he has won one best and fairest, and had one top four finish. the rest of his career he has been no where near the required consistancy. that is like saying the reason we shouldnt trade miller is 'because he is a proven finals performer'. have you thought that the recruiting dept would have looked at every option and then pursued the best one? or do you think they just grabbed the first one that came up and neglected to consider other options? what do you think they are payed for? they are not freakin supermarket managers... cameron wood has 10 years i him. he is promising ruckman. that is worth more than TJ who has 3 years in him, yet unfortunately is still just a promising midfielder...

fair post, but i am looking at it like this. johnstone has 3 years left in him. ok he might get a couple more, but he will be on the way out. any player we pick up have a potential 10 extra years with us than TJ does (18 yo compared to 28yo). yes there is a chance this player will be a dud. but there is also only a chance that tj would rip it up next year. given that our window isnt in the next 2-3 years (when we could get the most out of trapper), the decision to select an 18 yo who would join the current under 23 brigade in our question to win a flag makes a lot of sense. we are setting ourselves up for a decade of success, not for short term success. while i would love pick 8, i'll take 14 if thats all we can get...

amen. he will be a very very damaging player on the wing if left their permanently. it doesn matter if brad miller plays CHF, cos if wheatley gets the pill he will kick it past miller to whoevers at FF

im not sure if he actually coached him at mt gravatt (i think miller would've been only 16 when bailey was coaching the seniors) but he would have been well aware of him, and im pretty sure miller was playing senior footy as a kid so you never know...

correct about his kicking, as i have stated here before. and i agree regarding the improvement in his marking. it is hard to judge him on this year considering how poorly the team played, but i think if the midfield steps up we could see him take quite a few more marks up forward...

if i was josh kennedy i would be saying, i will only agree to the trade if i get paid an extra 100k per year, or something extravagant. he doesnt have to go, if he doesnt want to go, he should get whatever he wants out of it. make it worthwhile for himself...

where did he go to school? i heard the story a while back from an mfc supporter friend who said he went to school with him. he came from down frankston way, there is a good chance i got the school wrong. but as i mentioned it was just a story i was told. is pretty funny tho...lol

it wont bother my if he carves it up actually. he hasnt fulfilled his potential, and as a player i like, i wouldn't mind seeing him prosper in a new environment. i dont believe he will fire for us next year. if we want to win a flag we need some high draft choices. if we get them it will be a win for all clubs. i will be more disappointed if we see yet another high draft pick wasted on a player that doesnt make it...

id happily take either. i think id prefer the sydney one because 11 is a better pick than 15. i dont know much about the draft, are we just as likely to get a good player at 15 as we are at 11? if yes then go for it. and get the kid too...

so travis johnstone will get us pick 11 from sydney and pick 15 and ben mckinley from WC, and then what? he plays for WC one week and sydney the next? where does he train? and what happens if it is another sydney v WC grand final? do they flip a coin to see who gets him in the first half?

i think we spoke to him and offered him a contract. he said sounds great, told adelaide he wants to go to the mfc. since that is public no one else has really bothered to chase him...
