  1. I'd have to say that Spargo doing a Selwood to Selwood is one of the best things I'll see in my lifetime. Hate that guy with a passion.
  2. He obviously doesn't remember that game against the Crows in 2019. TMac by a country mile for me, unless we're allowed to count Ben Brown.
  3. I can understand the interest in this trade given the media love to hound us over it. But a little known fact - we were never taking Kelly. After Boyd there was no consensus #2 pick that year. GWS were keen on Kelly but a lot of names were in the mix. Our man was most likely Jack Billings, who had trained with us in earlier in 2013 and ended up going at 3 to the Saints. I'm not sure if this can be easily found on the internet but I'm almost certain somebody at the club confirmed this around 2015-2016. With that in mind, Salem is a better player than Billings on his own. Tyson gave good service early on and then helped us get us Preuss who in turn helped us get Ben Brown. Jayden Hunt has had a serviceable career to date. GWS would be very happy with Kelly's output too. Both clubs benefitted from the trade. In hindsight, probably keep the pick and draft Bontempelli, but the trade certainly wasn't as binary as the clickbait Herald Sun journos would have you believe.
  4. Jason Taylor has a good eye for it, IMO. He had a particular good year in 2019 - three young guys who are already entrenched in the best 22. No need to wait and see if they come good, they already are. Somewhat annoyingly, he was also very keen on Georgiadis that year and Butters in 2018. Maybe the only questionable one he has on his resume is Weideman at 9 in 2015, but even that selection is getting pretty close to parity. No point picking Curnow if he never gets on the park.
  5. Nobody will talk about Jackson given Kosi's genius, but seriously how good is he? Some of his pickups were akin to Pendlebury in his prime not a ruckman in his second year. Going to be very very good and allows us to use Gawn as we please.
  6. Even when Toby kicked two in two, I didn't feel worried. This is a good team we're watching. Kosi is next level genius.
  7. You’re kidding yourself. I agree Max was staging there but that was also one of the worst free kicks I’ve ever seen paid. “Obvious block” lol.
  8. Such a satisfying win. A real team performance. I don't know who was BOG, but Kozi is a bloody machine. Suck [censored] to all those who were sharpening the pitchforks during the second quarter. Okay, I was one of them.Goody for PM.
  9. Because he was a fringe player at Richmond, and like 17 other clubs we didn't have that amazing crystal ball you seem to have at your disposal.
  10. You don't need to be playing champagne footy in Round 1 to win a flag. You just need to bank points. I'm sure we'll lose games this year. Some games will be more frustrating than others. But I prefer to live in the present. We won a game of footy. I genuinely feel sorry for those who can't savour that.
  11. 6. Lever 5. May 4. McDonald 3. Oliver 2. Petracca 1. Spargo
  12. You guys are a [censored] miserable bunch. I'll take the 4 points any day of the week doesn't matter how we get them.
  13. Steven May and Jake Lever were incredible really. As good as I've ever seen from a defensive duo in our colours.
  14. Keep kicking it in May’s area please Freo.
  15. Of the young guys I think Jackson and Rivers absolutely should be in best 22 even when we get our better players back. Bowey looked good but not in the side yet. Jordon didn't enthuse me at all, looked below the level required.
  16. TMac turning the ball over, Fritsch kicking waywardly, Harmes getting pinged HTB and giving away careless frees, no name Dogs players kicking goals out of their rear ends. Our best player getting injured. Garry Lyon taking great pleasure in all of the above. Are we sure we want footy to be back?
  17. Only watched the last 10 minutes but Jackson must have been eating steaks for breakfast, steaks for lunch and steaks for dinner since the season ended.
  18. Only one year added to current deal. Would have liked at least double that. Happy though. The guy did some insane things in his first year and you can see he was one of the most popular guys at the hub based on player IG stories and the social media releases over the journey.
  19. How many of you think the Jordan Lewis trade was a success? For mine, it was largely a waste of time. Anything he might have done for culture was countered by him doing all of [censored] all on the field for three years, and was even one of our worst in the 2018 finals series which was one of his selling points at time of trade. Fantastic player in his prime but getting him at all wasn't worth it in my view. I have the same view here.
  20. Similar to Kent in my opinion. Both decent fringe players with a penchant for memorable goals. We'll swap him for a can of coke and he'll do well for the Dogs, but we won't lose much sleep at the same time. His goal in 2018 is easily the best MFC goal of the modern era IMO. Best wishes Mitch.
  21. Seem to remember we were going to get both him and Josh Kennedy (Swans) in 2014 without giving up either of pick 2 and 3. According to the riddle anyway. Missed our chance.
  22. Development is king - in some cases. Not here. OMac has some traits that allowed him to have six seasons with us. Not a bad intercept marker, a good kick for his size. A good kid with his head screwed on by all reports. But his lack of strength in the contest has always been a problem. His biggest deficiency by a mile though is his lack of pace. I've lost count the amount of times he would lumber in behind his opponent who'd take an easy chest mark, not to mention the amount of times the ball would sail/dribble past him for a goal when a faster player, heck any player, would have been able to get a hand on it. No development coach in the world can fix that. I'm not suggesting he goes out there and doesn't try his best, but he doesn't have the intensity required for AFL footy. That game he played in Cairns was almost Tom Gillies like in its badness and thankfully Goody finally saw the light. I wish OMac all the best, but let's face it. In the past decade only one MFC player has actually gone to a new club and flourished (Jeremy Howe). We overrate our players big time, in most cases anyway.
  23. Doesn't surprise me. Was always an iffy decision at best to come here and now Jackson's arrival has put the final nail in the coffin. Slightly off topic but Jackson would have pushed Top 5 in the B&F if you apply his votes per game across a full season. Incredible for a first year ruckman. The club has a serious hard on for him so hopefully he can be locked away well past 2021.
  24. I love Max Gawn. I think he's an absolutely brilliant ruckman and a terrific ambassador for the club. But he shouldn't have been in the squad for this season, let alone the final 22. He really needs to "do a Luke Beveridge" and donate that jacket to Steven May.
  25. Nice to see Trac win, May rewarded with 3 trophies, and Langdon finish Top 5. It's a much better reflection of individual seasons then the absolute atrocity that is AA selection. Surprised that Viney got third, but he always polls well and his speech was classy AF. You sometimes forget how hard hub life must have been for certain players until you hear stuff like that. Pure class to start off with Wagners and Dunkley acknowledgement too. I'm not a Goody basher like some others on here, but he really is not a good public speaker.
