  1. Bailey never drops players after one game, let alone one good game.
  2. Great work Whispering Jack. I walked past Spencer at the end of the game and the kid is immense, noticeably taller than Jamar, who I had run into earlier buying a hot dog. No, I didn't run into J-Meese as well. I thought McLean was average today. On the other hand, I thought Bruce was utterly fantastic.
  3. Cheney and Whelan keep their spots, obviously. We need Rivers back in. I assume Moloney is fine, he's a tough bastard. Sooooo . . . it comes back to Mr Fixit. OUT: Dumm IN: Rivers If Green, Bennell want to come back in well they can't, who do we drop? Possibly Petterd for Green.
  4. If you hardly noticed Warnock than you should open your eyes because he was great and he's been great all year.
  5. I thought of Freak when he kicked into the man on the mark. Lovely kick on the run.
  6. We already have Butcher in our team! Brock 'Butcher' McLean Thought Dunn, Bartram, Petterd were poor. Next level up Robbo wasn't great. Strong team effort though.
  7. Boo'd my heart out. The free kick for holding Sylvia didn't get was absolutely atrocious.

  9. He wasn't available in the National Draft.

  11. I thought Cheney and Whelan would be in. Good week to go short. Valenti a lacklustre but understandable inclusion. Good luck to the fire hydrant. Jamie Bennell more than earnt his rest.
  12. Love the enthusiasm! I had 2010 in mind. And make no mistake he has to deliver 2 high picks this year. The competition is going to get a lot harder, with funds sucking the cash out of the AFL for WS and GC, Collingwood lurching and all the interstate teams down, there'll be no money to bail us out, it doesn't matter how young our list is. We will be in the firing line. Many supporters are buoyed by the increased effort, smaller losing margins, youth, emerging plan, backline reconstruction, major sponsor signings, stable administration, really, there's a bloody lot to like. I'm obviously one of these supporters. But we have to win premierships and Dean Bailey won't get a tick from me until he navigates the (admittedly very tricky) next 6 months. He has to get 1 & 2 whilst getting improvement from the list and looking better on field. It's Bailey's Paradox. I must say, so far he is doing this exceptionally well and there is zero reason to doubt him. Interesting times ahead.
  13. St Kilda and Collingwood back MCG blockbuster Damian Barrett needs to work on his headlines. Not often a journo makes a mistake on the fourth word of the article.
  14. Good post but I certainly hope the club will not give him a contract extension until he has delivered something tangible.
  15. Spot on as usual Hannabal.
  16. Watts + Newton/Butcher inside 50 grants Robbo a 'lesser' opponent where he is free to have more impact. He played against Glass on the weekend.
  17. Why elevate Valenti? Blimey, he's not that great. We'll need 5 or 6 spots I imagine. Pre-Season #1 + 1, 2, 18 odd, 34 odd, 50 odd, rookie elevation for Jordy or Spencer, I didn't even try and that's about 7-8 spots we need. Gotta be ruthless. Junior Whelan Wheatley Jamar (who has never once played as well as PJ did last week) Buckley Bell & Dunn, as others have said, need to be jettisoned any way possible. Absolute spuds like Bate and Newton are lucky to be out the firing line. . . . but yep, very interesting choices to be made at the end of the year. Obviously not every youngster on our list will be special so they must diagnose. Cheney/McNamara etc.
  18. Thank god Jared is alright.
  19. Rnd 11 Queens Birthday we'll be 1-9, we'll worry from there.
  20. Thankfully, Richmond will boot Wallace, and play better under their caretaker coach, who will get Cotchin back in. So I'm still confident they'll finish above us.

Flash is at 86% and by far the highest in the league. EDIT: As the poster above me already said.
  22. He's never set the world on fire, and [am being harsh on Bate]. I censored myself, I do the old "Can you see this player in a premiership side?" and like his classmate Lynden, I can't.
  23. Melbourne lost it's FF focal point and drafted poorly from 2001-(you decide), and the one gun we drafted went back to Adelaide. But great post and I agree with it.
  24. I miss 2003 when Big Al Nicholson would bomb it 55m to an opposition player time and time again. Oh wait, no I don't.
  25. Not good enough below his knees for an inside midfielder, too slow (with feet and decisions) for an outside midfielder. We can shift his focus to Casey. I could make a list of slow-ish midfielders and their attributes compared to M. Bate but I think he is a magoos player. When people talk about Bate playing in form, his form is 16 possessions and 1-2 goals, I don't think that's enough for a guy with so many years in the system.
