^This Sam is not a ruckman. He was played there at Casey because simply, we had no one else after Daw retired. He was beaten in the ruck contests in every VFL game I saw. As usual he showed glimpses around the ground in Casey games but he never has in his 59 games for Melbourne (2018 Elim Final v Geelong excepted). He's been with us since his teens and is now 25yo. It's time.

It's not often you see nefarious and tossers in the same sentence. An apt description nonetheless.

Yep, we've all done something that dumb. The exception that proves the rule 😉

Disgraceful! I'm so glad that never happens here 🙄

I wouldn't be averse to rookie listing Callow. Still only 20yo next year and looked good as an 18yo. Strong mark and lovely kick.

Judging by the hysteria here, he must be costing us 3 Ist rounders. FFS people.....get a grip! If he is coming, it's a low cost strategic option in an area of weakness. Jeeeez!

Josh Bruce and Ben Brown are the last 2 players to kick 10 goals in a game. 😉

It might be just me, but I've always liked him. Wouldn't cost much and kicks goals.

GWS - AFL's version of a finishing school for footballers 😁

And this is Tim Lamb to Peter Bell

You realise you are prolonging the debate with this post 🤣 Petty is far better in the air than Tomlinson and if it works could be a 10 year forward. Tomlinson has been solid but is never going to be a match winner or a go to target. Petty has the potential to be. I still think JVR is our main hope there but Petty should be given a taste up forward at least occasionally, even if just to mix things up a little. We need a plan B up our sleeve to use before a game is already lost.

Whitfield & Haynes on the trade table?
Palace Dees replied to Cheap Seats's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whitfield of 2020 is exactly what we need, but he suffered a serious internal injury in '21 that he stated at the time may take 18 months to recover from. This probably explains his drop in form this year and he may well be back to his brilliant best next year. However, he'd be on big $ and his contract still has 5 years to run! We'd want to be confident of his health before committing to yet another long term contract. He turns 29yo next season. * Sorry Diamond_Jim, have just seen your similar post. Anyway, caveat emptor. -
Peter who?

Out Harmes.......in Hunter? There goes the neighbourhood

Have just got back to Demonland after spending the past 4 hours in family time - remember them? I won't spend hours reading through all comments, but if Harmes is pushed out......it would be a catastrophe. To me he is the most 'Melbourne' player. Love him to bits. Never heard anyone say he didn't give his all. FFS MFC, you have to see what he brings to the club, tangibly and in. Seriously, my lifetime passion would be challenged. He must stay!

Great idea! We can then negotiate with the jar he keeps it in. 😉

Yeah, I think 5 minutes would be long enough before deleting

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
Palace Dees replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah....nah. Still waiting for my first. -
He was the sole reason I became an MFC member 43 years ago. The team was rubbish, but I just had to see Robbie play live. Like Muhammad Ali, he turned his sport into an art form. There has never been, and I believe never will be, a player like him.

R.7 2008. vs Fremantle (& Jeff Farmer) We were last on the ladder with no wins. We were 51 pts down in the 2nd quarter. Davey and Green started to fire and we reduced the deficit by 3/4 time but still more than 5 goals down and then........ Robbie and Austin Wonaeamirri went berserk. I remember Jim Stynes going into the Demon Army watching the last minutes with Ozzie's Dad as we kicked 9 in the last quarter. Magic day in a [censored] year. Speaking of 9 goals - Queens Birthday 2000. Jeff Farmer kicking 9 (should have been 10) in 40 minutes was the greatest individual piece of brilliance I've ever witnessed live.

All 3 have Melbourne connections!

I got a Swysh from him (paid by my children) for Father's Day in 2020. They told him I wanted to adopt him (true). He said he was honoured so no - he's mine!

I'm drooling at the thought of this. Was very impressive in his first game against us. Showed incredible poise and footy smarts way beyond his years. Can't see any chance this year with GWS likely losing Bruhn and Taranto but I hope we stick with it for '24. Would fit in perfectly on the wing.
