  1. Ed Langdon for last years second round pick, get it done!
  2. You do not know the team rules. So if you don't know the team rules how could you know the difference between braking them and an error in all circumstances? You cannot. I have made no claim to knowing team rules, but I can spot an error. Like a missed kick, dropped mark, poor handball these are errors and we all make them. Is punching the ball in a marking contest into the corridor against team rules in defence? Possibly. If you stuff it up that's an error, if you keep doing it probably not.
  3. This reminds me of Nazi Germany and Hitler . Thank you Mr Godwin.
  4. Happy to agree that you don't know the team rules, and that you don't know the difference between making an error and breaking team rules.
  5. Thought it easier to put my answers in red in your post.
  6. You appear to be confusing errors and breaking team rules. All players make errors, some more than others. I don't think berating a player for an error is ok. But breaking team rules is different, and what if May had a quiet word with Frost earlier and he went and broke the same team rule again? I am not talking about a skill error I'm talking about breaking team rules.I think May is doing his job to remind a player if they have broken team rules. Frost didn't want to hear it and May let him know.
  7. Sorry BBO but you have too much class, integrity and dress sense to be a journalist.
  8. There is no doubt that the game is difficult to umpire. I was watching the tennis and I thought that with two players they have eight on court officials & six ball persons, if we extrapolate that to the AFL just for laughs that would be 144 officials and 108 ball people, what could go wrong?
  9. Not the helmet argument again. Helmets can reduce the acceleration rate of the brain at impact. There is no research that says helmets do not reduce the rate of brain injury. There is plenty of research that says helmet do not prevent brain injury. I think a reduction of brain injury is worth wearing a helmet in susceptible people. I repeat, I know helmets do not prevent brain injury any reduction is good.
  10. You were ridiculed for being wrong.
  11. No problem, but players are not picked solely on form. I like Omac and think he will be back. Some selections have me wondering. Preuss should have been playing, I don't care if he only plays 50 min a match, that helps Max and the 2 goals a game is better than Tom has been doing. I am delighted that Tom Mac started to show some form and the Preuss boat may have sailed for the time being, but some selections this year have had be bewildered.
  12. I think it is a very good idea to be comparing players, we can compare similarities and dissimilarities. One can compare apples and oranges. I do not remember Schwartz playing in defence, I remember Neitz playing in defence. Schwartz did kick more that a goal a game in his first 2 seasons so very surprised that he spent much time in defence. Wikipedia says " He played centre half-forward or full-forward " and I can find no record of him playing in defence.
  13. We will know part of the answer on Brownlow night when we look at the votes at round 14. If the vote tally is the same you will have piqued my interest. But I do not think anyone at the AFL would know more than a couple of votes in a couple of games, most would be guesswork as you or I would do. I will put a note in my diary to revisit this September 24th. Any pecuniary win you may donate to the club.
  14. So you mis quote me with.. Please use the whole sentence. What I said was ....."I do not believe for a minute that Weideman is anywhere near the player that Schwartz was but at the same number of games 28 Weideman 0.86 goals per game, Schwartz first 28 games .96 goal per game in an era when more goals were scored generally. It is not a huge difference.".... Now who was that complaining about partial quotes?
  15. Ok you tell me in the year that Schwartz kicked 60 goals (1994) he played 25 games, how old was he when he kicked his 60th goal? Remembering he was born July 24th 1972. Now we are talking a once in a generation player in Schwartz before knee problems. I do not believe for a minute that Weideman is anywhere near the player that Schwartz was but at the same number of games 28 Weideman 0.86 goals per game, Schwartz first 28 games .96 goal per game in an era when more goals were scored generally. It is not a huge difference. You were the one making the point about how good your list of past forwards were compared to Weideman, I am suggesting that we give the kid some time, he could well turn out to be a very good player for us and he is not far behind the stars that you listed. Not clutching straws but living in hope.
  16. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-melbourne-demons--david-schwarz Schwartz born July 24 1972 our season in 1994 ended in September, now by my rough calculation by the time he kicked 60 goals he was 22 and what a superstar he was and could have been.
  17. Sorry but you are wrong. Schwartz kicked 60 goals in 1994 he was born 1972 Can't be bothered going further. Try footywire for stats
  18. Jakovich was 23 for his first game. Schwartz averaged less than a goal a game until he was 22 Lyon averaged 1.1 per game until he was 25 Jurrah first game at 21 career average 2.2 Robertson 1 goal per game until he was 22 and the Wiz was not a tall forward.
  19. I call bulltish!
  20. Go for it. I am pretty sure you won't, I certainly won't.
  21. I hate to admit it but one this occasion I think you are right. There are plenty of examples. Watts first game ( he is the future). Pedersen being left out (he is not the future), Magner being left out (??) Many players get games when there are others showing better form in the VFL. I suppose Lewis will get a game this week, BOG in the VFL or will the FD invest in the future? Preuss has our highest goal per game average and can play in the ruck, Tommy Mac had been in terrible form, who do we play?
  22. Clayton Oliver, come on down!
