  1. The umpiring was pathetic, but not surprising. Without a doubt that helped Collingwood get the result, given they won by 6 points. Expecting the AFL to put their heads in the sand, but really they should come out and say we are reviewing it closely and will be working with the umpires to see how we can improve. Whenever we have number 22 umpiring I just know it’s going to be a bad day…
  2. He got a 3 week suspension
  3. So if we won by 3 points instead would you then be happy with how we played? When talking about such small margins against good sides you can simultaneously play well, but also lose.
  4. Definitely not happy with an honourable loss…. But you can be unhappy but also acknowledge the things that went well
  5. It actually worked pretty well. We lost by 3 points against a top 4 side.
  6. I think there’s a time and place for the ‘get it in there’ strategy. For example, when it is wet it isn’t a bad strategy as long as you are kicking to the right areas and not to the advantage of the other team. But for the most part ball movement and short kicks are more beneficial ways of scoring. Also, being able to defend well around your 50m arc and then burst away when you win it back. That’s the best way to score and probably why the hawks won last night.
  7. The Hawks main vulnerability was stoppages inside 50, which they struggled to defend tonight even though Carlton have pretty average small forwards. Shows how important the mosquito fleet is in modern footy and why it’s important we get Pickett, Chandler, Henderson, Spargo and Sparrow all up and going and putting on high pressure in our forward line.
  8. The dreaded expected score wins again
  9. I’m hoping we go with: Bowey. Petty. Salem Howes. Lever. Mcdonald Langdon. Oliver. Lindsay Sparrow. Jefferson. Henderson Chandler. JVR. Fritsch Gawn. Trac. Viney Rivers Spargo Langford Turner Sub: Sharp Rivers and Lindsay can cover Windsor’s backline rotations. JVR will have to second ruck. I am going to feel so good about the side when McVee, Pickett and Windsor are all playing….
  10. He was ok. I’d like to see him as the sub. Could come on with his leg speed in the last and glide past other players
  11. He mentioned in the video that he’s been dealing with that Achilles issue for a few years, so I’m hoping now that he’s had the operation he could get back to his best.
  12. Think round 1 starts this week. Playing North at Casey Sunday morning.
  13. It seems the media only care about 'culture' when a team is losing. Which is why using the term culture to discuss a football side doesn't make sense. You could have a group of players who are incredible people, donate to charities, help old ladies cross the road, are perfect family men or women. If that side starts losing, does it mean the club culture is a problem? No, it just means as a club they aren't playing good football. I hate when the media bang on about culture, it is such a simplistic way to view a football club.
  14. There’s a suppression order in place… but everyone knows now anyway
  15. I enjoyed his first game, a real bulldog and think he’s exactly what we need for a pressure forward. If Fritsch can’t get back into form I can see a world where we go the three talls and then have Sparrow, Pickett, Henderson, Chandler, Sharp and Trac all playing as the small/mediums around them. Fritsch is our most natural forward and goalkicker, but if he isn’t kicking goals then he becomes less useful. The alternative then is to go with a group of high pressure forwards who can lock the ball in the forward line.
  16. Nah I think they are pretty happy with his development and I liked what I saw in preseason. He's 5th in line for a KPD spot at the moment, but I think if he doesn't play a game this year he will next.
  17. I assume the changes in points per pick still stays though? Which would make it hard for GC or GWS to match 3-4 players inside say top 20 or so. In any case, still confident White chooses us but this does make me slightly more nervous…
  18. Bowey as well. Those 5 are crucial for us moving forward. Rivers is good because he can burst 10m and kick close to 60m, so perfect to gain field position. Agree that his short kicks are very hit and miss.
  19. The AFL change their minds more often than I change underwear
  20. Yeah that was definitely talked about that Chaplin was taking control of ball movement
  21. He’s way bigger than when he first got to the club! I reckon one more pre season and he will be ready to explode.
  22. It’s a stupid thing to include and very easy to manipulate. The outcome is the outcome, the action is what needs to be looked at.
  23. It’s to do with wording brought in last year ‘potential to cause injury’. So Michael Christian, who somehow still has a job, must’ve thought there was potential to cause injury in Johnson’s one and not Humphrey.
  24. I read somewhere that said they are unlikely to challenge further
