  1. Wouldn't have thought a small forward would be high on their priority list given they had Bobby Hill, Jack Ginnivan, Jamie Elliott & Beau McCreery all playing in their GF team.
  2. The other option is we swap 10 & a 2nd round pick for pick 7. End of the day we could end up with 3 first rounders, so won't even use the 2nd and 3rd rounds other than to match a bid on Brown. But if we could do 13 and a 2nd and have picks 5, 7 & 10 that would be amazing.
  3. Well to clarify, the reason I think they're dumb is that you can't say we are better than them when the outcome proves otherwise. We definitely could be better than them, but we weren't this season and they are holding the cup. I love May's passion and also love him as a player. And just on passion, I am as passionate a supporter as anyone and I am loud and get behind the players every game. Our club has too many mild mannered supporters and I agree with this.
  4. Well based on this North are an absolute shoe in to get pick 3 for McKay
  5. Just my view, which I'm entitled to as is Steven May. Coulda, shoulda never won anything. Words mean nothing, got to go get the job done next year. Tbf May is one of the only ones that can genuienly say he played his best in both finals.
  6. Dumb comments to make, but he was obviously pretty [censored] and had the red wine lips going! Honestly, if the Pies and their supporters get triggered by this it actually shows how insecure they are. You won, who gives a toss.
  7. I thought someone said Turner could spend another year on the rookie list?
  8. I have a feeling we will go hard at the draft this year and I would be comfortable with us trading a first round pick next year to give us three top 15-20 picks this year. I wonder if GC will be happy to swap pick 4 & 5 if we give them an extra pick? Will we package up a few picks to pry pick 7 from Geelong? Can we also get a hold of a pick around 15-20 using our future first? Imagine we end up with: Pick 4 (likely pick 6) - take your pick from McKercher/Duursma/Sanders Pick 7 (likely pick 9 or 10) - Connor O'Sullivan Late teens pick - Windosr/Wilson/Leake/Tholstrup 4th pick - Kynan Brown We can then go hard at trading next season, which may have better options.
  9. Does anyone have an update on list spots? By my calcs so far it is probable that: Out - D Smith, M Hibberd, B Grundy, J Jordon, L Dunstan & J Harmes In - S McAdam, T Fullarton Leaves 4 spots with the potential to upgrade Daniel Turner from the rookie list?
  10. I'd be happy if we pick up Riley Bonner as a delisted free agent. No world beater, but would add additional kicking skills and could play at half back and allow us to move a Rivers or Salem more permanently further up the ground.
  11. I'd still like to see us get another experienced back up ruck. Feel like we may see Tom as a potential forward/ruck best 22 player and allow us to not use JVR in the ruck (much prefer for his career long term). At least with him in we have some level of depth in the key forward stocks and may allow Petty to stay back.
  12. It's interesting to compare American sports to ours. They are generally very focused on the here and now, rather than future outcomes. A lot I think comes back to the owners needing financial returns as opposed to long term team success.
  13. So after all of this news, are we trading for anyone other than McAdam?
  14. I thought it was based on years of service for the one club, but you may be right.
  15. I highly doubt Swans would be swapping pick 11 on it's own for Grundy. Maybe we are looking at a pick swap, ie. Grundy and pick 13 for Swans pick 11 & 31?
  16. 100% agree. Scrap compensation and it will actually promote more player movement, as teams won't be holding off on picking another player due to fears of diluting compensation. I personally think that once a player has been on an AFL list for over 8 years, they should be a free agent for the remainder of their career. So for example, player X chooses to move to another club in their 9th year on a 3 year deal. At the end of that 3 years they can choose to move to another club and still be a free agent. If people feel 8 years is too short then could always start at 10 years and see how that goes and reduce if needed. This made up compensation nonsense is a joke.
  17. I forgot about the GC pick that will apparently be going to the dogs.
  18. I'm thinking anyone who can teach leading patterns and creating space in the forward line. Time for Stafford to either move on or go back to full time ruck coach.
  19. I personally don't believe in 'premiership windows'. Everyone thought the cats were done 3-4 years in a row and they kept making top 4, grand finals in 2020 & 2022 and 1 flag. The only two players close to retirement of our best side are May & Gawn, both likely will have 2 seasons left. Free agency also means we can top up with players if we need and we can trade for needs as well. 8 of our semi final side are under 24, plus Petty and JVR didn't play who would have made it 10. 17 of the 22 from the semi are under 30 also.
  20. Why not. Pies brought in a 25 year old Mihocek and he's been great for them.
  21. Assuming North don't get access to him, you would have to think he would be available at our pick. Likely draft outcome will be: 1 - Harley Reid (WC) 2 - Jed Walters (GC) 3 - Colby Mckercher (NM) 4 - Zane Duursma (Haw) 5 - Ryley Sanders (Mel) With the loss of Jordon, Dunstan & Harmes we really need more midfield depth coming in and he is a high end one. Even if North get pick 3 for McKay, it is hard to see them taking both McKercher and Sanders given the amount of midfielders they have. Think they would be more interested in either Curtin or Caddy with that pick. If we can get another pick around 10 and take O'Sullivan I would be very happy with those two.
  22. Have a feeling Brown will retire. Think we will hold onto TMac for one more season.
