  1. R.7 2008. vs Fremantle (& Jeff Farmer) We were last on the ladder with no wins. We were 51 pts down in the 2nd quarter. Davey and Green started to fire and we reduced the deficit by 3/4 time but still more than 5 goals down and then........ Robbie and Austin Wonaeamirri went berserk. I remember Jim Stynes going into the Demon Army watching the last minutes with Ozzie's Dad as we kicked 9 in the last quarter. Magic day in a [censored] year. Speaking of 9 goals - Queens Birthday 2000. Jeff Farmer kicking 9 (should have been 10) in 40 minutes was the greatest individual piece of brilliance I've ever witnessed live.
  2. All 3 have Melbourne connections!
  3. I got a Swysh from him (paid by my children) for Father's Day in 2020. They told him I wanted to adopt him (true). He said he was honoured so no - he's mine!
  4. I'm drooling at the thought of this. Was very impressive in his first game against us. Showed incredible poise and footy smarts way beyond his years. Can't see any chance this year with GWS likely losing Bruhn and Taranto but I hope we stick with it for '24. Would fit in perfectly on the wing.
  5. If you were older than me you'd be dead - but agree, END
  6. Take a deep breath young fella, you seem a little on edge today. I will concede I missed the 'alone' in your initial comments which strengthens your argument and sure, I agree, we need to look at the list holistically. But Grundy does improve the list being a superior player to Jackson (at this stage) and every other ruckman bar Max IMO.
  7. That's why we are recruiting him for next year, when we will have 2 less rucks on our books.
  8. The weather channel? At least that changes daily.
  9. He did last year, not sure about the weekend past though.....🤔
  10. And please AFL, can our players have a 'real' mid season bye in 2023 to properly rest and recover. Not the 10 day break we had after Queens Birthday. It was just silly fixturing to play on a Thursday night.

  12. đŸ¤ŖđŸ¤ŖđŸ¤Ŗ Seems we are on a similar wave length xman97
  13. I was thinking about the Collingwood/Grundy negotiations. Eg. What draft pick, how much Collingwood pay etc. It seemed to me that the figure bandied around is $300k pa from Collingwood and I figure a pick around #18 is a fair cost to us. But what picks will we actually have in the end? Could the AFL Draft Value be used in negotiations? The calculation could be a base of $100k and a simple multiplication of points x 200 = $ extra paid by Collingwood. For example my valuation of pick 18 will cost $100k base plus 985 x 200 (197k) = total cost of $297k pa Should they demand pick 12 for example then they contribute $353.6k ($100k + 1268 x 200 = $253,600) Pick 25 will cost them just $251.2k Follow? It may look a little convoluted at first but it really isn't and may be a fair solution. Thoughts?
  14. I was aware of that 58er 😉
  15. Wow! That's harsh!! 🐍
  16. He missed a Casey GF - it was in season for him. So the logic used here is say nothing about it before the GF and then you don't have to after because it's a privacy issue?! No matter - we are just going around in circles. None of us really know and we're not going to be told. I, for one, will move on.
  17. I get that, but as far as we know McDonald missed a VFL GF by re-injuring a serious and known foot injury. Or so we think. Did he or didn't he? It's hardly a privacy issue.
  18. Can we just accept that we were good this year, just not good enough. The standard across the board in the AFL was the best I've seen in decades. As a club, we had a fair bit to do with that as teams copy the way Premiers play. We were also studied by the opposition and tactics were developed to counter our strengths. A drop off in a fanatical desire to win is usually sub concious. You truly believe you are doing everything the same but that 'first' has been achieved. It is not a matter of lacking the want, or a character flaw as such, and it's certainly not because the club did the right thing by members by taking the cup on tour. This year the players knew we can win it, not just have a belief. The fact we didn't will be the strongest motivating factor going forward. I suspect they will give us what we all want again in '23
  19. Why does it have to be a whisper though. Can't the club just make a simple statement?
  20. Was best 1:1 in the league last year before his knee. Haven't got a strong feeling either way on stay or leave, just wanted to give the bloke credit for how he probably exceeded my expectations when we first recruited him.
  21. Our AFLW side has taken it to another level. Last 2 matches we have kicked a total of 9 goals in the first quarters. After that (eg 6 quarters), 1 goal. ☚ī¸
  22. A very fair and accurate assessment on what I saw. Not writing him off as a footballer, but would be surprised if we picked him up this draft given our limited picks.
  23. I think Melbourne's Premiership has spoiled me for any other match. I need to re-adjust 😄
