WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOSHUA WAGNER
Palace Dees replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
The next person to do a bad pun will get a boot in their orchestra stalls!!! -
Me.... but I did get thrown out of the NMFC Social Club in the 70's for drunkenly barracking for the Dees on the Channel 7 replay!

I was keen on what I saw at the champs, but with just 56 effective disposals and 56 INEFFECTIVE disposals in 13 games I am a little cooler. Twin brother Ben has similar figures (better efficiency) and strengths, also playing with Gippsland Power after making a late decision to try out. He may be a better option if we feel he will be there for our later picks? Anyway, I haven't seen enough to be confident and in Taylor I trust.

Ridiculous comment...........Hogan will win the Coleman

Picking a midfielder does not come with guarantees, I know that's not what you are suggesting but if we go Parish at 3 (my preference) we have picked the midfield cream of the past 2 drafts to add to Jones, Vince, Tyson, Salem, Viney, etc That is classy bunch. McKay seems show a lot and if he develops (2 years plus at least) will cover what otherwise will be a gaping hole and/or an over reliance on one player in our forward line. You need an army of midfielders to be successful as we know but quality forwards are also important to achieve success .Even if it is higher risk, it is higher reward as a one off high draft selection. If MFC believe he will be a quality player I would love him in red and blue next year.

,,,,and there lies the problem

I have been watching all the previously Foxtel televised u/18 championship matches recently, not bothering previously until I knew our picks. I concluded that my preference from this limited knowledge/viewing was Parish at our first pick and McKay for our 2nd. The McKay pick was not really mentioned by anyone for us before and I had my ego stroked a little by the Fox Footy Phantom draft which replicated my top 10 exactly that I had based on full matches and various reports (I don't trust highlight packages as alluring as they may be). It is very possible we both are way off but McKay impressed me more than I expected whilst Parish displayed what I had read and left me very happy that we are expected to choose him. McKay is certainly more than a mark and kick option with good skills and football smarts. He is obviously very tall but quite mobile and still a little way off turning 18 . Huge upside to him and I would be rapt this this to happen, but won't complain if it doesn't because I trust the club more than me in this regard.

Phht............not so special. I ran a whole hour longer to do mine

Believe it or not one can get a little frustrated at times reading some of the posts on Demonland. However in this thread it seems most of us are getting what the new look MFC is trying to achieve and have earned our trust and belief rather than just blind faith. They have articulated to fans what the plan is, recruited on and off field well and have been steadfast in sticking to that plan that has to be years in its realisation. By naming the qualities they recruited for they explained why JH will not be a loss and why other current players need to further add to the one or two steps they may have already taken in 2015 to be a part of the future (JW etc). There is no doubt our club understood the opportunities this new world draft offered better than the opposition and shocked the other clubs in improving our list and draft picks simultaneously. The last day flurry of exchanging of draft picks from other clubs proves this but it was to little too late in most cases because we got the cream in an almost underworld hit style the previous day. As has been stated, we are building real depth now and we will soon no longer fail the bottom 6 theory to success. The club knows what they doing and they do it without leaking like the proverbial sieve. Stick with it Demonlanders.....we are about to be rewarded.

They read the new (trade) world better than all the other clubs in regards to the points system and absolutely cleaned up. Other clubs will be more savvy next year so such a coup won't happen again. Fantastic work MFC - couldn't have done it better.
-
I reckon GC would say 3 & 61 (135pts) for a total of 2369. That way they finish in front (just) and we can get Parish. I would be very happy with that
-
We have 46 which sounds a little better and hopefully gets it done.
-
Someone should let him know Melbourne is in Victoria.

Or pick 3 to get so we can get the super talented Parish! We HAVE to stick fat with this, If JH doesn't want to move interstate then he does not have to. Guess what Jeremy - you already have a Victorian club - us! Your manager said it's not about $$$ (snicker) but about having a set position to play each week. Hmmm.......so Collingwood have obviously said we will play you where you want to Jeremy because it's all about you sweetheart. We will play you as a (insert whim here) until you tell us you want something else. FFS Jeremy, if you want this then go back as playing coach of the obscure team, in the most isolated state in the world, that we recruited you from so it can be all about you. It's such a selfish attitude from a bloke that his current coach said this year played the best non possession half he had ever seen, yet you apparently feel unloved and under utilised. You have F'd us around all year and waited until well into trade period to pick your team. Well JH, it's not your call! A player with 10 times the ability you have (Bennell) ultimately had just one club willing take the risk with him because of his selfish attitude. Your not in his class and you will be found out very quickly at your new club. Gold Coast will be more forgiving as your MO of mark of the day followed by instant turnover will be tolerated more in a non AFL state. I will miss your one trick but not your attitude. We are better off without you. 'Bye!

Quote “I told my manager I didn’t want to speak to any other club, but it’s funny after seeing one of my great mates [James Frawley] win a premiership on the weekend, because you have to be envious of success,” he said. “I was watching the game and people said ‘wouldn’t you love success?’ and I said ‘it wouldn’t mean anything to me unless it was with Melbourne’ for top dollar Jeremy Howe

Freo is not the only club with embarrassing supporters

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Palace Dees replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Totally agree. It wasn't an attack on Barrett as such (although given the chance.....) but more that, as frustrating as it is as a supporter not I hearing anything, it is how it should be so the due diligence and negotiating is being done without external pressures. That is my belief (hope) but if I'm wrong ........ then THE END IS NIGH! -

I hope Harley is not reading this thread - he'll never come to the MFC

To do that Richmond would have to win a final to get there. You're dreamin'

It's an interesting discussion point. Will the dropping of the sub and reduction of interchange increase the instances of playing 2 ruckmen? Jamar may be required for another year after all. Of all positions, ruckmen are the hardest to pick as teenagers. Don't really know the rucking capacity of King as he has played in a Casey team with 2 established AFL experienced ruckmen and hasn't had much opportunity to show the club. Many examples of 2nd string ruckmen blossoming when given the no.1 role at their existing or a new club but very few recruits starring as the 2nd ruck/forward. I prefer Option A and see what impact the new rules have and/or other other changes in the evolution of the game that occur each year.
