  1. i actually am surprised there hasnt been an announcement. they way they seemed to carry him to the 300 game made me think he was gonna pull the pin. but imo its too late now. if he was going to retire, he would've retired. perhaps he was considering it, especially with the sacking of ND, maybe he had a good hard think. however, at this stage i believe he will go around next year. i think next year will be his last, however, if he avoids those collision injuries he could play 22 games and kick 50 goals next year. if he did that, would anyone deny him 2009? old, you make some good points, but i think an announcement would have already been made.
  2. his girlfiend actually denied that there was domestic violence didnt she???
  3. what i dont understand is that a player can get any conditions he wants by saying, at the end of the contract, i dont want to resign i want to go to another club. they can then set the conditions of their contract and go into the psd can they not? or they could be traded the same way aker, judd and messen have been (along with plenty of other) in the past few years. FA will mean that clubs do not get anything in return for players, so while it may be fairer for the players, it goes against the evenness of our competition...
  4. hopefully they then pick up morton in the draft, and let cotchin slip through to us...*excellent*
  5. i'm actually surprised geelong didnt make a play for a wood or like player. that second ruck was obviously the position of contention this season...blake is probably not good enough, king is too old, and they want ottens up forward. i thought geelongs first rounder for wood would have been a decent offer that would have strengthened their team for a few years... im happy they didnt though because we may have got 17 for TJ lol
  6. what makes you think brisbane were going to buckle? were at the trade talks? what is brisbane said '14 is our final offer, if you dont take it now we are going to go and chase 'insert players name' for pick 14 so you'll have lost your chance'. do you really think that these highly paid recruiters would be stupid enough to jump up and say yes to a trade without thinking it through carefully and getting the most for our club?

    TALLS?

i like this post. even if only because you have been a member since 2005, only have 37 posts, but basing those posts on this one it isnt 37 deeply thought football posts, its 37 of 'wtf? are you stupid?' when someone pisses you off haha
  8. if we finish in the bottom half of the 8 next year and get pick, say, 7, and 23. i would be tempted to trade bruce for almost any pick in between there, but hopefully first round. 15 or so id be happy. i would consider trading green also, if the trade was right (but i have been convinced of our need for him and his leadership abilities in the coming years). why i am happy to do this is to build around our current core of 23 and unders. ive said this a few times but i think any team who wants to win a flag needs a complete list. and by that i mean you almost need to draft well every year for 10 years. you need a few players in each age group so that the side flows successfully. since the inception of the draft we havnt had that. the early years of the draft were flawed, but then we had the draft penalties. i believe they are still hurting us. think about 2005 and 2006. if we had of had those top picks we lost around abouts 1999, 2000. those players would have been 23-27. two or three of them. and i think that could have made the difference with depth.
  9. with the psd coming up, and us holding pick3 , we might be interested in trying to suggest players to ehad that way. carlton and richmond would be thinking the same, there is no point in wasting those picks, so it is our job tomorrow to disrupt other potential trades that dont involve us and get some players to the psd!
  10. haha so you did watch the replay of the news...
  11. you heard it first. sylvia can kick goals with his mind...
  12. do you tape 7 and 9 and watch them instead of neighbours?
  13. i can already feel it down below...
  14. you know what...i wouldnt be that upset if we had a poor year next year. yeah i know it will be a bitter pill to swallow, but a couple of extra high draft picks on top of this year and the current crop of kids will make us look good. occo, i think we need to find 8 more players before that team doesnt have any holes in it (for the future). neitz, robbo, white, mcdonald, bruce, wheelan, yze, carrol, are all the odd players out regarding age in that team. we will hopefully get 2 pretty good players this season, and hopefully we can get a player down the other end of the draft. if we get 2-3 next year we will be absolutely laughing in 3 years time...
  15. cj was named as bog a number of times, but in the sandy reports i thought i read that he often just went, and prob didnt deserve bog...i didnt see many games however (just one or two on tv) sio id like to hear from an expert on this matter...
  16. 1. mclean are carol were official not the aggressors in either incident. in both cases they have been announced as the victims in the attacks. 2. do you really want judd? look at where he is going? he obviously was only ever interested in money, and we couldnt offer that too him. let carlton rort the salary cap, or cut other players contracts short to get him. but we need a team not a player. 3.superdraft refers to the depth of the draft, not the quality of the top picks. 14 is a high pick and is a pick with a high chance of landing a top class player. TJ was never going to be a part of our next premiership challenge and thus was deemed expendable for an appropriate price. 4. we would've traded miller for a decent trade. obviously sydney didnt want to offer anything decent. CAC and bailey would be weighing up the offer. if sydney offered a mid second round pick, we would consider who we believe to be available at that point...if that player doesnt offer as much as what they believe miller would offer the trade doesnt go ahead. TJ was expendable because he was 28. miller has youth on his side. 5. we want to keep psd pick3 because a player could come through the traps here. every year this option is a chance and this year is no exception. instead of ruling ourselves out now we can trade a lowly pick to ensure we get who we want. as you pointed out earlier, if we believe miller is worth more than the lowly pick, and we rate meesen, wouldnt we feel like we have come out on top in this trade?
  17. good point. bell was given a solid run too, whereas cj has been picked then dropped repeatedly. my problem is that he has rarely dominated at vfl level like i would like him too... hey, give him a new coach and he could turn around. we know he is a lovely kick and that is a very sought after skill...
  18. in trade week? that could have been awkward...
  19. well of those first three, 1 wanted to go home so we didnt have a choice (dunno why you mentioned him actually...) and the other two in hindsight were fantastic decisions for the footy club. based on that logic, there is a 100% chance we made the right decision! thanks for instilling me with confidence brownlow bruce!
  20. no i will be excited for him and the club. i had high hopes for him but there have been a few issues. his kicknig hasnt developed. it should have. his game hasnt developed. it should have. he has no confidence and is a liability on the field these days. if he continues like he is going we should trade him and run, if we can get more out of him we keep him he could be valuable. if bailey wants to keep him good on him. and good luck to miller. hopefully he can become the player we thought he could be.
  21. when ND came in to the club it was a breath of fresh air, and we subsequently had reasonable success. the last 3 years however have seen the club become a bit stagnant. how many times could players like ward and godfrey have been delisted? they were never going to win us a flag. the club needed fresh air, and bailey has delivered it. whether he will deliver a flag is yet to be seen, but you cannot fault what he has done so far...
  22. i hold hannabal and his views in the highest regard on this site, as do many others. your first post makes me think maybe you have not spent much time reading all the discussion on this site about trading trapper. maybe if you take the time to you will realise that there are more important things going on in the mfc. greater things than a match winner for next year. the club is changing. we are entering a new era. trav wouldnt have been part of that era, he has now helped us move into that era with an extra draft pick. for the good of the club, trav is gone.
  23. good luck trav, thanks for the memories and the excitment. when you had the ball i knew anything could happen. hopefully whoever takes the number 16 will fill your shoes because i still have your number on my back, however im sure they wont have the skill that you do. good luck with the rest of your career, i hope this trade gives you as many opportunities as it gives us.
  24. i heard he just needs another preseason in the gym and he'll bulk up...
  25. interesting ash. i have heard whispers that he really didnt want to go to adelaide in the first place. the 1 year deal might have been to ensure he could come home when he wanted, but it doesnt sound like his hearts in the right place...
