Different types of players IMO. Yze was an absolute gun, particularly from that 1998 - 2004 period, but he was soft. Salem is hard-as-nails from what I've seen, if we're lucky (and I mean really lucky) I can see him becoming a Luke Hodge-type.

This sounds about right. We rated Salem at 3 (said by JT at function some posters here attended, late last year), and wouldn't have taken Kelly at 2 so that probably reads 1. Boyd, 2. Billings, 3. Salem. So we "sort of" got Tyson for free. Great trading.

I personally think we're a big chance of retaining Frawley now. We've shown enough improvement and with Roos there for another 2 seasons at least, finals are a distinct possibility in that time. He doesn't strike me as the money-chaser type either.

Come on, he'll either make a comeback to footy with us, or not make one at all. Pigs will fly before Clark's playing at Freo. Not everyone is Tom Scully. The guy's attitude towards the club from Day 1 was exemplary, and he continues to show his support of the club on twitter and I'm sure in real life too. He's a Melbourne man through and through.

Both Grimes and Terlich have the same problem. They think they can hug the boundary line with their kicks or spot up a target with pinpoint accuracy. Neither can, and neither should. Know your limitations (Gergiou was good at this, TMac is improving too) and stick to them.

There's a few pieces of the jigsaw still to be complete but if we recruit smartly again over the off-season (pfft, it's Paul Roos! Of course we will) and get a fit Hogan onto the park in 2015, I reckon we'll make the 8. Calling it early.

I know he wasn't on the original list but Cam Pederson aka the Pedotrain has got them all covered. Jetta, a lot will give credit to Roos but he played a breakout game in defence against the Dogs last year (the last game 2013) and has carried that over into this season. It's great to see Bail playing good footy after all those concussions.

I'm almost certain the quotes were made-up. As Roos suggested tongue-in-cheek today, a recruiter THAT incompetent would never see the light of day at an AFL club. Journalists have absolutely no accountability in the industry and thus this Sam Edmund clown can write he wants, fabricated or otherwise. Upon further reflection the 'unnamed recruiter' in question may have in fact been Barry Prendergast. Carry on.

Has anybody else noticed how often we get crucified by the maggots for what I call "random" HTB's? The one against Matt Jones in the last was an absolute stinker. Yet it happened on MANY occasions today. And last week. And against the Crows. And in most games this season. What's even more amazing is that we NEVER get them paid our way.

All players make mistakes, even the good ones. And especially tired ones. I'm not sure why 90% of your posts today have been negative. We nearly beat the best team in the comp.

Salem and Tyson both have 'it'. Viney has 'it'. Watts, when he wants it has 'it'. I'm really hoping to see it from Toumpas, but I'm yet to see 'it' from him yet... apart from occasional glimpses.

To be fair Jetta played as a defender in our last game last year, a close loss to the Dogs, and was sensational.

Tyson was worth trading pick 2 for on his own, so anything Salem does - like that mesmerising goal-assist, is a bonus.

Grimes, what an absolute liability. Right at the end there, I said tongue in cheek watch Grimes turn this into another Port goal... and he nearly bloody did! Lucky we have Salem, Tyson and The Pedotrain playing like absolute legends.

I'm so sick of umpires missing clear free kicks in general pay then paying RIDICULOUS holding the ball's at random intervals (ALWAYS against us too). Port deserve to be winning but I think 20 point lead flatters them. We have played pretty well after the early avalanche. JKH is all class.

I don't think Mitch Clark's mental health problems would have had much if anything to do with his large contract. Depression runs a lot deeper than what's on the surface. Scully's problem lies with a distinct lack of skill and strength.

Not a win-win trade until Broomhead plays a game and makes an impact. They could certainly use Dawes in their F50 atm.

I wouldn't mind throwing draft picks at at least one of Patton, Treloar, Hoskin-Elliot, or Shiel at the end of the year.

Most of us spent all of 2011 hoping, praying, wishing Scully would stay. It's a good thing he didn't! I doubt he'd get a game for us at present, I'd rather Matt Jones and Rohan Bail.
