One week! Probably fair enough given his carry over points. At least he's back for Collingwood.
-
He's only 26 and just reaching his peak. He strikes me as the type of player that will go well into his 30s and still play good footy. By then he'll be a bonafide MFC legend if he isn't already.
-
He was great, and while Jamar doesn't have the same presence around the ground as his golden years, his presence is definitely noticable too. Can't see Spencil getting a run any time soon.

Salem's first HTB free kick against (very early on in the game). I would like the umpire's explanation on what the hell was going through his head. No prior opportunity, didn't dive on it, making a genuine attempt to dispose, ball locked to him. There is simply NO WAY that can be a free kick. To think it happened again later in the game, to the same player too. Meanwhile great rundown tackles from our side (and to be fair, a couple of Richmond's too) went unrewarded. It was one of the worst officiated games I've seen in recent years.

Not sure about that one. Great defender, just don't give him the ball. Bail definitely.

The official I love Dom Tyson thread

Seriously one of the worst football articles that has ever been written. I would place a wager the quotes from the article are completely made up. There's no way any recruiter worth his salt would have watched Tyson in 2011 Championships and seen anything but 'class'. Yep, the quotes and these 'unnamed' recruiters aren't real people. I'm sure of it. -
He is a great kick, overcooked a couple today, but also delivered some pearlers. Thought he was OK today, needs to play on after he marks more though.
-
Clearly the coaches and recruiters need to be commended. All of our recruits from end of last year, onfield and off have been hits. Every single one. It also shows just how out of his depth Neeld was (to think, some wanted him to see out his contract). We had some really exciting wins under Bailey but I like watching the current team more than any other since the Daniher days because of the way they go about it.

The Bernie Vince goal. Are my eyes deceiving me, or did it look headed for a point all the way off the boot, then right at the end it was almost as if a magnetic force pulled it back into the goals. A really amazing kick.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON

This year? No. But in future years, he'll be a lock! -
There was more than one.
-
Disagree on Grimes, always gives his all but he was a liability at times today. Otherwise, pretty much spot on. You can bet your bottom dollar that every game we win under Roos will have everyone playing their part. A gun coach.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

Straight after Tyson's second goal, which came from a Cotchin brain-fade... Eddie: "And look at young Viney. Right up in Cotchin's face, letting him know about it." -

What a gun! -
Viney played one of the most impressive games I've ever seen from a kid at this club. The chase on Jackson in the second quarter should be replayed 10 times when they sit down and review the game. Throw in the class of Tyson, the grunt of the bald-nugget, and the support from the old-timers (Vince, Cross), and it's little wonder we're winning games now. Oh, and having the best coach in the land doesn't hurt either!

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 9
Bang Bang Bang replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - Jack Viney 5 - Jack Watts 4 - Nathan Jones 3 - Dom Tyson 2 - Cam Pederson 1 - Jeremy Howe The whole side deserves the 6 this week. So proud of the effort. -
Paul Roos doing his reputation no harm. What a sweet feeling.

Living overseas, pretty sure I woke up the building after Salem's chase on Houli. We might not win (bloody hope we do) but the spirit is back in this team, we have a heartbeat! Also, a big call but Viney could end up as good as Joel Selwood.
-
Were you asleep when he hit Watts lace-out for a goal? Or conveniently forgot about it? (EDIT: thanks Nasher, you beat me to it!)
-
Good to see Demonland whipping boy Toumpas everywhere that quarter. Although he didn't bring his kicking boots with him. Viney's an unbelievable talent. How about that chase on Jackson!!!!
-
For what it's worth, I live overseas and watch every game through the AFL website's streaming service. About $100 for a season pass but they probably have cheaper short-term subscriptions too. Could be worth looking into. Surprised to see JKH as the sub although very pleased to see Salem get a start. Love the optimism people on here have towards this "Pigdog" character, but let's not forget he was delisted by another club not long ago. Wouldn't be expecting miracles but if he can play a role like a Terlich or Matt Jones then I'll be happy.
-
Would be a pretty dog act, IMO, for Hogan to jump ship at the end of 2015. I know footy's just a business these days and these players don't have the same emotional attachment to the club that we do, but come on... I'd hate him more than Scully if he walked.
-
Dean Kent has not only recovered from that calf injury, he has played a game and been suspended since! Tapscott and Michie both played VFL on the weekend. Unfortunately that injury list is way outdated. Won't be seeing Hogan any time soon.

Can't remember the name of the function, but soon after the draft was complete, Jason Taylor apparently told a small group of diehards at said function that they rated Salem at 3. My guess is they had Boyd at 1 and Scharenberg at 2. -
I meant more in terms of kicking goals than the contest- he has kicked 3 already in just over 3 quarters of an AFL career. To me, that suggests he's getting in the right areas.
