I'd use McNamara's and Bail's debuts as list management devices later in the year.

I was really happy with our running yesterday. The Bulldog forward line ain't much (Welsh in particular! although he carves us up occasionally) but as everyone knows, it's Cooney, Cross, Aker, Gilbee who come forward and kick their goals (Gilbee albeit deceptively and not often). They are quick and they are well drilled, and we are in good stead if we an continue to have Moloney doing well in the clearances, passing it off to Davey/Jones/Morton/Sylvia in the midfield. However, we will get smashed in the midfield. We are not polished or consistent enough and the rucks of the Bulldogs are very underrated (Minson and Hudson). We also have passengers in the midfield in McDonald and McLean, and unfortunately they will not be dropped, and this will add to the problem. Worse still, is that we don't actually have midfielders who can fill their spots. We have lost two important backline players, and although they are not perfect fits, Cheney and or/Whelan will come in and Martin will go back and stay out of the ruck/floating role. Luckily we're playing the small Bulldogs. Our backline was good at the start of yesterday match, and it remains above average. It will hold up if our midfield breaks even, but I don't think our midfield will. Our forward line looks much better with Robbo in it. He typically plays well against the Bulldogs. Miller is playing very well and works harder than anyone else. Maric looks good too. Unfortunately, as you can see from the Round 7 Squad, we have three forwards. Martin, Morton, Dunn and Bate were all in the forward 6; none played forward or troubled the scorers. We need another forward in. Guys I would like dropped but we can't: Bate, McLean, McDonald (latter two for a rest) Changes For Round 8: Out: Frawley (inj,), Rivers (inj.), Dunn In: Cheney, Whelan, Jetta

Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments

Steve Johnson looked crap in a poor Geelong side and look at him now. Sylvia is nowhere near the player SJ is, right now or in the future, but if we're going to persevere with eternal chumps like Bate, Dunn and [injunction on these players] then I am happy to persevere with Colon Slivier and would like to see him in a better more mature MFC unit. I still really don't know where he is supposed to be played, he sucks as a HFF, his best work seems to come on the Half back in the corridor. -
No surprise that the hard tag on Davey as our #1 mid released Jones to play his best game ever. Replace McDonald and McLean with Blease and Scully and the midfield will be finally where we need it to be.

You coach U9s? Those poor kids! -
Who the hell was saying that?!? Eagles were going to pick him at #36 last year and were [censored] when we did. It was fun parading him around in front of them.

6. Jones 5. Davey 4. Morton 3. Miller 2. Bennell 1. PJ Bartram, Maric, Warnock stiff.

I'm beginning to feel like Bruce and McLean have injunctions on them. McLean called for the ball in the forward line a couple of times then didn't present, he couldn't chase down Josh Kennedy, I thought he was poor, but YMMV. -

I thought Pick No 5 was worse than Pick No 3 today. -
Because waiting at the back of the pack and the ball falling into your arms is a strong goal. Hunter's mistake blocking Glass' spoil. Well done to Petterd but too little too late. I don't accept the mediocrity that you do DD.

2 guys off injured + heaps of running + young legs = spirited loss. Great effort guys, sad we were so cruelled by injury early. We look great when we're up and going. On another note; When is Petterd going to stop getting a free ride. Has about the same output as Isaac Weetra. Does nothing week after week, compare him to Maric or Bennel, he just is not natural at finding the footy.

Warnock also criminally underrated.

I think Bruce has run out of 'bank credits', he is a liability. He is a damaging player, he damages us. Don't want to turn it into a Bruce bash though, he is great lalala *fingers in ears*

Jones and Davey are our best players by so far it ain't funny . . .
-
This is the crux of the matter. We're irrelevant because we've had 1 or 2 serious tilts at the flag in 45 years, and this future team will offer us a better shot at the flag than the majority of teams. I also think people are too worried about winning 5 games. The fact that we don't have a forward line will guarantee we struggle in every single outing, and I can't see us winning 5 with Miller, Bate, Sylvia, Robertson as our main goal kickers, plus all the B players coming in and out (Newton, Wonna, Jetta)

Maybe instead of a yellow number we give the captain a jetpack. You should have put that option in the poll.
-
Hawks are completely out of it. 7 games in and they haven't won the contested ball tally yet. Were uninterested last night. Let's see how Essendon go against Geelong.

Managing our list. When people say Bate still has credits in the bank, I want to know what bank offers unlimited withdrawals!
-
Our backline is 100% different.
-
If dandeeman is right, Bennell will still be playing, and I imagine Jetta will be playing as well. I think they both have played on Subi before? IN: Jetta or Grimes Out: Meeson
-
Geelong and Hawthorn have bigger injury lists, what are you on about?
-
We unleashed the Meese too soon . . . how were we to know?!?! Prithee, young pudh Meese, please forgive thee for Lady Luck's dearth, forsooth of what our fervour has wrought.

I think Petterd would be one you would seriously look at trading if the price was right. You have to trade something of value to receive something of value. I also seriously doubt that the factors like B&F finishes, draft pick # etc will have a large sway on the compensation. It will almost completely depend on who the player is, as per usual. The equation DUD X (Magical GC Fomula) = DUD Pick will hold true. Although most people on this site believe the GC would happily trade draft picks away for our D team like Bell, Newton, Wheatley and other blokes who can't crack into the crappest side of all time (not a snipe at you Deanox). Be happy to trade Petterd, Miller, and one of the glaciers with decent market value like McLean or Bate.
