  1. Would not be surprised with this deal. We'll use pick 43, which is the Saints 3rd pick, as a trade for Meesen. I've thought all along that CAC would get involved in a trade for a lower 3rd pick, as he stated that we'd offer Adelaide a 3rd round pick, but sees 37 as too high. Redleg will be spewing.
  2. Reported in today's Age that Sean Wellman may be joining our coaching panel. You'd assume that the make up would look like this: Bailey - Senior coach Wellman - Backline Williams - Midfield Mahoney - Forward Line
  3. It's being reported that TJ arrives back from Thailand today, and has a meeting with Bailey to discuss his future. Geez he'll be a tired boy if he's stopping over in Brisbane to meet the Lions. Personally, i'd be staggered if Matthews is interested in him given his age and style of play, and even more staggered if they gave up pick 11.
  4. Totally agree with 'the idea of trading was to improve your list'. Neither Bolton or Playfair will do that for us. BTW, didn't Barry Norsworthy poll a surprising number of Brownlow votes one year?
  5. Exactly. There's many Swans supporters that'll be happy to see him go. He suffers from Woewodin's disease in that he goes to ground too easily, and is too slow. In addition, his disposal is haphazard. Don't touch him!!!!!!
  6. No question of his talent, but our midfield stocks are already injury riddled. It's not a punt worth taking....
  7. Ash, have the Bombers ever played him in the ruck? He played as a ruckman in the Teal Cup, though he was playing as a wingman for his WAFL club. And is he under contract? Personally, if he's out of contract, i'd take him in the psd, and develop him as a ruckman. He's mobile, and has a better skill base than either Jamar or Johnson.
  8. After 2 knee recos, NO!
  9. Bruce, does he hold more currency on the trade market than CJ?
  10. For Redlegs information, here is McKinley's stats in his last 4 WAFL games: Goals Behinds Kicks Marks Handballs Peel Thunder 7 2 11 9 1 East Perth Claremont 4 3 8 6 2 Swan Districts 8 7 19 13 3 South Fremantle 2 3 7 2 2 How does that stack up against anything that CJ has done at VFL level?
  11. Firstly, CJ was taken under father/son, and was not a high pick as stated. It's just my opinion, but I believe that any player that has been in the system as long as CJ, for so few senior games, would be perceived by other clubs as 'damaged goods'. If he couldn't get a regular game this season with all the injuries we had, i'd suggest that his trade value is minimal. I've yet to see McKinley play, but he was able to break into a far more talented WC side this season.
  12. It was mentioned in today's HS that we're interested in Ben McKinley from West Coast. I'd offer this as a trade: Ben McKinley + WC 3rd round draft choice (46?) to Melbourne for Chris Johnson + Melbourne's 3rd round pick 37. We on-trade pick 46 to Adelaide for John Meesen. Interestingly, it was also mentioned in another article that CJ is out of contract. CAC did mention that we'd trade a 3rd round pick to Adelaide for Meesen, or pick him up in the PSD. However, he didn't mention the no. of the 3rd round pick. If we could get this deal done, we'd still have the PSD pick available for a high profile uncontracted player.

    3 strikes

My mail is that it's definitely 3 strikes, and the substance in question can also be bought in a red, silver or black can. The issue now is whether the 3rd strike was on match day.
  14. As previously stated, you need 4 ruckmen on your list. We'd be playing with fire if we delisted Jamar, and relied on either Meeson or a rookie ruckman to fill the void if White or Johnson were injured. Also, the trade value of ruckmen can rise dramatically with 1 average/good year, hence they become appealing trade bait. Adelaide and Pt. Adelaide have been stockpiling and trading ruckmen to good effect.
  15. "required player " is my definition of football politics. Given that he's uncontracted, if CAC stated that he's on the market, the player feels unloved, and could put himself in the PSD. MFC get nothing for him. TJ on the otherhand is contracted, hence no problem in saying that he's on the table.
  16. Give me some examples? I'll give you some examples of forwards in underage football who become top class backmen in the AFL: Leppitch, Scarlett, G.Jakovich, Fletcher, Martyn, Grant, Rutten, and that's just off the top of my head.....
  17. Draft best available player, and trade for needs. I don't get excited about KP backman who dominate at under 18 level. If they're that talented, they'd be a forward. Case in point, Lachlan Hansen at the Roos.
  18. Victory are not part of 'Team Melbourne'. They believe that it will dilute their brand. The MFC have been sitting on their hands whilst Collingwood set up the Lexus centre across the road. No-one to blame but ourselves.
  19. The article doesn't mention the 'luck' factor. We would kill to have G.Ablett, N.Ablett, Scarlett and Blake as father/sons.
  20. Well said Fan. I can't recall Wayne Jackson or Ross Oakley providing compensation to us, the bulldogs or the roos for a heavily fixed draw.
  21. Absolutley! There were games early on in the season where our desire to work hard was questionable. Token efforts in chasing, tackling and running to a contest. This has got nothing to do with talent. It's a mindset..........
  22. I'm more excited about getting Meeson than Jolly. They didn't actually name Jolly, just a GF player from the Swans.
  23. Thirdly, if we are to acquire Judd, we need to free up room in our salary cap for not only Judd, but our emerging young talent. It would make more sense to trade Johnstone and Robertson ahead of any developing players.
  24. Sorry to disappoint you, but we won't get pick 5 for Robbo. Can somebody explain to me why they think Frawley will be a champion key defender? I know he's young, but I need convincing..........
  25. You are worshipping a false God. Joe Strummer is GOD!!!!!! Now Juddy has already decided 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go'. I'm hoping he decides to go 'Straight To Hell'.
