from many reasonable and balanced people. It's up to you if you can bother. For what it's worth, I had already signed the petition when I posted it here. If we want to put a full stop to all this, it needs to happen. PS. Saty, I worked in middle management in Federal Government for 15 years, so please disregard this post.
  9. Depends who's asking. In the Animal Farm League, some clubs are more equal than others.
  10. Goal assist of the year - Jack Viney!
  11. Not sure if it's been advised anywhere on Demonland but the same bloke has started a petition. https://www.change.org/p/make-the-melbourne-football-club-review-independent-of-current-club-administrators
  12. Exactly. What I was reminded of tonight is that we have a fantastic core of players (past and present) that deserve our continued appreciation and support, for they are the 'team we love'. As supporters, let's do everything we can to ensure the off field component is as engaged and focussed as them.
  13. You don't co-found a legit company in 2 weeks. This has been planned for some time. We just didnt know it.
  14. if you value club loyalty, don't bother.
  15. Jamie was pick 35 and played 87 games of AFL, more than most at that pick. Rory was pick 44. Just about every club had a couple of picks before he was selected. Were all those clubs pathetic? Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  16. Serious question. He has ties to both WA and SA, and has been linked to both states. He has a 5 month old baby now which puts a different slant on things, as many of us will appreciate. He has stated he's homesick, but where is home? If he states either/or, I would be less sympathetic.
  17. Yep, that was the point I was trying to make, The other 10 hours will be padding and waffle. I'll rely on them and/or Demonland mostly.
  18. Maybe between 12-1, if at all.
  19. Maybe our next coach will come through the Demonland system as well. There are so many here that would do a much better job..........apparently ๐Ÿ˜
  20. So, the 19th ranked Lion, with 10 less disposals and 17 less hit outs, flogged the highest ranked Swan. Get a grip!
  21. I was kinda hoping we would have spoken Tom Hawkins. ๐Ÿ™„
  22. Max likes everyone - although, we've never met. ๐Ÿ˜”
  23. Another close final loss for the Redlegs! Norwood were going for their 32nd Premiership. What an amazing club. Speaking to officials there, I know they feel an affinity with the MFC. Thatโ€™s good enough for me. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™
  24. You're not flying, Ken. You're not flying! F*wit
