We need to understand that this is the first publicised contract offer post the 20%+ pay rise so figures are going to look inflated to historical offers. Current players will all get a piece of the pie at their next contract if their form warrants it. Lever will make us a better side - fact. That means finals - combined with other improvements, maybe even the big one. What will that do to every other MFC players market value? I would be jumping for joy if I were a current player. The benchmark in these things has been Hawthorn. How do you think this deal compares to the $500K p.a (pre 20% rise) Ty Vickery got. -

Adelaide are acting totally unreasonably and unprofessionally. It is almost a form of football terrorism trying to create a frenzy of fear, hate and jealousy within our club, players and supporters. We have dared to lure a player back home as they did with Thompson and are trying to do with Gibbs. Well Victorians get homesick too and Lever has called their bluff and they don't like it! FFS the poor kid had to live in Adelaide for 3 years - give the kid a break!!! We should be celebrating this news as our club is trying to win a Premiership - FOR US!!!! I am sick of being the wimps of the competition, on and off the field. Don't feed the Adelaide FC hate. -

Yeah, lets stick with our plan of the past 53 years. That will work! People are speculating the amount anyway. The bigger the amount, the bigger the reaction. Don't get sucked in. -

Agreed. Hadn't heard $mill mentioned. Wouldn't be surprised if Adelaide would throw that around though. Hell hath no fury as a Crow scorned. -

Pleasantly surprised by Barrett's questioning. Wasn't letting Burton fob it off without a fight and Burton ended up sounding a dikc -

Burton clearly interested in a career in politics. Broken record. -
Top post. I was in Primary School when Melbourne won their last Premiership. I have now retired. I went through secondary school and my whole working life never having the satisfaction of bragging to my mates on a Monday that my team 'won the flag'. I have inflicted upon my 5 children, 3 grandchildren and my wife with the pain of being a Melbourne supporter also. I have often felt guilty about that and 3 of my kids have been lost to football altogether, I believe because of years of humiliation. The club has even cruelly made me a supporter of Crystal Palace in the EPL because of a vague link between the 2 clubs in the 80's (hence my pseudonym). Palace currently sit last in EPL 0-7 not having kicked a goal for the season and having had 17 kicked against them. So you see I have a PhD in Disappointment. I visit Demonland so I know I'm not alone in my pain. I read comments that I can truly empathise with in the moment but detest in the cold light of day. I laugh at myself and others that can/do/have bestowed various players with the title of champion, dud, gun, plodder, gutless, slow etc etc. depending upon how they played on any given day. I have threatened and come close to giving them and AFL away because it just hurts too much sometimes. But I haven't - 38 years consecutive MFC membership. A friend asked me once that they appreciate the attraction of AFL but couldn't understand the fanaticism of club supporters to their team. I hadn't thought about it myself but found myself answering that it's one of the few constants in life. Friends, partners, work mates and loved ones may come and go, whether we want them too or not. Our football team may too - but it will be our choice. We may abandon them through frustration but they will go on. Our fear is that if we do then we won't experience the ultimate satisfaction when success finally arrives. We will have put ourselves through decades of heartache without experiencing the moment of bliss we crave for and frankly deserve. Read Long Walk to Freedom to fully appreciate true suffering and patience. Remember the incomparable joy and ecstasy on the faces of Bulldogs fans last year and now the Tigers. They thought their day would never come too. We need to have the faith and unwavering commitment we demand of our team, especially when things seem darkest - as they did for the Bulldogs and Tigers. Go Dees!

Do you really believe that his history would be a negative in the eyes of betting agencies?

Lever and O. Mac tie in Brownlow! 1 vote each. Maybe Oscar should ask for pay equity -
There's still time

Swan was clearly given free reign to say whatever he felt with the betting company’s account, and attendees felt the brunt of it at times.

Yep, remember that. Roos seemed very keen early then did a severe back pedal. Someone obviously got into his ear - unfortunately.

He will win an MVP and Coaches award in years to come but not flashy enough for Brownlow.

Definitely the highlight of the night for me. "Don't they know who I am!!!!" Suck it up Princess!
