Every player is different, some are ready to go within the first year or two and others take time. Just because he was pick 15 does not mean he has to be played within the first 2 years. If you watch some of the most well run clubs such as the cats and swans they take their time developing players before they play AFL and thankfully so do we now.

I really don't think there are many options out there unfortunately, so who knows maybe we will have a crack with Rory Lobb.... Kalani White won't drafted until 2025 and even then will take a good 2-3 years to be a consistent performer. Mabior Chol was the one we probably should've gone for last year, but even he is pretty inconsistent. We had the best ruck/forward in the league.... but he got homesick

If we bring in Rory Lobb a few Demonlanders heads will explode I imagine...

Billings, Mcadam and Laurie are all contracted so won’t be going anywhere. The others are likely, plus Tomlinson.

Take your pick really. I prefer we strengthen our list and stiff to whoever misses out. Based on the current team probably Howes misses out, but who knows next year.

He hasn't turned 26 and the only reason he hasn't played much this season is due to injury. He played 24, 21 and 20 games the three years prior. So completely different to Hunter and Billings.

Isaac Cumming is an unrestricted free agent who I hope we are looking at. He would be a good replacement for Gus as that utility who can play halfback or on a wing. Turns 26 in a few months so is in a good age bracket for us as well.

Totally agree Plus the forward line is the one area we need as much experience as we can get!

Great point. Our supporters look at our scoreline and bemoan the fact we scored the majority of goals in 1 quarter but ignore the fact that this is fairly common with most teams in tight, contested games.

I'm not so much concerned about this specific issue, but I think it just goes back to the flimsy way the AFL run their competition. They flip flop constantly and are swayed by the media & large clubs on certain decisions, when they need to work out what is the best way to grow the game and work on a system that does this.

The stupid thing is, the AFL can give them this but if they suddenly become a strong club again they will receive complaints and then will no doubt reverse it. The AFL have to be the most knee-jerk sporting competition in the world, and by a fair margin. How about they work out a system you think is fair and promotes growth in the overall country and then commit to that for 20 years before reviewing again.

I check the Oakleigh teams and haven't seen him named at all? Is this because he is playing a different competition?

I think 5-7 spots will be fairly easy. Brayshaw, J Smith, Tomlinson, Ben Brown, Schache & Hunter. That is 6 spots and I didn't even have to look at the rest of the list...

Has been injury prone since then, but there are many instances where players are injury prone for many years and then get their bodies right. Think Shaun Burgoyne, everyone thought he was cooked and then he ended up playing 400 games 🤯. Definitely not saying Salem will play 400, but I think we have to continue working with him to get his body cherry ripe. Important player when up and going.

100% agree. If one of Turner or Petty can’t ruck then one should come out for Fullarton. JVR is a generational full forward for god’s sake.

Why are the commentators trying to have a crack at a Melbourne player for ‘staging’ again? Kolt got bumped late by Zorko and how are they to know how hard he felt the hit? These commentators are a disgrace (hodge in particular) and I wish the club would call them out on their carp
