  1. Don't get too hung up on the pick number, 'cause that's all it is at this stage, a number. If we feel there are a couple of players we really like (and suit our needs) that are gettable with later picks, we will look at splitting pick 9.
  2. There seems to be no intention of Fox replaying any u18 championship games. Every avid footy fan is interested in who their club will pick in 17 days, but all we see on Fox Footy are repeat upon repeat of AFLW games and/or the same 'classic' games ad nauseam. They broadcast the u18 games live so they have them to show. It's just lazy broadcasting. I contacted Fox weeks back to suggest they show them and was told my suggestion would be passed on. Yeah, sure.
  3. I really hope we find a way to get an early 20's pic (I previously put forward a way in the draft day thread). This kid is not your usual awkward tall teen. Meet the basketball convert putting up extraordinary numbers
  4. Needs to have completed at least a level 2 to coach himself. 🙃
  5. Absolutely my take on it also. Never saw it as offensive or antagonistic. I can't believe the mods would have done this themselves, surely? That would be 🤪 I would understand if the vomit emoji was removed, but not the thinking one.
  6. In the post prior to yours, of the top 30 picks, 24 are Victorian, 1 is West Australian. PLEASE MFC, pick the Vic's!!! Eliminate at least one reason why players will want to leave us. 😭 P.S. Only 10% joking
  7. According to those that know, 24 or 23 in this draft more valuable than usual, including next years. Also, phantom drafts differ wildly, as I'm sure you know, so there is no obvious order. Because of the depth of talent, even if we lose the clubs next higher rated player in one of those swaps, I expect the next option would only be a 1 or 2% rating behind. All hyperthetical of course and I'd be happy if it did or didn't happen. Just slightly happier if it did.
  8. Agree. That's why I was editing when you posted. I'd prefer 24 over 23 for that reason, but 23 would still be great. 😁
  9. I can't help it! I just know there is going be be more wheeling and dealing up to and come draft night. I cant see Richmond taking all 8 picks into this draft. I expect they will trade at least one of their 20's picks for a future first rounder, but I'm thinking also, they may consider the following: We swap picks 5 & 9 for their picks 6, 11 and 24 (first pick in R2 - very valuable) This will leave Richmond 1, 5, 9, 10, 18, 20 and 23 (or a future first rounder - giving them 2 in '25) Given the expected order is so hard to predict, it shouldn't upset our plans too much, except give us an extra qualty pick (Alex Dodson 🤞) I see it as a win for both clubs. I have no doubt we could get a '25 first rounder for pick 24 if we chose to sell before day 2, if we wanted to.
  10. Seems a silly rule to me. Just have 5 interchange. Does any other sport in the world deem it necessary? Genuine question.
  11. 2 results go our way by a total of 1 point!!! Maybe the footy gods are finally on our side. 🙆‍♀️
  12. All night, I was yelling, "a draw is good enough!" Now, I need to stock up on antiemetics to enable me to yell, Go Bloos, next week. 😖
  13. Forgive me for not trawling through 20 pages to see what options have been discussed already. I have been steadfast on keeping both 5 and 9, but I'm now more open to a trade for 9. The more I see and read, the more I realise how deep this draft is. There will be a LOT of talent in the teens that would be top 10's in most other years. Below would be my reaction should we swap 9 for those picks in bold. The italic bold being a counter offer 2nd pick offer. Keep in mind, the Richmond pick 24 will be the first pick of the 2nd round. Highly prized and easily traded for a '25 first rounder should we so desire. I had been trying to work out how we could get a pick in the 20's as I really like a player rarely discussed. I know I will get howled down by most for suggesting a ruckman, but I feel Alex Dodson is something special. He is the u18 AA ruck, 203cm, and regularly gets 20+ disposals per game. Also a top level basketballer, he is really an extra midfielder and has a very high footy IQ. With 3 years under Max, I would be shocked if he doesnt become the best ruck in the league Greater Western Sydney: 15, 16, 21?, 37, 56, 74 😃 🙂 Richmond: 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23, 24? 🙂 😉 Sydney: 19, 22, 44, 59 😐 West Coast: 12, 26, 73 🙂 Western Bulldogs: 17, 25, 35, 48 😐 I have put on my helmet and about to jump in my fox hole. Fire away! Breaking news: Just did a topic search and saw old55 started an Alex Dodson thread on 5 October! Good to know I may have a bunker buddy. 😁
  14. Oh, my bad. Still love him, though.
  15. '21 MFC Premiership player '22 Casey Premiership player (the only player to do both) '22 AFLW Premiership assistant coach. All time fantastic human being. What an amazing contribution (still going) to our club. Proving good guys don't always finish last. What a privilege to call him a Dee. 🏆🏆🏆
  16. Way to turn me off him! 🤮
  17. As did the GOAT - Tulip. I still grieve.
  18. I had to laugh when I saw the Dan Houston thread listed directly under this topic in the Demonland index.
  19. Isn't that where we have come unstuck so often in recent years?
  20. Watching replays of the u18 Championships and I just keep being impressed by Armstrong. He always takes it one grab and kicks it straight. Strong in a contest and a good footy IQ. A natural key forward. I'd love to get him and a good running ball user.
  21. We are so fortunate to have so many 'once in a generation' players in the AFL currently. 😉
  22. I wonder how many of the 2024 All Australian team will be wearing Richmond jumpers next year? That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Richmond traded at least a couple from the 18-24 bracket for future 1st round picks and use them to poach top level players next year. They are going to be an interesting watch.
  23. Not sure the AFLPA will come at that. In a combative, high injury risk sport, I just believe clubs need to be protected from themselves. The salary cap is designed to produce a (supposedly) level playing field, so the only bargaining tool clubs have is to offer a longer contract than their competition. The AFL don't like long contracts, so won't offer protection past the first couple of years. A retirement invoking injury to a long contracted player will harm a club for many years. It's bound to happen.
