him playing in the 22 is a bit of a giveaway

The lack of respect for defenders is getting ridiculous in footy. in the norm smith voting McGovern only polled one vote and Schofield didn't poll any. Both of them were instrumental in the win not saying Shuey doesn't deserve it but I'd like stats/touches to be less involved in voting across the awards

DubDee replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Someone in the Sun asking is May worth 2 first round picks?!? has the world gone mad!? dont have a link, it was on the home page of superfooty -
what is that 10+ players now that are out of here?? we better get busy in trade week! pick 121 might be getting used at the draft
-
fact or opinion? would love the cats to get screwed over and hit bottom
-
Can recommend watching the Cats Elimination Final over a few whiskeys. All is well with the world

I don’t care what the BS manager talk is, no way he goes to north. Wtf would he? im confident he will come to us if we want him
-
How about their runner costing them a goal?? So many magical moments

Carlton wooden spoon Drug cheats missed finals

Yeah we didn’t learn anything from round 23 last year. Just made a prelim the year after.

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!

Absolutely on our best 22. If anything he was rushed back in before being ready. After a preseason he would solidify it even further -

Pathetic if we only offered him one year. You don’t offer a bloke in your best 22 a one year deal. Players need some job security not thinking like they are constantly one injury away from losing their job -

Market price about pick 30? big loss. We lose size and hardness around the contest and another tall target up front. I expect him to have a big year next year -
can one of you accountants open a separate Tax thread on the general board for the love of all things holy!

didnt work for Rivers, Chip or Garland though. oh god they were dark times in all seriousness I think if O Mac builds up his body over the next 2 years he could make a decent fwd. better skills than Tom
-
once you factor in a mortgage, private health insurance, grocery prices, he won't have much left!
-
we are fked. Suddenly O Mac is training with the forwards!! :-0
-
if he wasn't injured he would have likely kicked 60 goals for the year and I would expect 70+ next year Weid showed very little in his first couple of years and played one great game a couple of decent games. He now shows promise but we cannot bank of him playing 22 games next year, he could be anything or a flash in the pan losing Hogan will have some short term pain for sure.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
DubDee replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone else worried about recruiting May? Everyone says he is proven but I don't think you are really proven until you have played for a decent side and have played in pressure situations - big crowds. May has done neither. -
Mcgovern nominates Carlton. wow and Shiel might do likewise. you can tell who the money hungry players are
-
I agree, I don't think many want to trade him but it seems he wants to go back to WA so we are dealing with this potential reality
-
you do realise all of our best players have come from the draft? aside from Lever. if we can pick up another Oliver/Gus/Hogan then why not do it. they do not take long to have an impact and will extend our time at the top. our recruiting team have been amazing the last few years.

Given our age profile I actually wouldn't mind not bringing in a star (unless we get a beauty like Kelly) and going to the draft. It is meant to be a great one. most of our golden generation are 21-24. to draft a couple of gun 18 yo's (realistically only one might be a gun) would spread our age profile nicely and set us up for a longer spell at the top. Although it would hurt our immediate term a bit. it would also help our salary cap. save the big money for the gun players, not guys like May
