  1. Are these the thoughts of a bitter Essendon supporter? Everyone was predicting the Roos to finish bottom once Thompson and Wells got injured at the start of the season. Give them credit for finishing in the top 4. And I'd reserve your comments until after this weekend. During my life time, North Melbourne premierships 4 Melbourne 0. Whatever spirit they have, I wish Melbourne had a case of it.
  2. Totally agree with your sentiments regarding those delisted. Daniher had a fixation with keeping unskilled tryhards at the club. Add Luke Williams to the list. However, I actually think that Ferguson has something to offer. Firstly, he was offered up for trade, then got injured the following season before he had the chance to redeem himself. Also, he's the only player I've heard Daniher outwardly criticise in the media. It was after the game where we beat the Cats at Skilled Stadium. Under a new coach, I think he can shine, because he has got ability.
  3. Absolute garbage. Godfrey struggles to be a good player at VFL level. No football brain or skill. Plus every 'shut down' player in the modern game needs to be able to hurt the opposition when you have the ball, ie; K. Cornes, Ling, Sewell, Stenglein. With Godfrey at the centre bounces, we were playing 3 against 4.
  4. What category does Godfrey fall under, contracted or specific role/depth? And why did Warnock get promoted to our senior list last year, which guaranteed him a 2 year contract? CC is a very good recruiter, but his list management skills leave a lot to be desired.
  5. The trifecta paid $1.10. Congratulations!!!!!
  6. Chris Judd had a suspect shoulder prior to the draft, which is why he went at no.3. The rest is history.........
  7. I'm yet to be convinced that Frawley, Rivers or Carroll are capable of shutting down the elite forwards such as Brown, Reiwoldt, Hall and Pavlich. We couldn't even shut down a young Tom Hawkins.
  8. I read Maurie's post differently. Motlop and Pickett had poor work ethics on the training track, hence looked overweight, as does Sampi. No mention of their race. I'd leave Sampi alone.
  9. Here lies the problem with AFL clubs during trade week. Instead of trying to improve your list, we're more concerned about what the resident player might do at his new club. Trading Moloney for Tippett, Maric or Griffin would benefit the club. Some may argue that you're trading an established player for an unknown quantity, well all draftees are are an unknown quantity. We desperately need to trade for a young ruckman.
  10. Unless J Brown is on the market, there are not too many players who fit this criteria. In the modern game, pack marks are a rarity. Key forwards are the least of our problems at the moment. Ruckmen, key backmen and creative running backmen are our priorities imho.
  11. Interesting that list management is part of Connolly's brief. Wasn't Craig Cameron in charge this year?
  12. So you want to trade 2 outside mids and a ruckman for a slow in-and-under mid and a ff? Jones, McLean and possibly Bartram already fit the Haselby mould, and we already have Neitz, Robertson and Newton as potential full forwards.
  13. No. We have Jones and McLean, and what do we offer as trade?
  14. Totally unbalanced team. Not enough run from the backline or defensive pressure from the forwards.
  15. So what you're saying Goodvibes is that Neville doesn't have the right profile to be part of the magnificent seven at Melbourne, and if we kept him on our list, he would simply train in vain.
  16. We can't go into next season with the same ruck stocks. White will probably be playing his last season, and Jamar and Johnson aren't up to it. We need to take a risk on Wood, who's yet to reach the maturing age of a ruckman.
  17. I disagree. We could may 9 changes, and improve our performances. In addition to the 3 retirees, would could easily delist another 5 without greatly impacting on the quality of our list. The 5 being Godfrey, Neville, Ward, Holland, Miller. I haven't seen Neville play, but the others don't have the football brain or talent to be a good AFL player. Also, we seriously need to trade for a young ruckman such as Wood. This may involve swapping draft choices and players. I'll throw this one up. Sylvia for Wood.
  18. Surely Godfrey has to be axed.
  19. A warm can of West End would be a fair trade for YM.........
  20. Just as Malcolm Blight and Dennis Pagan achieved greatness at St.Kilda and Carlton respectively. Visionary appointment imho.
  21. You lost me after your first line. Today Tonight and journalism should never be used in the same paragraph......
  22. There'll be an enormous backlash if Connolly's appointed. He was Schwab's assistant at Hawthorn, and Lyon's good mate.
  23. You can't just blame the midfield. How much feed do we get from our backline? Ward and Brown are the only backmen who run the lines, but their disposal skills are woeful. Maybe Daniher's tempo football was inappropriate for our list, which doesn't have an attacking backline like Sydney, or a gamebreaking midfield like WCE.
  24. I was one who questioned the wisdom of drafting Frawley at pick 12, not due to his kicking ability, but due to his height and physique. At the start of the year, we had an abundance of "small talls", none of whom are capable of holding down FB or CHB, when opposed to the elite key forwards. The list is as follows: Carroll Rivers Bizzell Ferguson Warnock Wheatley When you include Holland and Miller, who have the physique but not the ability, I questioned the value of Frawley, as I saw him as another "small tall'. My question mark on him still remains.
  25. It was mentioned on SEN late last night that our alliance with Sandy has become strained. Apparently Melbourne want some players who are carrying injuries, to go under the knife early, rather than play for Sandy during the finals. Barry from Beach Road may be able to confirm if true.
