  1. Expecting a massive game from Oliver and Petracca. They were both ordinary last night and looked like they were playing bruise free footy. Not surprised given it is a pre-season match and not concerned. What I did like is Gawn got the players together as they were walking off, no doubt to let everyone know that's not good enough. He was the only player that looked like he gave a sheet.
  2. We typically have 7 defenders in the side - last years GF was May, Lever, Petty, Rivers, Salem, Bowey and Hibberd. I think round 1 will be May, Lever, Tomlinson, Smith Salem, Bowey and Hibberd.
  3. Left Perth at 24 and my whole family live there.... I'm allowed these comments 😜
  4. Not sure why he wouldn't.... being from Perth it is a pretty boring place for a bloke in his early 20's. Glad I moved to Melbourne!
  5. Yep. Pretty sure players wear their same number for Casey
  6. Not really. No one really cares and means nothing to win.
  7. From my understanding it was discussed that they wanted a social area as part of the home base. Not sure how that will work, but it was definitely mentioned in previous commentary.
  8. I thought the way we embraced WA and turned them onto our side was done incredibly well. Being from WA and speaking to people back there, they think there are a number of neutrals who don't like the Eagles or Dockers may jump on board the Dees as a result and the enjoyment factor of the GF over there. In regards to signing up members, the tally shows we have approx. 9,000 more members signed up as of the first week of March than last season, which is a 25% increase. If we were to take that 25% increase and add it to the total members for last year (not including the GF members), it would result in a total of 66,485 by the time the memberships close. So I think we are on track to capitalising on the first year after being premiers, but if we want to build a really powerful club and supporter base there are a few things we need to do over the next 5 years: 1. If we can win another 1 or 2 flags and build that dynasty we can start to get more members on board who like being part of a successful club and push the membership numbers up to 70k-80k. 2. We need to get the home base underway ASAP to create a 'one club' culture and enable supporters to go down after a MCG match to have a few beers and chat. It would also then enable great after match functions and speakers, such as past players/current players etc. 3. Continue to build a strong AFLW brand to attract more female supporters who can then convert to also following the men's side. Thinking there should be a joint mens/womens membership for the 'one club' feeling. I don't think we could ask much more after the first flag than over $2m of merch sold and an increase in membership at the moment. It's only been 5 months since we won the flag, so not enough time to assess how well we are capitalising.
  9. It's funny that he has Papley at 23 and he kicked 43 goals last year, where Pickett kicked 40 and isn't even in the top 50. Not sure how Fritsch doesn't make it either, after kicking 59 goals for the season.
  10. I don't think the jury is out on that one. Tomlinson has shown to be a solid AFL player for many years and has played 160 games, while Joel Smith has so far managed 21. I think May, Lever and Tommo will all be in the round 1 side, given Petty likely won't be available. Joel Smith will be probably competing with Rivers and Hibberd.
  11. Hopefully we can also continue to convert MCC members to dual membership to up the numbers. Would love to know the total number of demon supporting MCC members. FYI this isn't a dig at MCC members, would just love to know how it would make our total supporter base numbers look in comparison to other clubs.
  12. Didn't see any difference, other than a few ridiculous holding the balls paid.
  13. We were on track for $60k before Covid hit again. I don't think 65k is out of the realms of possibility after a flag, but I think it will end up somewhere between 60k and 65k.
  14. For some reason when I click that link I can't see the article? Are you able to copy and past it here?
  15. Wouldn't begrudge Gus for choosing to leave for a bit more money and play more in the guts. He has been a fantastic team member and integral in ending the drought. Hopefully we can go back to back and if he does choose to leave he will be a two time premiership player. At the end of the day if it came down to sending extra money on Gus or Jacko, I know who is more valuable.
  16. 100% agree. Gil is an [censored] expanding at such a rapid rate, when the pool of quality women footy players has not increased at that rate yet.
  17. Champion data's way of assessing players is really not up to scratch and they should re-think this. I think it does work to an extent for midfielders, given their job is generally to get more of the pill. But you cannot tell me all of Daniel, Williams, Saad and Hind are elite defenders. They don't even defend most of the time, so the only reason they are classified as 'defenders' is because they are in the backline. Kozzy puts more defence on than them and he's a forward. Their system also doesn't take into account the fact that if you have a more even team, you are always going to have less players because you spread the load. Unless you just chip the ball around racking up stats - hence the dogs having 7 'elite' players. Too bad those 7 elite players couldn't get them a flag.... though they tried really hard and were only 74 points away.... Couldn't care less about champion data, but if you are going to go public with this dribble maybe re-think how you assess different positions/teams.
  18. We are now at capacity. Thanks to everyone who joined up.
  19. He's a better man than me... I would've said sorry too busy.
  20. We've now got 15 people locked in for the SC league, so only 3 spots left. If you are keen make to get in ASAP! Once filled that's it.
  21. We now have 6 confirmed for the league and 12 spots left. The league code to join is 766171.
  22. 100%. Plus players are tested fairly regularly from my understanding. They would have known it wasn't COVID, he is just having a whinge as per usual. No wonder their players are so entitled, their coach is the worst of the lot.
  23. Ah back injuries are a nightmare! I've had to deal with back tightness the last 2 years as well, especially with Covid and sitting at a desk all day. Yeah sounds good. Reach out when you are back down there and we should have a hit.
  24. Do you play there CYB? Should tee up a round sometime.
