Anyone know what the current tally is? -
TRAINING: Monday 9th January 2023

Photos pre-Christmas he looked a lot more toned and seemed to have dropped a bit of the 'puppy' fat his was carrying when drafted. I definitely think he's one to watch, he has fantastic skills when he is up and going. -
Happy to play the Eagles in Perth for the next few years given it will almost be a guaranteed win. The Kardinia park stats are ridiculous and shows just how unfair the fixturing is, with some clubs getting shafted while others get dream runs. If the AFL were actually serious about equalisation they would ensure that at a minimum, a team can't play against another side away two years in a row unless they have a corresponding duble up.

The bench now is really just for player rests, so it doesn't really matter if he starts there or on the field.

My best 22 for Round 1 would be: B: Bowey May Lever HB: Salem Petty Brayshaw C: Hunter Viney Langdon HF: Neal-Bullen McDonald Harmes F: Pickett van Rooyen Fristch R: Grundy Oliver Petracca Int: Gawn Rivers Sparrow Spargo Tactical Sub: Jordon

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ahh yeah I get you. I'd personally rather him be seen as a higher pick so we get a bargain paying a lower pick for a high ranked player. I think ideally between 10-20 and we try trade up for a top 10 pick. -
2023 NATIONAL DRAFT ORDER AND SELECTIONS
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So going off that scenario and assuming Gold Coast's academy player is a top 5 pick, I could see us doing the following: Melbourne Trade Pick 13 - 1,212 points Pick 14 - 1,161 points Pick 33 - 563 points Gold Coast Trade Pick 7 - 1,644 points Pick 26 - 729 points Future 2nd or 3rd round pick That would give GC an extra 563 points and then we end up with pick 7, 26 & 32 for the 2023 draft. -

Or Freo bomb out with endless injuries and finish bottom 6..... that would be a dream -
The biggest question for Geelong is will their aging players have the desire to climb the mountain again. It is never easy to back up after a flag and given half that team have been pushing for many years may make it even harder.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

I think in an ideal world for us, Jed Walter is seen as a top 5 pick and we do a swap with Gold Coast, who will hopefully finish with a pick inside the top 10 -
So essentially, we swapped Oskar for Hunter? Handy. All the best to him though, seemed like a ripper bloke.

Cheers. Pumped to see JVR in the seniors this year! Jefferson definitely looks like he needs 2 preseasons to be close to selection at this stage. Holding out hope he can build his tank and body size over the next 2 years to potentially look at playing late 2024 or 2025. Potentially he could be played as a third tall early days. -

Kev, love to get your early thoughts on JVR & Jefferson. How are they both looking on the track? Obviously don't think MJ will play much AFL in 2023, but keen to get your thoughts on how he looks as a future key forward option. -

I think the biggest benefit of having Hunter, other than his ball use, is we will have two genuine wingers with huge tanks for teams to worry about. Last year Langdon began getting tagged out of games, such was his importance to us. Now with Hunter teams will have to worry about both.- 58 replies

I was thinking he looks so young... hopefully that bodes well for his body development and he has lots of growing to do still. -

Now that there are 6 double up games, I wonder if the AFL will change the way they work out the fixture. The easiest way would be every side plays 2 sides from the top 6, middle 6 and bottom 6 to keep it fair. My view is they should go even further and schedule the first 17 rounds with no double ups. Then at say round 13 or 14 they can work out who each side is playing a second time based on a weighted average to try keep the draw as even as possible. It was obvious the Cats were extremely favoured by the draw last year getting to play two of the statistically worst sides in history twice, giving them four guaranteed wins and by an average margin of 69 points.
