  1. Nah its his nads. Just joking. Its a shame he isn't in the squad. I am hoping he has a great year this season. Some good mature recruits and return of Hogan from injury will be good for him.
  2. been saying it for some time. Michie will probably be playing in defence, HBF this season.
  3. Did his manager know. He never told Carlton or Melbourne so why would he have told Pickering. Pickering seems to be a pretty switched on manager. My guess is that he has kept it secret from all. In addition he is an adult and should take responsibility for his own actions. Twice the limit and suspended license as well.
  4. I sort of agree. Any member of the public facing similar charges would not have his employer involved. I don't think its dishonest of him not telling the club. I would hardly be telling my employer (if I had one) about it, particularly if it happened when I was working for someone else. Having said that doesn't the club do police checks? Drink driving might seem trivial to most but I am sure that anyone who has had a relative or friend hurt or killed by a drunk driver may not see it that way. If I had any say I think I would put him on a first and final warning over his behavior and leave it at that.
  5. Michie? He was given very little opportunity after breaking his jaw. His last 4 games last year saw him rated in the best 5. I thought he was stiff to be dropped after the Weagles belting in round two when two blokes with a combined career of 4 games seemed to be held solely responsible for the shellacking as they were the only ones dropped. In that game he had his eyelid split in the first minute and played the game out without one of his contacts in and 4 stitches. Did not surface again last 4 games where he acquitted himself very well, thought his North game was terrific when he blanketed Norths eventual B&F winner. I think he will be a starter in the first game. Shows he can get the pill and more importantly is very effective/efficient with it at around 85%. He just is not a flashy player but more one of the foot soldiers that every team needs. He is barely noticed but accumulates possessions which usually result in another down the line to one of the others in the team. There seems to be little love for Viv on this site which confuses me given little can be pointed at him in regard to failures.
  6. My nephew had the full reco on his knee and did his hammy whilst lying in bed reaching for the remote. His doctor said its not uncommon for slight hammy strains early on in the recovery. His Dr is the Magpies physiotherapist.
  7. I agree with you on Michie. He finished last season very well. He is just a quiet no nonsense player that goes about his job with little fuss. As Saty notes he is a man of very few words which is why I think he flies under the radar. Reading through the Maroochy reports I don't think he was mentioned twice by the DL reporters. I am expecting him to have a very good year this year and I reckon it will be of the HBF.
  8. Viv is a very private person and very self conscious when talking about his footy. But he isn't rude and would just brush it off. Good kid and from what I know has no injury issues.
  9. I reckon he will be played in a defense role for the very reasons you suggest. He can get the ball and is extremely reliable in his disposal. His last game against Nth Melb last year showed his potential when he shut down Cunnington who went on to win the Roos B&F. Viv could surprise a few this season.
  10. Lamumba (sorry if that is wrong) was at Vic Park at 1.30ish Xmas Eve doing half lap sprints half lap jogs for about 90 minutes all of which were being timed by a young lady who was more a drill sergeant. Chided him a few times for the times he was osting. Wore me and the other under employed old fogies out just watching him. Looked pretty good though.
  11. I think Viv will be played of the half back flank. Good ball getter with very good foot and hand skills. Quick thinker and sound under pressure. Particularly liked his games against Hawthorn on Lewis for the second half in a negating role. Lewis was B.O.G but I thought Viv curbed him. Against North he kept Cunnington to 16 touches for the game which was a terrific effort. May rotate thru the middle but my guess is he is going to be a defender.
  12. Needs to be the first (second?) Saturday in October next year because of the delayed start. Some cricket thing is happening.
  13. And dined out on that one performance for the rest of the year. I reckon he is over rated but that is just my opinion. I would like to see him play a few complete games to get a better idea of him Same with Salem who kicked a winning goal after the siren and instantly became a star. He had some pretty ordinary games along the way but kept his spot. I do think he will become a good footballer but at the moment is being rated well above his general performance.
  14. From the AFL website They "picked" the best 22 for each club. This is Ryan's view of Melbourne's Melbourne B: Neville Jetta, Lynden Dunn, Colin Garland HB: Heritier Lumumba, Tom McDonald, Jack Watts C: Jack Viney, Bernie Vince, Daniel Cross HF: Jeremy Howe, Cameron Pedersen, Dean Kent F: Christian Salem, Jesse Hogan, Jeff Garlett R: Mark Jamar, Nathan Jones, Dom Tyson I/C: Jack Grimes, Viv Michie, Sam Frost Sub: Angus Brayshaw New: Heritier Lumumba (Collingwood), Jeff Garlett (Carlton), Sam Frost (Greater Western Sydney), Angus Brayshaw (No.3 draft pick) Unavailable: Chris Dawes (suspended), Jack Trengove (navicular injury) Comment: Max Gawn is most unlucky to miss the best 22, but he will be ready to pounce if Mark Jamar's form drops. We've preferred Angus Brayshaw to Christian Petracca on nothing more than the fact he looks slightly more prepared to play at this stage. That could change by round one. Viv Michie gets a spot based on excellent form in the last month of the season but there is little doubt you could toss a coin and replace him with Rohan Bail, Aidan Riley, Ben Newton, Jordie McKenzie or Jay Kennedy-Harris. Melbourne's midfield depth has increased although its win tally remained small last year, and the club appears over-reliant on a 19-year-old key forward by the name of Jesse Hogan, who is yet to play a game. - Peter Ryan
  15. I reckon he will be in the starting line up for round one, playing of the half back flank. He has great disposal and his blanketing of Cunningham lat last season (10 touches) is an example of what he is capable of. You are right he rarely gets a mention in training notes. He is a very quiet bloke and probably does not standout like the others but I rate him ahead of a few of the other fan faves.
  16. If he recovers? Its not that uncommon. James Hird had the same injury, did not bother him once healed. Viv Michie did his twice at the Dockers. Apparently its a result of over working and stress on the bone. He sat on a gym bench and bulked up. Fun fact the Roman Soldiers were very prone to this injury. Once their weapons and gear was reduced to 60 ponds the problem disappeared. Even today the military restrict soldiers packs and equipment to 60lbs. I forget the guys name but a player at Geelong never played again.
  17. Its only the young uns that are free training this week and we oldies are celebrating?
  18. 12 year olds? You must be getting 2nd round interviews. hate the way they ask your DOB and then say that they don't care about age. Utter BS. They are scared that you will (and do) know more than them, especially if you have been working longer than they have been alive. Apparently I am too experienced and would not stay even if they gave me the job. Good luck with the job search.
  19. He could stay in house. Viv Michie did his Navicular in his first year at Freo and re injured the foot in the second year. Long time out and in a boot but he came back. Won a B&F at Peel playing just 16 games. He will be a big influence next season if given a chance.
  20. Only One?????
  21. I have been lucky in that I have been in the rooms at MFC. I can say that the players feel everything supporters do when they lose. And they have been out there playing and getting crunched. Me I get hot dogs.
  22. More a lurker. But I mean it I love the passion on this forum. Just stop squabbling with each other. I have 5 older sisters and sometimes this site has been like when they all used to sync up. You are all behind the MFC and thats a good thing.
  23. Cross? So I know how you blokes feel I have had a membership there for over 35 years but gave up watching them a few years back. Taking an interest in MFC this year has actually been cathartic. Must admit I have watched more Casey games than AFL games.
  24. I have a little black book for that.
