  1. Michie has only played 3 games as well. Both have potential. I thought both were a little over awed considering the opponents they were playing on. Great football lessons for them and a feww more games should see a substantial improvement in their confidence levels.
  2. I reckon Bontimpelli is a better chance.
  3. No. Whilst he's been in the system for 3 or 4 years his pres. with MFC was his first complete one. Serious foot injuries at Freo stopped him from full pres.
  4. Seemed like Roos was giving him lessons today. Ran with Hodge, Lewis in the whole last quarter and Langford.
  5. I am going. Looking forward to see how they travel after last week. The Hawks touched us up in a pre-season practice match as I recall but we were competitive. Will be interesting to see how much has changed. The Hawks may be impacted by the expected rain but given our poor skills last week we will probably be worse effected.
  6. Agree why give her further oxygen.
  7. Jayden Pitt is a very harsh call. He has a heart condition that means that he cannot play. Hardly in the same boat as the others who have had plenty of opportunities.
  8. If I was not a techno dinosaur I would copy the link. Report on the MFC website is positive. James Strauss: Straussy had 19 disposals, two tackles, one missed tackle, zero fumbles and he played across half-back. Although he didn’t win as much of the ball as he has in the previous month – he had 19 disposals – we felt he had a solid impact on the game. He breaks the lines with his run and carry and again showed plenty of dash. He has a great kick and he has been really damaging in this area in the past month. Still, Straussy will need to tidy up his defensive game, as he can still trail in through a lack of concentration at times. Viv Michie: Viv had 26 disposals, two tackles, zero missed tackles and zero fumbles. He played inside mid and half-forward. Viv had a terrific game this week. He won a lot of the ball and linked up really well with Maxy Gawn’s dominance in the ruck. His ability to win the ball around the contest really stood out and he’s worked really hard to tidy up his defensive transition, which has definitely improved. Viv had eight inside 50s, which is another really pleasing aspect of his game, as we’re getting a lot of advantage from him in this area.
  9. I would support these changes but what I don't want to see is the low game players being blamed and dropped when we get pumped. After the Eagles game the two players dropped were Toumpas (14 (?) career games and Michie (2.5 career games). We got smashed by 90 odd points and these two were dumped indicating they were the most responsible for the loss.
  10. Corky by the looks
  11. Mitchie in. We have this. Highest score for the month.
  12. This question reminds me of the time Bob Woolmer, coach of the Pakistan Cricket team at the time, was asked would they win the next round of their world cup match. He said it "depends on which (Pakistan) team turns up".
  13. Is there open training tomorrow or Friday. Now that I am a man of leisure I thought I might take in a training session. Never been to one in all my years.
  14. Don't know where you get that I am shocked that I have a differing opinion to that of the reviewers, they would know what the roles were for each player. I was merely saying that the "defense" failures are trotted out often with no real definition and absolutely no recognition that the Casey team is particularly adept at turning the ball over which more often than not is anticipated by the opposition who have transitioned into offence when the Casey players do indeed turn it over. Also happens in the seniors Don,t know any players so i really do not understand your point about complaining and or making excuses. I certainly did not infer that in my post. I actually find Brad Millers reviews far more informative than Brett Alison's. I think you will find I have been just as critical in the past and after the Box Hill Game thought no one from Casey should have been promoted. Also the Ballarat game. I just happen to think that the reviews are tailored to the selection. But that is my opinion based on what I have seen live at the game.
  15. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-07-15/vfl-player-review-round-14 Hope this works. I am a techosaurus. Interesting read. Doubt JKH is in the mix but Strauss, Blease and Michie might be.
  16. I would take it if it was MFC.
  17. IDK why JKH is being promoted as a possible replacement. He was hardly influential at Bendigo despite the possession count. Did a few nice things but went missing in the last quarter. I think he needs to bulk up a bit to be able to use his talents at AFL level. I have a theory about the Casey reports. I reckon they are written after they decide who will be selected. I watch the reserves live and MFC on the Telly. The writers would have a field day with the AFL guys if they applied the same KPIs and to be honest I don't see that much of a difference. Having said that the TV does not give the same perspective as watching the game live and I do like to be above the ground level. Before you ask I prefer the two because the current AFL game is little better than Rugby Union which is the equivalent to me of watching an under 12s game of footy. Everybody at the ball. I have another view on the "defensive" comments in the Casey games. The MFC/Casey guys get the ball forward but its turned over so many times that the opposition clearly anticipate and set up away from the contest so that the Casey guys are often out of position through poor up field work. Alison wasn't at Bendigo so the read will be interesting this week. For what its worth I think Blease must be given a shot this week, he has been very consistent.
  18. You are probably correct. But to me this total fixation on defense is a flaw in the PR plan. This to me is why we do not score . Everyone is in such a defensive mindset that there is no positive thoughts. You can see it in the slow reactions, second thoughts. No one is taking a risk. The season is gone so why not switch them over to attacking. Look at the Bulldogs. Their plan had 22 "cracking in" to use McCartneys words. Consequently no outlets. They were getting heaps of the ball but turning over almost every time. Now they seem to be looking for a more balanced plan with some on the outside to get the second possession. Less turnovers, a bit of run and open spaces.
  19. Totally biased but yes. Got heavy knock today, off for a quarter and came back on. This is his 3rd head injury this year which shows he has guts and puts his head over the ball all the time. Could not do any worse than the rabble today by all accounts.
  20. Played the game out and kicked a goal in the 3rd
  21. Michie hit in the head and having concussion tests.
  22. Watching last nights game. How good was it to see two teams attacking, playing open style footy and scoring. I reckon we will restrict Geelong to about 10 goals, but they will win by 5. I am going to Bendigo to watch Casey, hopefully win. Just don't like the style of footy, although I realise that we need to play the ugly Roos brand at the moment. Hope Tappy has a good one.
  23. He has only had one quality game since he went back. Looks like his is very annoyed at being in the two's.
  24. I am predicting all 23 will be defending and no goals scored. Will be interesting to travel back to Bendigo. Went to Boarding School up there in the early 70's and played in two premierships at the QE oval. Actually snowed in 72. Hope the weather has improved.
