  1. Richmond in 2004 had five picks in the top 20 and used them on Deledio (1), Tambling (4), Danny Meyer (12), Adam Patterson (16) and Dean Polo (20). They also picked up JON at #8 the following year. Whoever their recruiting manager at the time might be challenging Prendergast for his crown. It's little wonder they were awful until recently when their drafting improved a lot.
  2. Matt Jones did crack it for 9 games this year, nearly half the season! if getting Melksham helps decrease that figure to 0 in 2016 then I can see the rationale. It's a fairly weak argument though.
  3. I can normally rationalise and mount an argument for any player we're linked to at this time of year, but I can't even begin with Melksham. Would be up there with drafting Gary Moorcroft all those years ago.
  4. Forget Howe, that was the best mark I've seen from a Demons player this year. The context of the game and then to go back and slot the goal made it even better.
  5. Another 7 votes in the AFLCA votes. One coach gave him 4 and the other 3. He's absolutely killing it.
  6. He didn't hesitate extending his contract at the back end of last year, and we were playing much worse footy then. Relax. He is already pretty close to elite. There is seriously nothing he can't do. Even his set shot routine has improved and I'd back him to convert most of his chances.
  7. I guess the majority of players that have done their ACL in the past have made full recoveries, but there's still a fair chunk of players that have done it again, and again (Menzel, Alex Johnson, Morabito, Patton and Clay Smith are five recent examples). Fingers and toes crossed that Petracca falls into the former category.
  8. I'd say Jetta and vandenBerg are the hardest players to tackle in this team. In the modern game, that's a great skill to have. He's not the world's greatest kick but makes sensible decisions. Good player.
  9. I don't think so. Pendlebury got up and kept playing. Had he been concussed, then Jack would be looking at weeks for sure.
  10. Turning into a gun of a footballer. I really like the unsociable side to his game - heckling Williams and Swan with a minute or so left in the game. He's really doing his bit in turning the club's 'soft' culture from earlier years around.
  11. He had a pretty good strike rate last year with Melbourne-related news. He was the first to tell us of Hogan's back injury, then the setback with the injury, then Mitch Clark's stunning decision to seek a trade. He's a [censored], and his 'opinion' articles are horrendous, but I don't doubt he has good sources at Melbourne.
  12. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.
  13. Rockliff had 14 touches. For some perspective, that's his lowest possession tally since Round 9 2011 where he also had 14. Round 6 2010 was the last time he had less. Not only did Viney negate his impact, he was able to get 23 touches himself. We're not talking about a Simon Godfrey tagger here, we're talking about one that do damage the other way. I'd be shocked if he didn't get maximum votes in the Coaches award.
  14. 28.11 for the year. His approach doesn't inspire confidence but it seems to work. He's no Ben Holland, that's for sure!
  15. Another match-winning performance! I was watching on the TV, but his second goal looked he was kicking from 50m and it cleared the fence. So while LONG kicking is not his strength, he does have it in him.
  16. This clearly isn't factual information.
  17. Viney is almost the forgotten man of our young brigade. Has looked good from game 1 but he has also steadily improved with each season, they way you expect it to be. 28 touches to Selwood's 16 is a complete annihilation. He's never going to be an elite kick but his decision making has definitely improved. I don't panic when he gets it anymore. Gun.
  18. Don't underestimate the degree of difficulty with that tackle. I've never seen a tackle as good as that on a "Don't Argue". I'd honestly rate it as one of the best, and comparable to Nathan Carroll's tackle on Gehrig back in 2006. It's just a shame it still ended up in a Saints goal not long after it.
  19. MFC leading goalkicker in 2014: Chris Dawes (20 goals) Hogan has already surpassed that and hasn't even played half a season. And it's his FIRST season! Very special talent.
  20. He did kick a good goal from 50m against Sydney. But I agree, it does lack a bit of penetration. He'll probably dob one from 55m on his left foot next week now we've said it.
  21. I live overseas, would love to have been there. I have acknowledged that vandenBerg isn't the most skilled player already. Hasn't stopped him being one of the recruits of the year.
  22. Who has provided better 'bang for their buck' than vandenBerg across the league then? There probably are some, but I said he was 'one of' the best. Dennis Cometti was marveling at him all game and I'd like to think he's seen a few players come and go over the years.
  23. One of the recruits of the year (league-wide). Just a mean looking player that bulldozes his way through the opposition. Not the most skilled player out there but doesn't need to be.
  24. Love him! He's having more impact this season than what Petracca would have had, and we can inject Petracca as a new recruit ala Hogan in 2016. Not saying I'm happy Petracca went down injured when he did, but from a team perspective it hasn't worked out too badly. To pluck someone from the Canberra leagues and see them impact AFL games straight away in this manner is rather impressive recruiting...
  25. Anyone that went and saw him play in the NAB Cup at Etihad, in February 2013, would have known we had a serious player on our hands. But for him to be monstering the best key defender in the game after four games is something else. Who would win? Hogan vs Tommy Mac. Let's hope we never have to find out.
