I was very dismayed that Bruce did not kick that goal. I am certainly no fan of his but I thought he was good yesterday and very good the week before. He is playing a negative role and doing so with aplomb, however these days he lacks a killer instinct. Again, I am no fan of Bate's but when he has the ball inside 50 he is very dangerous. Bate and Bruce should both stay in the team. However, young Lynden has no confidence in himself and whenever he gets the ball I hear the Benny Hill theme start playing. I want to carve Richmond up and I think he should make way for someone who can do that. Furthermore I'd rather Matt Bate play in Dunn's position (closer to goal) and put Colin into Bate's CHF position. Richmond's rucks are an absolute joke so I believe Jamar can saddle up again, he has a full 7 days to recover. IN: SYLVIA OUT: DUNN

If I were coach, it would certainly be: IN: Martin, Sylvia OUT: Bate, Bartram

6. Grimes 5. Jamar 4. Petterd 3. Davey 2. Green 1. Bail Everyone played really well although I honestly thought James McDonald was very lacklustre today; some of his decision making was very frustrating.

This. Definitely Green 1, McKenzie 2.

About 40k.

Everybody seems to put Ablett as a gun father/son pick, but as every Geelong fan will tell you, there wasn't much interest in Gary Ablett. The GFC got more out of him than any other club would have. GL.

Free agency and third-party payments form the mechanism that the AFL will use (indirectly) to shunt two clubs from the league when they inevitably go back to 16.

What's surprising is that apart from Green our senior players (MacDonald and Rivers can be excused) have never been models of consistency. We'll continue to be frustrating, erratic and schelacked in '10. The guys entering physical maturity who look like they will consistently contribute are few and far between (from 2004-2006, I count Frawley, Garland and Bate).

Scully actually had a good game, particularly in the second half. Bennell was most disappointing. I'm a bit more pessimistic about 2010 than most D'Land posters. We need Green, Davey, Sylvia, MacDonald - and to a lesser extent Miller, Rivers, Bruce, McDonald - playing consistently well for us this year or we will get smashed most weeks and finish bottom 2-3.

I can confirm this. What I cannot confirm is whether the MFC will do Tom a favour and pick him at No. 2 but it is a good idea.

I'm a big fan of Dunstall, had no idea he was unpopular 'round these parts.

The Adelaide jumper is very very tight.

I'm a huge fan. The MFC: Poor crowds, fixture, exposure, resources, identity, results, and a history of failure and curse for the last 45 years. What is the only way this club is ever going to win a premiership and turn these negatives on their heads? Get the best list in the competition chock-a-block full of talented youngsters who have played many many games in their formative seasons together, a la the Geelong/Essendon juggernauts. Win a premiership. He has done nothing wrong thus far, seems incredibly intelligent and easily the number one media performer of all the coaches. We don't know if he's a extraordinary match day performer yet but our last coach wasn't and we got to a GF with a much flakier list then. I have high hopes for DB because he seems to be the first coach who has ever been on the same page as our more intelligent fans.

About 6 months ago I was told by someone who knows these things that AD & Co. were going to do WS no matter what, completely dogmatic, their legacy etc. It will certainly go ahead and it will kick [censored] for about 10 years.
-
I think most people just hope he is injured, then go ahead and dream up his selfishness, because they're all praying he's not actually as limited a footballer as this year (and others) would suggest.
-
Selling him a bit short there Clint.

As I was going to say! Robbo is the personification of the MFC over the last 11 years, up and down like a yo-yo. Now we are so far down we can actually appreciate the ups of our club and this wonderful footballer. Sometimes he drove us crazy, but most of the time we loved seeing him fly. Thankyou Robbo for putting so much time into this club and giving us so many fond memories.

Would do Jones or McLean and our second round pick for Boak.

Champ of a bloke off field as well. -
Need a semantics forum.

Fantastic match to watch. Mum and g/f are Essendon, so women are bouncing around the house when Roo missed the goal. Well called by BT too.

Can't believe people rate Petterd and Bate higher than Warnock!
-
Otten will definitely come second.

Paul Wheatley Mathew Whelan and Russell Robertson
Geddy Lee replied to Carn dees's topic in Melbourne Demons
Poor comprehension skills on this site. Only one poster been untoward regarding Wheatley; nothing bad has been said about Robbo and Wheels. Everyone else has been respectful so y'all can cut down on the parroting hoo-ha. Personally, Robbo was the most entertaining player I've seen in the red and blue behind Farmer and Jakovich. I fear that he will be remembered for the wrong shade of entertainment. He has been a top grade performer for over a decade and an MFC champion. I dearly loved how he always tore West Coast a new one. Melbourne had a crap defence from 2001-2007, but the one player you could rely on week in week out was Wheels. Absolutely composed at all times and probably the most underrated player in the comp in a couple of seasons. Also, James McDonald will retire, you can take that as gospel. As I said a few months ago it's why he was given the captaincy; its not a theory but a fact.
