  1. Even Paul Callery took 10 marks that day, must have been worm burners.
  2. Who else remembers Greg Parke who took 24 marks Even the umpire was Marks! ← Round: 6 Venue: M.C.G. 3. I have spoken to Mark Jackson on two occasions, he was quiet, thoughtful and no fool. The Mark Jackson on the footy field and the one on TV seem to be a creation of his. He may have a split personality and be mad as a cut snake but that is not the guy I spoke with. He does have a special ability to be that ratbag bogan. I wonder if he really is mad.
  4. So mods is personal abuse now acceptable? Edit:- Obviously not, thanks.
  5. Oliver certainly gave that Sandringham player a mouthful.
  6. Yes OD, I think he was partial to one.
  7. As in battered sav?
  8. This may help. NB:- The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your source. Or as Aristotle said " The more you know the more you know you don't know"
  9. Ted, many a wise man have mistaken me for a Albert Einstein. Maybe it is my hair, but I digress. It has taken a man of sublime wisdom to get to the bottom of this conundrum. I am not Albert Einstein or his cousin. I may be a fish trying to climb tree but that does not mean that I am stupid, but you know that. As I always say, the difference between stupidy and genius is that genius has its limits.
  10. Sorry to correct but that is Pre-constructed cake. This is deconstructed cake.
  11. I think this is what you really meant. and Peter Jess is not his manager. Edit:- On re-checking you may be right.
  12. 4 more disposals per game in this case is actually 46% more possessions per game. Rivers also had about double the marks in an era with less possessions, particularly chipping around the backline. So yes that is a huge difference. So 11th v 79th is a huge difference, but you don't like stats or does that only apply when it does not support your argument?.
  13. I find it mildly amusing that you rightly question who "he" is. You then make reference to Diamond Joe not Diamond Jim, mind you, you may know him personally or you don't care.
  14. Picket, I am glad to see that you too recognise the great mans knighthood. Sir Robbie. You may note that I include his letters MBE DRBM or to the layperson Melbourne's Best Ever Deserrves Retrospective Brownlow Medal Sorry but I digress ...again.
  15. ......long enough, go Hunty the next All Australian, Brownlow & Norm Smith medalist in our 2017 premiership side. Runner up in the Coleman too!
  16. Back on topic, I think Hunt excites me as a player as much as any player we have drafted in a long time. That speed is breathtaking, I think we may have something (what would Bruce say?) Special! NB:-Patrick Dangerfield did not win a rising star. Edit:- Patrick Dangerfield came 7th on 4 votes - Danial Rich won on 45 - 2009 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_AFL_Rising_Star I see a fair bit of Dangerfield in Hunt 2009 2016 Patrick Dangerfield Name Jayden Hunt Geelong Cats Team Melbourne Demons Midfield Position Forward 169 Career Games 12 Geelong Falcons Origin Brighton Grammar April 5, 1990 Date of Birth April 3, 1995 Turned 19 in 2009 Age 21yr 3mth 189cm Height 187cm 92kg Weight 79kg 2007 National Draft Last Drafted In 2013 National Draft Round 1, Pick #10 Last Draft Position Round 4, Pick #57 Adelaide Crows Last Drafted By Melbourne Demons 2009 Stats for Season 2016 21 Games 12 5.0 Kicks Per Game 7.5 8.0 Handballs Per Game 7.2 13.0 Disposals Per Game 14.8 2.8 Marks Per Game 2.9 1.0 Goals Per Game 0.1 0.9 Behinds Per Game 0 2.2 Tackles Per Game 2.4 0 Hitouts Per Game 0 0.6 Frees For Per Game 0.8 0.7 Frees Against Per Game 0.9 http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=10&playerStatus2=A&tid2=12&type=A&pid1=2310&pid2=3970&fid1=P&fopt1=2009&fid2=S

  18. 79th among those eligible to receive a nomination. Edit:- Stats are from footywire.com
  19. Just for fun and my last post on Talia (I hope) I compare Tommy Mac and Talia in 2012. 20. No, you are wrong. Rivers stats in his Rising star year are better than Talias, but don't let facts stop you. In 2004 Rivers was 11th overall for disposal averages among Rising star nominees, Talia was 79th. Edit:- NOTE:- 11th & 79th among eligible players for rising star - thanks billy2803 Jared Rivers Name Daniel Talia Geelong Cats Team Adelaide Crows Defender Position Defender 194 Career Games 113 North Adelaide Origin Calder Cannons October 18, 1984 Date of Birth October 2, 1991 Turned 20 in 2004 Age Turned 21 in 2012 194cm Height 196cm 94kg Weight 98kg 2002 National Draft Last Drafted In 2009 National Draft Round 2, Pick #26 Last Draft Position Round 1, Pick #13 Melbourne Demons Last Drafted By Adelaide Crows 2004 Stats for Season 2012 22 Games 23 5.9 Kicks Per Game 4.6 5.9 Handballs Per Game 3.4 11.8 Disposals Per Game 8.1 5.0 Marks Per Game 2.6 0 Goals Per Game 0 0 Behinds Per Game 0.1 2.2 Tackles Per Game 1.8 0 Hitouts Per Game 0 1.0 Frees For Per Game 0.6 0.4 Frees Against Per Game 0.7 2004 AFL Rising Stars Disposals Per Game Leaders (Minimum 5 Games Played) Rank Player Team Games Average 1 Beau Waters West Coast 10 13.80 2 Sam Butler West Coast 12 13.67 3 Richard Hadley Brisbane 23 13.48 4 Brent Reilly Adelaide 14 13.36 5 Daniel Cross Western Bulldogs 14 13.29 6 Dane Swan Collingwood 13 13.15 7 Brent Moloney Geelong 15 12.67 8 Daniel Gilmore Fremantle 8 12.50 9 Steven Salopek Port Adelaide 11 11.82 10 Adam Cooney Western Bulldogs 19 11.79 11 Jared Rivers Melbourne 22 11.77 2012 79 Daniel Talia Adelaide 23 8.09 Edit:- I had wrong stats listed-now fixed.
  21. 2012 is worthy of mention as it was won by Daniel Talia - the only stat for the year that he won was games played, in many of the top indicators he was not in the top 50. From round 16 onwards there were some handy players, most with season stats better than Talia, Josh Caddy, Brandon Ellis, Adam Treloar, Devon Smith, Sam Blease, Sam Shaw and Chad Wingard. This may reinforce the argument that the winner has already been nominated but it does not make it right. Talia was 79th for disposals averaging 8.09 per game (23 games), Toby Green was nominated round 14 averaging 28.37 disposals per game (18 games) Edit: Last year Hogan managed 13.05 disposals per game (20 games) plus lots of goals - Patrick Cripps 23.55disp per game (20 games) - How did Talia win it? Must be the no D1CKHEADS policy.
  22. No one has won it this late so it is impossible, is that your argument?
  23. Round 9 last year Jesse Hogan, no it's not too late. 2014 round 9 Lewis Taylor. 2013 Jaegar O'Meara round 5. 2012 round 12 Daniel Talia
