  1. I can't help it! I just know there is going be be more wheeling and dealing up to and come draft night. I cant see Richmond taking all 8 picks into this draft. I expect they will trade at least one of their 20's picks for a future first rounder, but I'm thinking also, they may consider the following: We swap picks 5 & 9 for their picks 6, 11 and 24 (first pick in R2 - very valuable) This will leave Richmond 1, 5, 9, 10, 18, 20 and 23 (or a future first rounder - giving them 2 in '25) Given the expected order is so hard to predict, it shouldn't upset our plans too much, except give us an extra qualty pick (Alex Dodson 🤞) I see it as a win for both clubs. I have no doubt we could get a '25 first rounder for pick 24 if we chose to sell before day 2, if we wanted to.
  2. Seems a silly rule to me. Just have 5 interchange. Does any other sport in the world deem it necessary? Genuine question.
  3. 2 results go our way by a total of 1 point!!! Maybe the footy gods are finally on our side. 🙆‍♀️
  4. All night, I was yelling, "a draw is good enough!" Now, I need to stock up on antiemetics to enable me to yell, Go Bloos, next week. 😖
  5. Perhaps you could get a ‘guest ghost’ writer to do your reports for some of those sessions? 🚶‍♀️⚔️
  6. Forgive me for not trawling through 20 pages to see what options have been discussed already. I have been steadfast on keeping both 5 and 9, but I'm now more open to a trade for 9. The more I see and read, the more I realise how deep this draft is. There will be a LOT of talent in the teens that would be top 10's in most other years. Below would be my reaction should we swap 9 for those picks in bold. The italic bold being a counter offer 2nd pick offer. Keep in mind, the Richmond pick 24 will be the first pick of the 2nd round. Highly prized and easily traded for a '25 first rounder should we so desire. I had been trying to work out how we could get a pick in the 20's as I really like a player rarely discussed. I know I will get howled down by most for suggesting a ruckman, but I feel Alex Dodson is something special. He is the u18 AA ruck, 203cm, and regularly gets 20+ disposals per game. Also a top level basketballer, he is really an extra midfielder and has a very high footy IQ. With 3 years under Max, I would be shocked if he doesnt become the best ruck in the league Greater Western Sydney: 15, 16, 21?, 37, 56, 74 😃 🙂 Richmond: 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23, 24? 🙂 😉 Sydney: 19, 22, 44, 59 😐 West Coast: 12, 26, 73 🙂 Western Bulldogs: 17, 25, 35, 48 😐 I have put on my helmet and about to jump in my fox hole. Fire away! Breaking news: Just did a topic search and saw old55 started an Alex Dodson thread on 5 October! Good to know I may have a bunker buddy. 😁
  7. Oh, my bad. Still love him, though.
  8. '21 MFC Premiership player '22 Casey Premiership player (the only player to do both) '22 AFLW Premiership assistant coach. All time fantastic human being. What an amazing contribution (still going) to our club. Proving good guys don't always finish last. What a privilege to call him a Dee. 🏆🏆🏆
  9. Way to turn me off him! 🤮
  10. As did the GOAT - Tulip. I still grieve.
  11. I had to laugh when I saw the Dan Houston thread listed directly under this topic in the Demonland index.

Isn't that where we have come unstuck so often in recent years?
  13. Watching replays of the u18 Championships and I just keep being impressed by Armstrong. He always takes it one grab and kicks it straight. Strong in a contest and a good footy IQ. A natural key forward. I'd love to get him and a good running ball user.

We are so fortunate to have so many 'once in a generation' players in the AFL currently. 😉

I wonder how many of the 2024 All Australian team will be wearing Richmond jumpers next year? That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Richmond traded at least a couple from the 18-24 bracket for future 1st round picks and use them to poach top level players next year. They are going to be an interesting watch.
  16. Not sure the AFLPA will come at that. In a combative, high injury risk sport, I just believe clubs need to be protected from themselves. The salary cap is designed to produce a (supposedly) level playing field, so the only bargaining tool clubs have is to offer a longer contract than their competition. The AFL don't like long contracts, so won't offer protection past the first couple of years. A retirement invoking injury to a long contracted player will harm a club for many years. It's bound to happen.
  17. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/10/13/lions-footy-boss-open-to-cap-on-six-year-plus-mega-deals/ I have finally found something that I agree with Corn on. I'm not sure of the legalities of it, but implementing a 5 year max on contracts makes a lot of sense to me. More players than ever before are retiring on medical grounds (eg. concussion). The AFL currently may help with annually decreasing Salary Cap relief, but we, for example, need to factor in Gus' wage for years to come. Other health and attitudinal changes can also come into play and hurt a club for years. It will largely curtail the more ridiculous carrots being dangled to players from other clubs and bring a sanity back into player transfer and recruitment. Thoughts?

11 weeks would be my guess
  19. The only part of your post I disagree with. 😖

You haven't read enough posts here then.
  21. Welcome to Demonland Ricky D. Despite making your points logically, fairly and respectfully, you were attacked relentlessly. Unfortunately, it happens a lot here. Ironically, I believe most here think the club should be having an independent review for bleedingly obvious reasons, but they were either not on-line or disappointingly quiet. You should have started by attacking the press. that will always get you on-side. Really, who outside the club knows the whole story? What we do know is that many things just aren't right on and off the field, and haven't been for some time. Under pressure, the club finally conceded that, but chose to self audit. Great for job security, but not transparency. I fully support your stand on what should have happened, and still needs to. This club leaks like a siv and I expect those particular individuals will survive the process, for it's self-preservation and importance that drives them, not what's best for the club. I will always support the club, but accept we have a habit of self destructing every so often (watch the Norm Smith sacked topic from 13 Sep). You have already been accused of being a journo, using a pseudonym etc. I'm sure more theories will come. You'll get a laugh from them, believe me. But, If you stick around, you will get to read posts from many reasonable and balanced people. It's up to you if you can bother. For what it's worth, I had already signed the petition when I posted it here. If we want to put a full stop to all this, it needs to happen. PS. Saty, I worked in middle management in Federal Government for 15 years, so please disregard this post.
  22. Depends who's asking. In the Animal Farm League, some clubs are more equal than others.
  23. Goal assist of the year - Jack Viney!
  24. Not sure if it's been advised anywhere on Demonland but the same bloke has started a petition. https://www.change.org/p/make-the-melbourne-football-club-review-independent-of-current-club-administrators
