  1. So after all of this news, are we trading for anyone other than McAdam?
  2. I thought it was based on years of service for the one club, but you may be right.
  3. I highly doubt Swans would be swapping pick 11 on it's own for Grundy. Maybe we are looking at a pick swap, ie. Grundy and pick 13 for Swans pick 11 & 31?
  4. 100% agree. Scrap compensation and it will actually promote more player movement, as teams won't be holding off on picking another player due to fears of diluting compensation. I personally think that once a player has been on an AFL list for over 8 years, they should be a free agent for the remainder of their career. So for example, player X chooses to move to another club in their 9th year on a 3 year deal. At the end of that 3 years they can choose to move to another club and still be a free agent. If people feel 8 years is too short then could always start at 10 years and see how that goes and reduce if needed. This made up compensation nonsense is a joke.
  5. I forgot about the GC pick that will apparently be going to the dogs.
  6. I'm thinking anyone who can teach leading patterns and creating space in the forward line. Time for Stafford to either move on or go back to full time ruck coach.
  7. I personally don't believe in 'premiership windows'. Everyone thought the cats were done 3-4 years in a row and they kept making top 4, grand finals in 2020 & 2022 and 1 flag. The only two players close to retirement of our best side are May & Gawn, both likely will have 2 seasons left. Free agency also means we can top up with players if we need and we can trade for needs as well. 8 of our semi final side are under 24, plus Petty and JVR didn't play who would have made it 10. 17 of the 22 from the semi are under 30 also.
  8. Why not. Pies brought in a 25 year old Mihocek and he's been great for them.
  9. Assuming North don't get access to him, you would have to think he would be available at our pick. Likely draft outcome will be: 1 - Harley Reid (WC) 2 - Jed Walters (GC) 3 - Colby Mckercher (NM) 4 - Zane Duursma (Haw) 5 - Ryley Sanders (Mel) With the loss of Jordon, Dunstan & Harmes we really need more midfield depth coming in and he is a high end one. Even if North get pick 3 for McKay, it is hard to see them taking both McKercher and Sanders given the amount of midfielders they have. Think they would be more interested in either Curtin or Caddy with that pick. If we can get another pick around 10 and take O'Sullivan I would be very happy with those two.
  10. Have a feeling Brown will retire. Think we will hold onto TMac for one more season.
  11. Some of our FD decisions this year were mind boggling. Culminating in the decision to play Schache as the tactical sub in a do-or-die final and then choose not to make a sub. Definitely not the reason we lost, but I just can't fathom why the coaching department would think it's a good idea to not have fresh legs come on? In comparison, Ollie Hollands came on and offered some genuine speed and run.
  12. My ideal off-season would be as follows: - Trade for Mabior Chol to be our ruck/forward (44 goals in 2022 show he is no slouch) - Trade Grundy for pick 22 and then look for a cheap back up ruck option (Hayes or Flynn spring to mind) - Utilise our picks pick 13, 22, 24, 34 and future first to end up with two top 10 picks and ideally another within 20 this year - Draft one of McKercher, Duursma or Sanders with our first pick - Draft O'Sullivan with our next pick - Draft a classy ball user with our 3rd pick and Kynan Brown with a later pick - Trade a 3rd rounder to Adelaide for McAdam There will be other players that I'm sure will pop up, but that to me is the key things we need to address. Oh and I would not be trading Tomlinson and plan to play him with Lever and May next season and a forward line with Petty, JVR and Chol. Potential team: B: McVee May Rivers HB: Salem Tomlinson Bowey C: McKercher Viney Hunter HF: Petracca Petty Neal-Bullen F: Fritsch JVR Pickett R: Gawn Oliver Brayshaw Int: Chol McAdam Sparrow Chandler
  13. I'm heading to Europe on Thursday so will miss the great man's 200th! An absolute legend of the club and one of the greatest leaders we've ever had. I'll try and get a live stream while I'm over there.... anyone know how?
  14. Brodie Grundy was fine on Saturday and played his role. With Petty down and Brown and TMac shadows of 2021 we don't really have any other options.
  15. I was definitely not having a go at Kate Roffey. She's fantastic. It was more the club as a whole... get your point though
  16. My mate just showed me the holding the ball on JVR in the last few minutes (I couldn't see it from my spot in the MCC). That is the worst decision in history and an absolute disgrace. Was a text book taking the legs and should've been a JVR free.
  17. If we haven't already, I hope the club grows some gonads and sends a please explain to the AFL about the number of times Gawn is manhandled. Just because your 208cms doesn't mean you don't deserve the same rules as everyone else.
  18. Because if I'm North I'm just holding out, worst case they get the 2nd/3rd best player and best case WC take Curtin and they get Reid.
  19. Would not be surprised if WC went with Curtin pick 1. He looks to be a pretty awesome prospect.
  20. Funnily enough after the Dogs game at the start of the season she mentioned the crowd. I then went to check the corresponding game that the Tigers played the Dogs the year before and the crowd size was almost identical.
  21. If you've every listened to the Real Footy podcast with Caro, Michael Gleeson & Jake Niall, Caro is constantly trying to pot our crowds saying she was disappointed in the turn out. The other two then say, oh no I thought the crowd was fine for that fixture. Has happened multiple times. A heap of people in the media seem to treat us with disdain, but whetever who gives a F, let's just prove them wrong. FYI I don't listen to that podcast anymore because of her.
  22. It makes you wonder why the AFL were so keen on having 18 teams, when they had no plans for a proper season.... such an amateur organisation.
  23. Agreed. Have no issues with his courage in the air. He won't be a big bodied key forward, but more in the vein of a Jarrad Waite type player I think.
  24. Our defence looked very vulnerable in the first half, which I put down to having Smith come in with not a great deal of training with the defence group. Lever looked all at sea early and was unable to play his natural role. I would like to see Tommo come back in to focus on a lockdown role to allow Lever to play with more freedom (exact same thing happened early in the year). As for the replacement for Petty, who knows what we will do. Grundy will be a massive upgrade in the ruck but downgrade forward. Smith is a much better sub in my mind than playing a full game. Schache is the most obvious like for like replacement, but not sure he is up to AFL standard.
